I've just woken up from a dream about Strictly and wanted to come and tell you lot my conclusion!

The judges should have been given .5 paddles this year. It would have cut down a bit on the overmarking, and reduced the number of ties.

In the actual morning I might have thought of multiple reasons why this isn't in fact a good idea...

I've got 3 family members who have tested positive with 0 symptoms (and seemingly haven't developed any!)

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams - well if it's good enough for DOI I can't see why it wouldn't work on Strictly.

Not necessarily — you don't have 100% transmission anyway, and if you're asymptomatic you aren't coughing etc. so less likely to pass it on.

It was more likely, since they were in close contact, but not a certainty.

On Covid, I think there are recorded cases of households/bubbles where one person has it but no one else gets it. It's not a given that it will spread through a whole household.

Hmm Intermittent Just shows that the paranoia is not really justified.

Well, I don't know. Personally I feel a bit MORE worried about it because it seems to act so unpredictably.

I read somewhere that a small % of people will transmit it to lots of people, but a much larger % will pass it to no-one or almost no-one. Can’t remember where though!

There been tonnes of coverage/reports about asymptomatic Covid infections - you and your DH can’t both have missed all of it, surely?

Of course, there’s also the possibility that Katya received a false positive, which is relatively common too. 🤷‍♀️

The entire interview is an exercise in saying something without saying it explicitly. Good for them.

I remember that Jamelia interview, and it was great watching it again. I don't remember the controversy beforehand though (I did say I have a terrible memory!). Was it just over whether the right person went?

From what I remember, Peter Andre did a pretty poor jive (with no actual jive in it) off the back of 3 hours rehearsal, and scored lower than Jamelia in the main show. After the dance-off Craig, Darcey and Bruno judges saved PA so he went through (Len said he would have saved Jamelia, but it was 3:1 so a moot point).

It turned out that the producers filmed some 'prompted' audience reactions to get footage of a standing ovation to use for PA's dance-off performance. Lots of people (Jamelia included) took this to mean that the producers has already decided that PA would stay (he was seen at the time as a quite a 'big name' booking) and wanted to make it look like he'd danced brilliantly and the Blackpool crowd had loved it, presumably to add credibility to the decision to keep him in. According to some in the audience that night, Jamelia received a spontaneous ovation, and there were boos when PA was saved.

The BBC came out with some flannel about technical issues or something being the reason they had to film additional reaction shots.

That said, Jamelia had been in about 75 dance-offs up to then, so she was obviously never going to hang on much longer anyway. But it does go to show just how manipulated reality TV, SCD included, actually is.

Has anyone read the article in the Independent that says Maisie is unpopular because the public don’t like confidant young women (but have no issue with confidant young men)?

Have to say I thought the article was rubbish as assumed everyone wasn’t voting for Maisie because of the ringer aspect (no one likes an unfair competition).
Didn’t have any views on her personality (and haven’t voted for HRVY or Jamie either so no preference for confidant young men).

I wouldn't - I never vote for ringers male or female, confident or meek, old or young.
I loved Danny and Oti their dances remain among my favourites and I still watch th regularly but I didn't vote for them. I'm a sucker for journey darling!
