How many of the other celebrities do you think haven't ever smoked cannabis or taken other drugs?

I thought she saw the opportunity to point out that they are of a similar age, presumably because she thinks the comparison would flatter her? I can't think why else she need to refer to the age of any female contestant over 50 AND her own age every single time. To me in her head she continued but I'm soooooo much slimmer/younger looking.

Yes! I said more or less exactly the same thing a couple of threads ago. Shirley’s very disingenuous, it seems to me.

I should think many celebrities, like other people, haven't taken drugs.

I’m definitely not voting for Maisie again now I know she’s got a pink steering wheel cover....

So she’s young and ambitious and probably desperate to do well at something that could impact her career. Does she feel the joy of dancing? I’d say yes, she’s just not very good at showing it.

I don’t think she’s particularly vulnerable or sweet either tbh, just a girl throwing everything she’s got at a dancing competition.

Re why people vote for JJ - it's not just because he was in the forces. It's because he's learning to dance despite being blown up in Afghanistan and suffering the following:

As well as losing two fingers, JJ had a crushed eye socket, broken neck, and burst ear drums.
He had to undergo numerous skin grafts, facial reconstruction, and 30 surgical operations.
JJ had to learn how to walk and dress himself once more, and it took him five years to get to grips with his new body.

I admire him.

Indeed. Those stories were well known months and months ago and have no bearing on her dancing ability - whether the general populace would be holding back votes in a Won't somebody think of the children way? - doubtful. It's a lot more simpler than that - the Meghan Trainor number isn't that well known, many assumed safe from the scores, bigger personalities/dark horses.
I shan't be chucking her a sympathy vote but nor am I tactically voting either - my 3 votes on Saturday will go to my favourite three routines. If that's her, she'll get my vote.

SoupDragon, you don't know what I think or if I even have a figure. It just annoys me the "loads of them do it" thing. I have no problem with Maisie at all, and am not going to judge her over this, but just because some do it doesn't exonerate her. Maybe it was just a roll up ciggie, who knows. I'll judge the dancing, not this.

Imagine that parent posting that film of her daughter's upset reaction to the Dance Off. Some parents.

Well, J+C both came across very graciously tonight and clearly did get on well, that interview was as nice as any I've seen - no tension there that I could see, just mutual respect.

Not only have I never smoked a joint but I have never even taken a puff of a cigarette!

I haven't really agreed with all the Johannes and Caroline posts about them not getting on, him not liking her etc and seeing them on ITT just confirms to me that they are all rubbish.

My comment about Maises’s steering wheel cover was suppose to be gentle ribbing not serious. Sorry I put the face when I though I was putting the one so maybe that wasn’t clear.

I’m sure lots of celebrities have done drugs but equally lots haven’t (I don’t like the “everyone does it” line much) but the difference here for me personally is that if that is indeed drugs then she’s doing drugs and driving. I’m not all that clued up on what cannabis’s does to a person in terms of cognitive ability, reaction time etc etc but it’s clearly not safe to be drug driving and there should be the same stigma attached to that as drink driving. That’s what annoyed me about the pictures. I’m sure if it was a picture of her in a park or something I’d be a little “tut tut” but it wouldn’t bother me that much really. Anyway back to the dance talk!!

@FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue thank you for that info on JJ. I know I could have googled it of course but I didn’t know what his exact injuries were. I don’t believe it’s been overly mentioned in the show (or did I miss it?) and for that I admire him too as he’s not trying to get a sympathy vote. He really doesn’t strike me as someone that would “use” his injuries in that way. He’s bored (sorry!) but also seems quite straight forward and humble too. I wonder if wearing the kilt will show his injuries to his leg? I don’t think it would do any harm to remind the audience of the extra struggles he’ll be having dancing compared to others as his injuries aren’t immediately obviously (hand probably more obvious but even then not really unless looking for it). Whereas some of the other past celebrities had had very obvious physical disadvantages so for the audience it was always very clear that they must have extra struggles to so the routine (thinking of the girl that AJ partnered missing an arm for instance was it Lauren?)
