Previous thread

I'm not sure 9 pages will last us, so I'm getting prepared a bit early! Check the last thread first before posting here — we might still be over there.

OP posts:

I wonder how Maisie will come across on ITT tomorrow. As I said in previous posts she'd had a weird sulky vibe - even in the early weeks when she was getting a lot of love. Definitely lacking any kind of joy and a bit of a 'too cool for this' attitude.
I enjoy listening to Gorka natter anyway 😁

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/11/2020 19:48

@lynsey91

Not only have I never smoked a joint but I have never even taken a puff of a cigarette!

I haven't really agreed with all the Johannes and Caroline posts about them not getting on, him not liking her etc and seeing them on ITT just confirms to me that they are all rubbish.

Ditto,

I have had the occasional nip of gin though - just for medicinal reasons, obviously. Grin

Maireas · 23/11/2020 19:52

@SparklingDinosaurs - this, absolutely

EvilRingahBitch · 23/11/2020 19:56

To be fair to Shirley, Craig also pulled the “I’m the same age as you” but look sooo much younger darling stunt with Bill.

Poshjock · 23/11/2020 20:04

As others have said, and I have in previous threads, Maisie isn’t emotionally connecting with the dance at all. She’s more like a sports person than an actor. Her moves are all very competent and tidy. All the previous EE and other Soap actors have excelled at acting their dances which often covers a multitude of sins. It engages the audience and is a sure vote winner. Maisie strangely hasn’t made that connection yet. And she hasn’t been picked up on it by the judges either which is also strange.

wowfudge · 23/11/2020 20:05

@SparklingDinosaurs - I don't think there is any need to remind people of JJ's disfiguring injuries. As far as I know, Lauren was born with her disability so has never known anything different. That makes a huge difference psychologically aside from anything else.

ThursdayLastWeek · 23/11/2020 20:11

Well I like both smoking AND Maisie - so there Grin

Ok that makes sense re the physiological aspect of being born with a disability v what happened to JJ thanks for pointing out as hadn’t considered from that side just the “what the audience can see” side. I prob didn’t word it well as didn’t mean to cause offence. I can totally see JJ isn’t wanting to be defined by his injuries.

Today 19:43 SparklingDinosaurs

My comment about Maises’s steering wheel cover was suppose to be gentle ribbing not serious.

*I realise that... I was kidding too.
I know nothing about Maisie besides what I’ve seen on SCD but we all have different impressions and my impression of Maisie is that she really wants to do well and will be gutted when she goes. My impression of Bill is that he’s even more competitive than Maisie. My impression of Nvwls is that he’s sharper and funnier than he appeared to be at the start. My impression of JJ is that he’s fast running out of steam and my impression of Jamie is that he’s having the most fun and (contrary to what I first thought) isn’t right up himself. We all see different things I suppose and will probably never know for sure how right - or wrong - we were about anyone on the show. *

Hello! Noob here, who knows nothing about dancing and moves like a happy bag of spanners on the dance floor, but I like sequins! Hope you all don't mind me joining the fun.

Team Boti in our house, for sure. I've been struggling to define why I can't warm to Maisie, who is clearly very competent, but I think she just seems a bit inauthentic: I don't dislike the girl, but she just doesn't really incite any feelings for me at all (and surely that's the point of dance, like any artwork?).

FuzzyPuffling · 23/11/2020 21:29

Hello LadyJaye and welcome.
I can't dance either ( unless they invent "The Heffalump"...oooh that would be a good Couple's Choice) and I used to have sequins, but I have donated them the Schady for her orchid's costume. ( See upthread if this is gibberish)

iklboogeymum · 23/11/2020 21:30

Or weren't "famous" enough when 19 for anyone to care about papping them.

'Papping' is hardly new. They were doing it in the 60s.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 23/11/2020 21:41

LadyJaye
Good evening and welcome Smile

And my Phalenopsis is looking FAB-U-LOUS, DAHLING! Grin
SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/11/2020 21:48

Welcome LadyJaye

You can say anything here . . . you are among friends . . . Wink

JayAlfredPrufrock · 23/11/2020 21:51

Maisie doesn’t float my boat either.

Lack of elegance I think.

Redcrayons · 23/11/2020 21:58

I like sequins
You have met the minimum entry requirements, welcome on board!

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 23/11/2020 22:13

Have you sequinned the cat, Schaden?

SunshineCake · 23/11/2020 22:16

@ppeatfruit

Ok marking my place. I can't spend the whole morning reading this ,and the last thread fgs. So forgive me if anyone else noticed that Caroline DELIBERATELY underdanced the dance off, She knew it was over so she gave up.

Twas the correct result!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. She wasn't anywhere near as good in the dance off and I say that with qualification as I wasn't a fan. That blood facial expression. She should be embarrassed if she thought she looked sexy. Also, far too much wiggling in the goodbye dance. No objection to older women being brought of as sexy etc but it has to be essence not faked.
Rainydays200 · 23/11/2020 22:36

I absolutely love Shirley and Motsi!

I though Anton was vague and just overly gushing in his comments. I love him as a dancer, but he’s not proved himself to me as a judge yet. Very happy for the return of Motsi next Saturday

AvengingGerbil · 23/11/2020 22:59

I thought Anton was channeling a late iteration of Len - listing lots of named steps and pointing to where he saw them on the floor, but not actually telling us if the step was well executed. So it sounded like technical critique but was really as uninformative as Motsi’s shrieking or Shirley’s “you’re such a beautiful girl”.

LadyJaye · 23/11/2020 23:31

Thank you all for the lovely welcome! Looking forward to next week even more now! Smile

Thrownaway · 24/11/2020 02:36

@SunshineCake
I agree with that. I think Michelle visage is a good example of it done right if I remember rightly

Can we please not use the word disfigured, it isn’t a nice word, injuries would be enough.

ppeatfruit · 24/11/2020 09:00

Interestingly Motsi came over much better on line this weekend, she was like a different person, not over dressed and wigged or gushy. If she could return in her online persona she's be a great improvement. Grin

Yes I agree with quite a few of you about Maisie not using her 'acting' skills in the dances; perhaps it's because she's concentrating sooo hard on getting the steps right. or she doesn't have that many (sorry Grin ) There's a lot to think about when you're trying to dance correctly.
