It was all just a bit odd last night for me.
Maisie / there was clearly an effort to show in vt and dance that’s she’s young and fun. Try to change voters minds on her since she obviously didn’t get many votes last week. I think she’ll be safe this week as her dance was good (well the lifts looked Impressive) and a lot of people will have been shocked she was in dance off last week as would have assumed she was safe from judges points alone so they’ll give her votes now.
Clara - it’s horrible how she’s been treated throughout especially since she’s such a superfan. Maybe they use that to their advantage and through any old crap at her knowing she’ll accept as she loves Strictly so much. Her make up was horrendous and very distracting. Her theme and outfit was hideous. I can’t believe someone thought they were into a winner with chef whites?!
Bill and Oti it was good and nice to watch but a bit forgettable. I much prefer his more energetic dances. We’re enough weeks in where it’s established that he’s a serious contender and not the joke of the series so I think we’re expecting more of him now (not just being impressed because an older overweight man has some decent moves).
JJ arrg I cant say it...it’s wrong to think..okay I’ll admit I just can’t take to him. I don’t enjoy watching him I don’t feel anything for him. Obviously I’m not completely heartless and I do feel uttermost respect and sympathy for what he suffered in marines (was it the marines?). It’s awful it goes without saying and he’s clearly a strong person. I mean I don’t feel anything when he dances. I don’t know what was very hard for him giving his injuries so find it hard to judge whether he’s any good. I also don’t know what he does now and would actually like to know (something charity wise?) Amy just winds me up. I know she’s sweet and lovely but it’s so fake to me. Watch her at the end when they all facing camera - she’s always got a smile fixed on her face. It’s obviously from years of dance comps and is her being professional but I can’t stand it on a reality tv show like this. She showed quite a scarily competitive side with Karim last year too. Her ott reaction to JJ being safe last week was arrrgg and I felt sorry for JJ as he clearly didn’t know what to be doing!! She is far far far too touchy feely with her celebrity too.
NVwls he’s quite nice much more so than I imagined when I heard he was HRVY. I thought he did a decent job.
Ranvir I like her but I’m feeling increasingly awkward watching her. Last week especially. I don’t want to know when they feel uncomfortable and self conscious as it makes me uncomfortable viewing. She’s nice though. I hope she gets a more regular dance next week away from the intense sexy stuff. Gio is quite clever though as think they playing on the strictly gossip of are they / aren’t they at it.
Jamie I just love him. He’s so fun and has no agenda (or that’s way it appears anyway I’ve never seen his own program). He’s just having so much fun and it’s easy to watch and feel happy. I thought the covered his cc week perfectly as he has no sob story or none we’d want to hear about. Focusing on friendship was smart for his cc. Street dancing was amazing and fun. I’m sure actual street dancers would have plenty to say about it but for Strictly it was fun.
Caroline I’m in shock that theme was approved. It’s so dated and blurgh. I have never liked the way she was sleezing on J right from launch show even the opening titles have her fake acting that she’s swooning over him. Oh I know it’s all just for fun etc but if that was say Bill doing that over Oti would it be accepted? Think about that routine with Bill and Oti in Caroline and J positions and I think there would be complaints. But then strictly always seems to allow the young males to be sleezed over (Shirley I’m looking at you!!!) Caroline herself is just irritating. So aware of herself and thinks she’s better than she is. I though she was expecting 9/10 after the comments she got and was disappointed by the 8s and had to quickly put a face on it.
Speaking of scoring though I’m not actually surprised Caroline might have expected 9/10 given the comments she got. The scoring has been that crazy. So many 9s and 10s was hardly any actually deserved. Shirley started off too early dishing them out and they have overscored themselves into an over marking corner. Craig is the only one who gives trustworthy scores now.
Anton was good but he needs to be more concise for me. I liked that he mentioned technical things and his manner is calmer and his very positive too. I’d be happy if he replaces Motsi or even Bruno. To be honest Shirley is becoming an embarrassment these days with her gin induced madness (I’m assuming it’s gin otherwise eeek). Her scoring is excessive and she seems to either love or hate the celebrities (usually young males are very well liked and young females not so much!)
