That AT was very flat footed on her part, and I thought the hair and make up made her look really unattractive, her nose is so large in side profile for such a sleeked back hair style. I know that sounds bitchy but I mean it as a criticism of hair and make up as they didn’t flatter her.
I must be missing something because I didn’t see any genuine chemistry between her and Gio.
10 from Anton was ridiculous.

Craig is the only judge who marks with any sensibility of judgement and consistency. The other two are all over the shop.

Hated the Blackpool routine but was stupidly moved by the fact they gave Tony Beak a pivotal part for a change. Shirley and Tess looked lovely but Claud godawful. On ITT they did say they chose what they wore (from outfits by their dressers but lordy, what did Claudia reject tonight?). Tess's hair and make up flawless. Janette looked pretty too.

@Florabritannica I did wonder why there wasn't a big swooshy smooth lift at the end like Nadiya/Aliona do/did. I can only assume Oti didn't want to risk it or couldn't make it fit so did the Morecambe and Wise type move then canes instead (Bill was more tentative but still good except for one very noticeable timing mishap with the cane). Foxtrot-based and Shirley referred to it as such, Anton said it was good how Bill watched Oti (Otty!) but I thought he watched her too closely.

Loved Maisie's outfit and routine, just not keen on the music. Loved the handstand walkover thing into his lap (saw that done in a Rise like a phoenix showdance and always wanted to do it - I'd land about as well as Tess's jokes, mind).

JJ's quickstep, like his jive, didn't do it for me this week. His hand behind his back pose was wearing thin, as was the lipsyncing, and Amy grabbing his neck. Just didn't flow for me, sorry JJ. Craig's comments were fair I thought - I was surprised that he got 9s.

Clara's samba was almost as bad as Gemma's. Spoonography? Much as though I'd like to spoon with Aljaz wtaf?! and I'm beginning to think he can't teach samba. If she doesn't pull in the votes, she's a goner. Not keen on the music, the eyeshadow, the dress needed a reveal/to be removed entirely.

I posted this on the last thread but seeing as the ''Tony Beak is a racist so will never get the judging stint permanently'' debate came up again last night, here it is again...

With regard to the Anton racism furore - it was cited at the time that Laila used the P word to refer to herself but as she was going through a custody battle at the time and the father was Pakistani and the fact that her parents would be disappointed in her using it, that the official line was that only Anton used the slur. He apologised (whereas Carol Thatcher didn't and was sacked). Laila denied using the P word herself although the Times article (no longer available sadly or I would link) claimed she did and Anton took all the blame to shield her from her parents. In Craig RH's book ''Tales from the dance floor'', he said: "it was one of those things where she might have called herself various names, like I might call myself a "big old poof" or "rancid queen" - or rap stars and singers like Rhianna use the n word - but if anyone else says it then it's not acceptable".
He also points out that Anton had a Japanese girlfriend at the time (although that does strike me as being like a "one of my best friends is black so I can't be racist" argument).
But he did make a full apology. It relates to his actual dancing/judging as much as James's perceived "fattism" related to his. Please note that I am not defending his use of the word - even if it was said in private between two people in the Star Bar - and that even if she did refer to herself like that which Craig implied in print in his book, that does not excuse Anton using it but I still think there was more to that story than meets the eye.
He has judged before on CIN special. He was interviewed along with Karen and Brendan at least twice I think and given previous accusations of sexism wrt Arlene being let go and a 3 man panel etc if replacing a woman with a man, I think they just went in a different direction (Alesha, Darcey, Motsi) because of that.

Sequins I’ve also been wondering why we seem to be getting more CC and Latin and less ballroom this year. I enjoy the show no matter what, but last night was one of the worst I’ve ever seen... dire costumes, off music, a CC again, a samba again. Poor Clara. Whoever thought of the chef theme should be fired. That outfit and Clara’s makeup and the whole crappy concept would still have been a massive fail in a cooking themed week (if there was such a thing).

There’s been some terrible makeup looks this year too, all the pink and yellow eyeshadow. Just, why?

He was absolutely gorgeous with Debbie McGee he showed her so much respect.

I loved him with Debbie McGee - prior to that pairing I had always thought him a bit "meh", but he was so gentle and respectful with her.

there was a lot of speculation about their relationship - who knows what went on, but you know - so what? They are both adults, and neither was committed to anyone else - their business.

And IF they were lovers for a while, I hope that they both enjoyed their relationship, however brief.

I hated Caroline's dance, I thought I would really like her but she is annoying me and I thought the Carry On Strictly routine was rubbish.

Agree - the sooner she's out the better. She was truly vomit-making last night.

And I wish they'd get rid of the CC - or if they keep it, make it a proper dance - none of they contempwaft stuff. It's sh*te.

I'm terrified of Clara being in the dance-off - the awful runtime they landed her with will mean curtains for her, whoever she's against - especially the way the judges fawned over Caroline's hideous routine. If they think that's better then even against her Clara wouldn't have a chance. Clara has so much potential.

I'm hoping (no offence JJ - nothing personal) for JJ and Caroline, with Caroline to go.

I would imagine Clara has quite a following. I really felt for her last night. She was let down imo.

I hate to say it but Clara was worst by a mile last night though was disturbed by Caroline and her gurning

That AT - it wasn’t as good as the one he did with Debbie McGee but the chemistry - WOOF!!!!

I know it was a Blackpool themed week but they could have dressed Clara and her partner in a better outfit than that one! It was dreadful ; they always have to do a cooking themed dance every series and poor Clara got the short straw this year. Most of the costumes have been terrible this season. Caroline's one this week was horrible and a variation of the ones she's worn every week.
Maybe the costume department has a reduced budget this year although I'm sure they work so hard getting it all ready.
Laura's dress was nice but she seems the only one who has had decent costumes. I Didn't like Hrvy in velvet either.

Apparently Jamie isn't The Heir sadly. He gets zero McVities money.

Though I really hope he doesn't have to pay for biscuits.
