Following on from the last thread!

OP posts:

They don’t seem to need to do so much everyday stuff to keep the camp going, like collecting firewood or water. It’s all laid on. I do like the castle setting, but they’re having it a bit easy.

Standrewsschool · 20/11/2020 22:56

@the80sweregreat

People do communicate more these days I think. Maybe a bit too much , but it's just modern life. Years ago they didn't know any different.
That’s true. Thirty years ago, whilst at university, we did the once weekly phonecall, using a public phone. That was it. Not quite the war, but definantly less communication.
LagneyandCasey · 20/11/2020 23:01

@Judashascomeintosomemoney

During the war there was no phones Alright, Uncle Albert! 😂

If people hate it so much and every little thing is irritating them, maybe stop watching? It's a bit of light entertainment and familiarity in a miserable year. No it's not perfect but it was never going to be, under the circumstances. They're doing the best they can with the limitations in place.

They also always get their luxury items a few days in. Every year. There's also always at least one person signalling home.

Some people just have to be negative about everything. I don't get it.

JaneJeffer · 20/11/2020 23:15

@Judashascomeintosomemoney Grin
Don't mention the war!

Bearbehind · 20/11/2020 23:16

I do think if you did a poll now there would be no clear winner as opinion would be divided - no one is doing anything memorable (Love them or hate them) they are all just going through the motions

JaneJeffer · 20/11/2020 23:20

If the poll was on here Jordan would walk it Grin

Bearbehind · 20/11/2020 23:23

Really?! Jordan??!!

He’s totally faking how scared he is for attention

jellybeans · 20/11/2020 23:23

I must admit I am a bit squeamish around the potential suffering of the critters. I felt sorry for the pigeons surely some are scared? I agree they should move towards crystal maze type challenges, fun asault courses etc.
I'm not keen on the woman except Bev and Victoria. I like jordan and Russell from the men. I love the castle set up and theme.

MaggieFS · 20/11/2020 23:34

Give me snakes and rats over insects any day!

Jessica was annoying. But was she any different to Mo apart from not very amusing with it? Something to ponder.

It's warming up- tonight was better.

ILoveYou3000 · 20/11/2020 23:44

I love this idea! I bet they could do some good ones within the castle.

YardleyX · 21/11/2020 00:04

Upped their game a bit tonight. It was better Smile

They need to encourage the competitiveness between them now. More misery and suffering for the ones losing challenges

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 21/11/2020 00:21

They said at the beginning the firewood was quite a long way away, and they'd need to collect a lot for both the fire and the boiler, but they haven't really shown it
Candleabra · 21/11/2020 08:50

I've felt really uncomfortable about the animals and insects this time. Maybe it's because it's all so obviously fake this year so it's even more jarring. Those poor pigeons and rats yesterday.... It can't be right. Definitely agree that it needs to change to crystal maze style tasks. That would be more interesting as well.
(I wonder what happened to the original crystal maze sets, they were amazing. They never seemed to get full value out of the place, they were always dashing through the interesting bits)

the80sweregreat · 21/11/2020 08:51

Has anyone found out who Victoria was talking about being smelly before Mo came back from his trial and had a shower? She quickly went very quite.
I bet they were even more smelly than this in Aus ( despite the waterfall showers) but being outside , of course , they didn't notice it as much as there would all being in that room! Can they have soap in the shower? Some people just have strong body odor , even if the shower every day and use products!

woodhill · 21/11/2020 10:26

Or some sensible quiz questions for a change without animals or a treasure hunt

BenoneBeauty · 21/11/2020 11:19

I'm still very much enjoying it and liking them all. We need fun not fighting given the current shit that's going on around us so I'm pleased it's upbeat.

I'd happily watch them singing around a campfire and acting like a close knit family.

I also don't mind the signals home - imagine how devastated G's kids might be the one time she doesn't do it. It is annoying but her kids are little and bet they love seeing her do it so that makes me not mind it at all.

I'm also enjoying the PG-ness of it as we watch it as a family and nothing awkward for my 9 year old to see! Just wish it was on at 8pm and finished by 9 or 9.30pm as it's an argument every night to get the DCs to bed by 9.30pm l as they want to watch it to the end!

Candleabra · 21/11/2020 11:28

Yes I could do without it being on every night for over an hour. I'm watching it with my youngest for some mother daughter bonding, but I hadn't realised what a commitment it is!

the80sweregreat · 21/11/2020 12:14

Candlebra, you could tape the show and watch it together another time? Fast forward all the ads and other irrelevant bits and it would be done in half the time.
(I did this with strictly one year : saved me hours of time! )

Candleabra · 21/11/2020 12:31

That's a perfect solution, but she wants to watch it 'live' so she can talk to her mates about it the next day!

the80sweregreat · 21/11/2020 12:35

Ahh! Of course I didn't think of that !

But it's not meant to be a programme for children and a 10 or 10.30 pm finish is not too late for most adults. I wouldn't want them to have to make it suitable for pre-watershed viewing if there was content that would be interesting for adults, but not suitable for children.

ScienceSensibility · 21/11/2020 12:53

I thought Ruthie was awful to discuss those private details about Prince Edward and the Royal Family.
Either it was all bullshit and she was just looking for airtime, or it was true and she has betrayed a confidence.
If she was invited to Balmoral surely it was in the expectation that she would respect privacy?
Guess she hasn’t got much going for her if she has to rely on her tenuous RF connections.

BenoneBeauty · 21/11/2020 12:58

Fair enough @ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords but there's really nothing being shown that couldn't be shown Pre watershed so not seeing the issue there.

JaneJeffer · 21/11/2020 12:58

I didn't believe the bit about shaking hands with the Queen!
