Will anyone be watching? I’m quite looking forward to it! Will be different with it not being in Australia this year. I haven’t heard anything about who is going in, has anyone?

@radiatornoise
I can't stand her, love DOI thoughGrin

yorkshirepudddiing · 17/11/2020 06:27

@ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords

She's been enabled to do so, because she didn't need to actually work for a living, just like a lot of other women on insta. They can afford to spend their days wittering on about babies, homes, fashion or whatever, having totally pointless 'careers', because they are married to high earning men.
She's written several novels that have been very popular.

I remember following their vlogs years ago when McFly were touring. She was with their babies at home and had publishing deadlines to meet. She would stay up at night writing once they were asleep.

Just because her husband has given her a platform doesn't mean she hasn't worked hard and it isn't all her own effort and work. She's hardly a WAG is she.

For a parenting site there are some really harsh and unkind people pouncing on a woman and using the fact she's a mother as a negative.

I bet many women on here, if they were married to a very rich and successful musician, wouldn't work as hard as she has.

Ultimately she has carved her own career, ensured her own financial stability despite really not needing to, and doesn't rely on a man.

Rae36 · 17/11/2020 07:11

They did the same when another Khan was on it. They gave him halal meats. When he had to do the eating trail, they purposely gave him all the fish stuff. Like fish eyes and guts and the other contestants pig

What do vegetarians eat in the eating challenges? If I was going on I'd be vegetarian.

Radiatornoise · 17/11/2020 07:26

Have any vegetarians been in the jungle?

Fizbosshoes · 17/11/2020 07:36

I'm sure they've had vegetarians on before, possibly vegan (but cant remember who)

I’ve got no beef with Giovanni but I honestly can’t be doing with any of these blogging insta mum types. It’s like when a sleb has a baby and writes a book about motherhood and brings out a range of baby blankets. I suppose they are just taking advantage of their situation but it doesn’t mean I’m in the least bit interested.

FloraFlamingo · 17/11/2020 07:47

@JaneJeffer what a stupid thing to say. That makes it ok does it? You're fine with being just a casual mean girl then?

Half of you slagging off Giovanna can't even get her name right ..

That's fine to not be into what someone does, I'm not into mum and baby blogs and Instagram stuff myself.

But primarily she is an author, and has had work singing, acting and presenting too.

On her podcasts she has interviewed some quite high profile people including Kate Middleton.

What I'm trying to say is people seem to be dismissing her as just a mummy blogger with a rich husband Confused

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 17/11/2020 08:06

She's in an odd position really. She does work hard - yet lots don't value what she does, so sneer on it.

She has a rich husband so doesnt need to work, so gets to "indulge in non jobs" - yet she writes books/produces podcasts/is a charity ambassador etc, and does all this even though she doesn't have to. God forbid a woman wants to make money herself, naughty Gi should be content baking cakes with her brood and living off her husband's royalties.

She makes her name and her money (in addition to writing fiction) from discussing parenting/motherhood etc - something we all do here for free - so if she mentions her kids at all on IACGMOOH it will be "god is that all she talks about", but if she doesn't mention them at all people will jump on how she mustn't be a good mum being away from her kids this long and not even shedding a tear.

We should be getting behind her.

None of us (to the best of my knowledge) are Olympians, none of us are famous soap stars or professional dancers etc.

A massive proportion of us a mothers, or see how hard our own mothers work, or wish our own mothers (or ourselves) had something outside of the family to enjoy.

Tearing her down is fucking spiteful.

showmethegin · 17/11/2020 08:06

@yorkshirepudddiing I couldn't agree more. People on here are told all the time that it's risky to be a stay at home mom without financial independence.

If she came on here as a woman and said, "I really want to stay home with my kids but I've also always wanted to be an author AIBU to try and do both?". People would be all "great idea!".

Its not even as though she's one of these mum bloggers that is always immaculately made up and trying to portray a perfect life. The criticism of her reeks of jealousy.

showmethegin · 17/11/2020 08:08

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz
Well said.

yorkshirepudddiing · 17/11/2020 08:15

She is probably the mum a lot of women wish they could be.

She's hard working yet very often seems to be with her kids and family and juggling everything. They don't seem to use nannies, just ordinary school and nursery like everyone else.

She has had negative comments on her appearance in the past yet still plays on the beach in a swimming costume with her kids without shying away from the camera.

I just don't get the negativity about her especially on a parenting site. She's done nothing wrong! If her work isn't your cup of tea that's fine, I don't like people on the show or their work doesn't interest me, but there's no need to sneer it be unkind.

And there have been plenty of people on that show over the years without work ethic and talent and don't really deserve the platform that show can bring. But she isn't one of them.

Batteries
Vacuum bags

I am quite a fan but a quick google check would be easy for people asking what she does or has done -

She has previously worked/had work experience in heat, bliss and hello magazine. Through this, and her blogging, she attended literary events and networked with authors etc and wrote her first novel in 2013, another in 2014 then 2015. All best sellers I think. And then happy mum happy baby in 2017.

She has sung on stage in the west end also. She trained at Sylvia young theatre school.

Not here to hate on Giovanna, haven't really noticed her. Last night was all about the men, they are clearly struggling for content. Why did we have boring stories about Jordan watching a DVD during the Olympics and Bev's DVD topping Heat which were then instantly repeated to camera by another celeb? Like we missed it the first time.

Jordan is irritating, whiny and talks too much. He has clearly been told exactly what to do by his agent to get max air time. You went on this show and didn't think there would be snakes? Not buying it Jordan.

Sparklingbrook · 17/11/2020 08:19

@showmethegin

And so what if her husband is famous? I didn't hear all this crap when Roman Kemp was in it, he's only famous because of his dad!
I would have to do an AS on last year's threads but I would imagine they were full of Roman only being where he is for being Martin Kemp's son.
callmeadoctor · 17/11/2020 08:37

I really hope that they carry on with IACGMOH in Wales. Goodness knows it needs the money, great for the tourist industry too. That castle will no doubt have its future ensured now. (Maybe change castle or area every couple of years?)

What's stupid is turning this whole thread into a discussion about one contestant whom I actually haven't mentioned once. Go and pick on someone else or does "be kind" only apply to certain people.

Fizbosshoes · 17/11/2020 08:56

I guess its having the opportunity to do lots of different things.
Often celebs (or their partners, mothers, children, siblings) put their name to things that they are not already well known for and seemingly not experienced or qualified for. (Writing cookery books, novels, photography books, clothes designing, perfumes, jewellery designing, presenting) And they automatically get a platform for this because of who they are and what connections they have. Sometimes that grates because it seems like they've got a step up without having to work (as) hard for it.
But that happens outside of the celebrity world too, I guess it's just more visible (and maybe more lucrative) And, if I'm honest, who wouldnt take the opportunity to try something new or that youd always wanted to do, and get paid for it?
And they can only be successful if people are willing to buy whatever it is they've put their name to, or follow them on insta etc.
Earlier in the year though, there was a day where over 600 new book titles were released because a lot had been delayed or put on hold during lockdown. It was touted as a really exciting day for publishing and book shops, but I felt a bit sorry for new authors who would now have to compete with so many other titles, some would be well known established authors plus probably a few celeb ones.

*not particularly talking about Giovanna Fletcher, I really dont know that much about her, other than what I've read on here.

Fizbosshoes · 17/11/2020 08:59

Sorry that was a bit of an essay not really related to I'm a celeb....but in response to some other comments!

JaJaDingDong · 17/11/2020 09:02

I suspect that, like GBBO, ITV have had to find enough celebs who were prepared to do a couple of weeks in isolation before the show started. Making the total time away from family more lined 5-6 weeks, not just 3 weeks for the show itself.
That must have reduced their options a bit.
And they may have had to replace some first choices who tested positive.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 17/11/2020 09:04

The daylight hours must be such a logistical challenge for them. At least in Aus the sun's up for a significant portion of the day. Here they are only getting 8am-3pm of sunlight.
