Anyone else watched this?

I've binged it over the weekend and really enjoyed it!

Loved the 60s vibe as well.

I've just watched the first two. Absolutely loving it so far. ♟

Stripyhoglets1 · 25/10/2020 23:09

I'm about 5 episodes in. Really enjoying it so far!

FrankieStein402 · 26/10/2020 14:56

Is a favourite book of mine and the adaptation is close enough - great story, well played - rewatched the last episode three times so far :)

Stripyhoglets1 · 26/10/2020 23:08

Just finished watching - best thing I've seen on Netflix for a while!

caringcarer · 26/10/2020 23:21

I am going to give it a go.

workshy44 · 27/10/2020 16:06

This is so so good. One of the best things I have seen this year

SavoyCabbage · 27/10/2020 16:22

I'm really enjoying it. I've never seen a programme where a character goes to a children's home and people are kind to them!

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 27/10/2020 19:29

Haha savoy I know what you mean I kept waiting for her to be abused! That was my first thought when she befriended the janitor as well 😬 although drugging them all was pretty bad!

OP posts:
SavoyCabbage · 27/10/2020 20:37

Yes, when she went down those stairs and saw him sitting there I nearly turned it off. So glad I didn't!

They stopped drugging them when it became illegal which was very responsible of them.😂

FrankieStein402 · 27/10/2020 22:59

I've never seen a programme where a character goes to a children's home and people are kind to them

In the book Ferguson is the only real 'kind' character other than Shaibel - and Deardorf is not a nice person at all - but I'm not complaining - the potrayal of 'Harmon's character is astonishing.
(netflix also has the tranquilisers as necessary for her to envision the board, the book has her fighting the addiction, in part because it blurs her visioning - but hell, they've managed to potray her inner turmoil so well - who cares!)

IdblowJonSnow · 27/10/2020 23:13

I've been thinking of watching this, trailer looked good. Will give it a go.

rc22 · 28/10/2020 19:56

I just finished watching today and absolutely loved it. I struggle to stay interested in lots of things I start watching but I'm sorry that this one is over. Wish there was more.

Thecatisboss · 30/10/2020 09:02

Just finished watching this really enjoyed it and found it fascinating.

Cheeseandlobster · 30/10/2020 23:59

I am loving this too. Its gripping

bruffin · 02/11/2020 14:13

Watched first two episodes last night and am engrossed
Also think Anya Taylor Joy is one of the most watchable young actressed around at the moment

Harmarsuperstar · 02/11/2020 14:17

I loved it too! And yy to being relieved/surprised nothing too horrific happened in the whole thing. Made a nice change Smile

Todaytomorrow09 · 02/11/2020 14:18

Best thing I’ve watched in a while. Was very surprised!

Chickenitalia · 02/11/2020 15:53

I loved this, finished it today. Really liked that not all the ends got tied up, it was fantastic and the lead actress was mesmerising.

For those who might enjoy the book, it’s 99p on kindle at the moment, not as a daily deal but in the other deals section, so not sure how long that will be the price.

bruffin · 02/11/2020 17:56

I didnt realise the author also wrote The Hustler, which was made into an excellent film with Paul Newman, and its sequel Colour of Money

LemonSea · 04/11/2020 11:40

Finished watching this last night. Best thing I’ve seen in ages. Great story, great cast. Bonus was the young lead actress was not required to go nude and lots of positive young male characters. Hurrah!

JinpingShuffle · 04/11/2020 11:56

Yes, it's great!

ApolloandDaphne · 04/11/2020 11:58

I absolutely loved it. It was stylish, smart and very watchable.

caringcarer · 04/11/2020 11:59

I watched episode 1 with my chess playing son and we both loved it. DH came to watch.episode 2 and then when he got into it we went back to episode 1 again.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 04/11/2020 13:32

Am I right in thinking the man she loves is gay? I'm not sure if I missed the reason they couldn't be together!

OP posts:
LemonSea · 04/11/2020 14:10

Yes I think so. I haven’t read the book but from the mini series I thought so. The scene when she is in the journalists hotel bedroom being photographed there is a double bed. A young man walks in and changes into swimming trunks and reminds the journalist they are having dinner at 9 pm.
