Really???

Ugly house to uglier house. That design was shocking!

I feel like having a whip round for the neighbours to buy them some leylandii!

TeaPot40 · 23/10/2020 20:26

I agree.. those stairs reminded me of a car park. We have some like that on our town. They stink of piss

Asterion · 23/10/2020 20:26

Just so weird. Even if you love concrete and the blocky extension, what the hell were they doing just painting the front black? It was so cheap and tacky!

Asterion · 23/10/2020 20:27

@happinessischocolate

Watching it now, it reminds my of a youth club from the 70s where there tried to jazz it up abit with some MDF and leftover paint.

Then I saw the outside, yep def a youth club

This is so true Grin

Or a really bad provincial nightclub in the eighties, probably called Rockafella's.

I agree the house ended up looking awful although it was pretty ugly to start with, particularly the back.

Last week he was working on a quite ordinary looking 70s suburban house and kept going on about how ugly it was. I'm sure the owners of the identical houses in the street loved that. The interior of that house was quite weirdly set up, though, and did need some work.

icelolly99 · 24/10/2020 16:34

Just caught up on the episodes.....that black house/concrete monster was awful!

Killerqueen2244 · 24/10/2020 16:39

It should have been knocked down, the old part of the house wasn’t really worth saving and after all the complaining they did about it they kept all the bits they hated anyway!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️

It’s my favourite hate-watch! Grin

I feel sorry for the guys because I feel they were out of their depth and taken for a ride with the stupid architects

Architects do not give a damn about functional living and are all about being quirky.

They endured three years of that and in year one were almost out of money so I dread to think how much debt they got into doing that....

I bet they secretly want to sell but can't bare to admit it to each other!

StanfordPines · 25/10/2020 08:15

I didn’t like the black front and I wasn’t keen on much of the interior of the extension but I did like the decoration of the older bits of the house.
I loved the hallway, but not the yellow bit or what the stairs were made from. I liked the dark living room and the bedrooms.

I didn’t really understand the black box thing in the extension. It would have made sense had that been a small room above it.

I really wanted to like it outside but I couldn’t.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/10/2020 20:12

I'm watching now to see what horrendous things they can do to an ordinary house.

ramblingsonthego · 29/10/2020 20:18

Tonight's couple have annoyed me so far. Fix the bloody dripping tap! Look at all the water you are wasting.

nancy75 · 29/10/2020 20:24

Tonight’s people are having a baby so the architect has put a new front garden with a million steps to get to the front door - that’ll be handy with a pram

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/10/2020 20:25

Yes. You don't have to redesign the whole house for a dripping tap. They do need a kitchen extension, houses that age always gave tiny kitchens.

nameychange · 29/10/2020 20:44

I’m trying to work out where in Sheffield they are. For most of the expensive bits £120k will buy you the fourth bedroom!

garlictwist · 29/10/2020 20:47

I often think the before house often looks better than after they change it. The houses are never that ugly to begin with, just normal houses with normal dimensions.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/10/2020 20:48

My husband thinks Nether Edge/Millhouses.
CaptainMyCaptain · 29/10/2020 20:50

The front looks half finished but the back is OK. Nothing special but better than some in the series.

nameychange · 29/10/2020 20:54

Captain - thanks, we were thinking Ranmoor or Fulwood but didnt look quiet right, the roads are too wide

nancy75 · 29/10/2020 20:55

I’m a bit behind, are they leaving the front like that with the extension in a different finish?

nameychange · 29/10/2020 20:57

Nancy75 - think so, one of the architects said that with a semi you can’t really make huge changes as it’ll look odd.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/10/2020 20:58

The front does look odd. The house inside is nice and livable unlike last week's monstrosity though.

nancy75 · 29/10/2020 20:59

But wouldn’t you match the render/finish to the rest of the house? It just looks like a bit shoved on the side

nameychange · 29/10/2020 21:00

Looks lovely, personally I’d have not gone off the side as they’ve lost access to their back garden and could have achieved so much more space with dormas in the loft and a bigger rear extension.

nancy75 · 29/10/2020 21:00

Last weeks was an abomination, if you lived next door you’d be tempted to burn it down when the owners were out!

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/10/2020 21:02

They said at the beginning they didn't like the fake stone cladding but it would have been better if they had matched it.
