What are the best British detective series?

I'm in the mood for an old school detective show and would appreciate some recommendations. Old or new.

Strike is bloody brilliant. Modern day but has an old school detective feel to it. It's on BBC.

I loved Lewis, though I may struggle to watch it now Laurence Fox has turned into such a twat.
River hasn't been mentioned yet. Not sure what channel it was on originally but it's on Netflix. Interesting take on the genre.
