What are the best British detective series?

I'm in the mood for an old school detective show and would appreciate some recommendations. Old or new.

Sherlock Holmes, but only the Jeremy Brett version.
Poirot bit only the Sir David suchet ones and the Joan Hickson Miss Marple.

Father Brown - if you fancy something gentle

I liked Strike but couldn’t keep up with the increasingly weird over complicated plots.
I liked the main characters, the wine and their sub plot the best,

Cracker is good as is Jonathan Creek. Sherlock is brilliant.

Agatha raisin is good modern but old style in that it’s very much body in the library type of crime
Criminal is also excellent for more of an old fashioned crime solving series not graphic

Where can I find Agatha Raisin? We don't have Sky.

Sara Lund is amazing and Laure Berthaud is the sexiest character ever.

I like Inspector Lynley and the Mrs Bradley Mysteries.

Criminal on Netflix.

Very muted, everything happens in the interview room and the other side of the one-way mirror, but still really gripping.

There are two series in English, one in French, one in German, one in Spanish. Same interview room! in different countries. Subtitles on, you soon sink into them.

I think my favourite episodes were David Tennant, and Hayley Atwell, but they're all good.

I’m just rewatching all of Lewis and previously watched DI Lynley from the beginning. Loved both. Morse and Endeavour also great and watching Poirot and Marple with DS.
