Anyone watching.
I've enjoyed the 2 episodes I've seen.

I don’t think they showed the kitchen which was strange. I think they left the cellar as it was (unless that was another cellar in another episode🤔). I’m not a fan of cellars either after having one that flooded every time it rained heavily.

LadyEloise · 02/11/2020 15:28

It was very strange they didn't show the kitchen. They enthused about the bathroom. The kitchen needed to be shown. Very very odd.

This looks like a contender for the next series - bet they’d give the contestants a 14k budget and wonder why it all goes wrong....

Mynxie. Definitely a contender. The contestants will be given a fiver each and 2 months to sort it out and sell it and when they find they can’t even get the sodding place water tight in that time and are about to murder each other Simon will swan in with his mates, do a shedload of plastering and make some disparaging comments. The place will still make a massive loss and neither contestant will be speaking to the other at the end of it all.

MatildaMainly · 03/11/2020 09:53

It was strange that they didn’t give even a glimpse of the finished kitchen. It was strange that Harry transformed into a department store mannequin.

Even stranger there’s no record of that house selling since they bought it at auction in January 2019.

Another one that made a good profit, a bungalow in Wales, had the sale fall through, so their winnings were down graded. Something didn’t stack up here at all.

@LadyEloise I couldn't stop looking at him. His hair was so coiffured and his face was like I don't know what exactly. Flawless but also totally expressionless. Oh to have been a fly on the wall.

Doubleyikes · 03/11/2020 19:11

LadyEloise and MatildaMainly. I couldn’t stop looking at him either at the end . He looked so normal while he was working on the house then came back looking like an android. He honestly didn’t look real did he? It was all very disturbing.

Been binge watching this over the last week

Episodes that annoyed me :
Sara with the carpenter boyftiemd who billed 7K ! When family and friends are supposed to work for free! I was gobsmacked
Cheeky mares the pair of them !

The one where the girl went on three holidays and just bloody moaned the full time ! Lazy git

Some episodes are good but same as all the PP , the fees are so high ! It wipes out profits every time , it must be infuriating!

It’s about 20% of house costs for every place so u need to be making whopping profits to cover the fees plus the Reno budget.

Agree most set up to fail and these losses must make for a HUGE production budget on this show .

20 episodes - about 75% making a loss

So they have paid all the crew and presenters for 6 months work then those losses from all those houses some as high as 50k it must be a massive production bill

Can’t see another series of this being made at all.

caringcarer · 13/11/2020 14:19

I've watched them all. I just don't understand why so many simply walk away leaving their partner to do everything.

caringcarer · 13/11/2020 14:24

I don't understand why more couples font keep kitchen carcass and simply replace cupboard doors and worktops. A few of the kitchens have been ok.

LadyEloise · 13/11/2020 15:46

EyelinerRocks
I agree.
It's a very expensive programme to make with so many houses selling for a big loss. It could be so good if they got couples who were prepared to work together ( and stick with the project ), make the refurb budget realistic, extend the time given for the property to sell.
Otherwise it's just car crash tv which gets boring after a short while.

I mentioned the discarding of perfectly good kitchen carcasses and bathroom suites upthread, caringcarer.

It's back! Who's watching?

They're doing well and there's been no drama between the pairs so far (shame Grin). It looks like they've chosen people with decent skills for this series.

ArsenicNLace · 09/09/2021 18:25

Yes me! Loved the first three episodes and thought the woman yesterday (in Leeds I think) was an inspiration.

I thought todays in Leicester was really unfair. The house was practically falling down. No way should that have been bought and them given only a £20000 budget. Despite all that they did a fantastic job and should be proud of themselves.

Turmerictolly · 09/09/2021 20:44

Loved the one with the single woman - she was amazing and so young too. Just shows what you can do.
Episode 4 was unfair - bought at too high a price and needed demolishing really. I think the researchers should have put the brakes on this one.

LagneyandCasey · 10/09/2021 17:13

I was shaking my head in disbelief at today's episode. They should have just cleared it out and tarted it up for a decent profit for 3 months work. Instead they did all that work for nothing. The only winner was the buyer who got a bargain. It's lucky they don't have to cover the loss!

I agree the lady on Tuesday was phenomenal 👏. She deserved the great profit she made on her own.

Turmerictolly · 11/09/2021 14:27

Me too! It should have been a simple 'flip'. Another one where the presenter paid too much too. I suppose even if they don't make any money then it's good experience but what a wasted opportunity.

arield · 21/09/2021 16:57

This programmes strangely addictive. Think it stops on Monday though

Cherrypie32 · 22/09/2021 17:05

Today’s episode, Channel 4 or Simon gave them a bum steer on a nightmare auction property, seemingly without carrying out any searches or research of the property market. Then give them a ridiculous budget of £10k to deal with subsidence, no roof and a full refit. Reveal that the market currently doesn’t support this type of project and finish the work with a massive loss making everyone connected with the project look and feet shit.

ItsNotMeAnymore · 22/09/2021 17:20

I love this show. That plumber who was on earlier in this series was brilliant. There is a lot of luck involved.

LadyEloise1 · 26/09/2021 10:00

The young girl, a plumber I think, who refurbed a house single handedly ( the other person withdrew for personal reasons ) was awe inspiring.
