Anyone watching.
I've enjoyed the 2 episodes I've seen.

OP posts:
BedknobsNoBroomsticks · 25/10/2020 21:42

Have only watched up to the chapel episode so far.

Felt sorry for them two. Renovating that chapel would have cost way more than £30k and a hell of a lot of experience.

The woman Sara was a right cheeky fucker. Thought she would make £7k out of a project that she effectively doomed by insisting on an extension. Bet she plays the victim to everyone about this.

mum2jakie · 26/10/2020 18:51

Today's was a bit of a disaster with them both ending up dropping out! A £20,000 loss although think the renovation project was too ambitious for two amateurs. Entertaining viewing though.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 26/10/2020 18:59

They were always going to struggle with fixing subsidence - but the fact that they both walked was pathetic. The girl saying ‘Oh yeah, I’d do it all again if I got another chance’... hardly likely is it!

lynsey91 · 26/10/2020 20:07

I thought the house needed too much work on it for people with no real experience. The budget wasn't that much either for a house needing subsidence sorted, a roof sorted, new kitchen, new bathroom etc

StillCoughingandLaughing · 26/10/2020 20:23

Yes, I thought the budget was low. That’s the first time I’ve seen them up the budget.

Ontheboardwalk · 26/10/2020 23:15

I felt sorry for church couple, no way was that the renovation for them. Think they would have done a really good job in a house

The ones who quit or don’t pull their weight. I think they should be liable for half the loss. Might make them pull their finger our for a show they applied for

Belfastlassie · 27/10/2020 14:14

Really cross at Monday’s episode. The couple were given a hopeless house with serious subsidence. The girl was an empty head and the guy was left on his own and had too much to do. Simon got a team of builders in and one of them said it wasn’t a job you could do solo.

Belfastlassie · 27/10/2020 14:22

I think Monday episode was very unfair. The budget was too low for the serious subsidence. The girl was an empty head wittering on about her interior design skills and the guy was left with too much to do. No wonder the builders Simon called in to finish the job Said it wasn’t a project for a solo worker.

Belfastlassie · 27/10/2020 14:29

She was a cheeky cow. She claimed her fiancé would help them and then stuck in a bill.

Blueberrycreampie · 27/10/2020 17:01

I'm beginning to think the premise this programme is built on is flawed. They pay too much for the property, don't have enough in the budget, don't have enough time to do it in, and the the participants have to go on holiday/ work away/ start a course/ undertake another project, and aren't available to put the work in! Or, they just cba to turn up!! Then, the makers sell it for far less than the value, it's bonkers!

7to25 · 27/10/2020 17:56

I felt so sorry for the two today. I really wanted them to succeed and they didn't. Not enough time on the market and staging needed.

Blueberrycreampie · 27/10/2020 18:41

Yes and the mindless vandalism didn't help. So soul destroying!

ArsenicNLace · 27/10/2020 18:54

Oh I felt so sorry for them especially as the builder did what no else has been prepared to do which was take time off work to concentrate on the project.

It was so unfair clearly targeted by some idiots because they'd seen they were filming.

mum2jakie · 27/10/2020 19:10

Gutted on behalf of the two blokes today. I would want to track the vandals down myself and sort them out with a lump hammer!!Angry

BlueBoar · 27/10/2020 20:09

I may be horribly cynical but the fact there was no break in made me suspect it was (one of) them and they were trying to get away with an insurance claim and an extension on the time. It seemed so specific and yet restrained. However they would have made a loss either way unless they had had more time on the market.

Belfastlassie · 28/10/2020 12:33

i think the programme should have given them extra cash to cover the vandalism repairs. I am beginning to think all the contestants are being set up to fail. Simon keeps taking cheap offers to get the houses sold on time.

Blueberrycreampie · 28/10/2020 13:06

Yes but losing up to 40k is going to leave a big hole in the programme planners' budget. It's like they can't give them away - I fail to believe they struggle that much. Even Purple Bricks could get moreGrin.

Blueberrycreampie · 28/10/2020 13:09

I wondered about that.
Rigsmoll · 28/10/2020 17:09

It gets worse. Simon is sneaky, doesn’t mention fees taxes etc etc to the young people, and gives them an impossible budget. 27th October House was broken into when nearly finished, but they got no extra budget or time So lost enthusiasm and money. 28th similar thing happened and despite Simon “helping” to replace joists, when it came to selling, surprise, the joists throughout were condemned! This is just reality type tv and not what it says on the tin.

rumred · 28/10/2020 17:16

I enjoy watching it but god it's hard work.
Like others have said it's madness to rip out kitchen carcasses. What a waste of resources and money. Most seem too young and inexperienced for the level of work needed. (Was going to say gormless but trying to be generous)
The burglary yesterday - must have been an inside job or an angry ex. The damage was so comprehensive. No chancing burglar/vandal would bother smashing every tile and door.
All a bit bizarre

mum2jakie · 28/10/2020 19:08

Felt really bad for today's couple. It really does seem an impossible task to make any profit!

StillCoughingandLaughing · 28/10/2020 20:34

I also wondered if there was something dodgy going on yesterday given that they weren’t given any extra time, even though someone a couple of days earlier had had the clock reset when his partner pulled out.

LagneyandCasey · 28/10/2020 21:59

Today's couple worked so hard for less than a couple of grand each. They were let down by the plumber so couldn't get the basics done within the six months to get the place mortgageable. What a kick in the teeth after all that effort.

I didn't understand what was up with the floor at the end? Simon did some work on the joists himself but didn't notice the whole lot was rotten? They carried on and laid the new flooring and skirting, but the while lot had to be redone at a huge cost wiping out pretty much all their profit.

Then he did his 'disappointed' monologue at the end listing everything they did wrong and they didn't have the right to reply.

It's as if they're being set up to fail in the name of entertainment Hmm. The only winners here are the auction finance company.

BedknobsNoBroomsticks · 28/10/2020 22:11

After watching the last couple this programme is just a really bad reality show.

At the end of yesterdays show when Simon went round the house and said oh this looks good, yeah because we did it. Was bloody rude. Unless there was something that he wasn't telling us it wasnt the two blokes fault the place was vandalised.

Then todays wasn't much better. Simon helped replace a couple of joists but at the end of the show the whole floor had to be ripped out because the floor was not fit for purpose. However the couple bragged about how they got the whole bathroom, downstairs toilet and boiler for £1300 but yet they were all useless because they either hadn't been installed or had been installed wrong.

The fees are huge I would like to see a breakdown of them.

Blueberrycreampie · 28/10/2020 23:16

Auction fees are ridiculously high!
