Anyone watching.
I've enjoyed the 2 episodes I've seen.

The couple should get two thirds of the money. The other lady didn't do as much as the couple.
Colin was brilliant.

I did notice that it wasn’t made clear at the end how the profit would be split. Usually Damon Grant makes a point of saying ‘That’s £x Rach’.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 17/10/2020 08:27

Rach? Each!

I don't think that's fair. Jane didn't ask to be teamed with a couple. Colin's wife did her bit, but also seemed a bit controlling and caused conflict. Jane deserved her half!
ArsenicNLace · 17/10/2020 12:03

I was perturbed about pastel yellow in the hallway looking 'regal'.I would never have described yellow in any form as 'regal'. Surely regal is purple?

That's when I felt sorry for single woman because she wasn't allowed an opinion. There was no compromise & I'm sure that issue was repeated throughout the 6 months.

I did love the point when Simon showed her how to build that wall. He was so lovely with her. I think I have a little crush.

LagneyandCasey · 17/10/2020 12:47

Agree about the lemon. It didn't look great. Dark jewel colours are regal. The black tiles were a mistake too. Removing and replacing them is a big job so they could put buyers off.

Stick to white and you can't go wrong. Use accessories for a bit of interest and colour.

Simon is really lovely. I loved him in Brookside and remember being devastated when he died Sad. Looking forward to next week.

thelastmullercorner · 17/10/2020 13:19

I hope Jane got half too. I have a feeling Colin's wife may have not been the easiest to get on with... When she insisted on a regal colour for 'her' hall, me and my husband were guessing red or purple - when we saw the pastel yellow Shock

Simon seems like a genuinely nice person, I like it when he gives them a hand and shows them some new skills. He does talk so slow at the end though when he says how much money they got for the house, it's like X-factor Grin

LadyEloise · 17/10/2020 17:43

The single lady wasn't around for much of the renovation that's why I felt that Colin and partner should get two thirds.
Actually Colin deserves seven eighths of the money. Smile
He was brilliant.

@Doubleyikes
I totally agree re the couple ripping out the kitchen and bathroom- that was nuts !
They were perfectly usable.
They should have spruced up the hall door and front and back garden.
As somebody working as an estate agent she should have known better.

Another oh dear on today's. A 7k retrospective invoice from the girl's boyfriend; it must have been obvious that could never be allowed surely.

I think they did a good job on the garden, but rather dubious about planting loads of willow in an urban garden...high maintenance to keep under control.

LagneyandCasey · 19/10/2020 18:32

The bare arsed cheek of it. She insisted on an extension, which I'm sure Noam didn't really want, and then expected her bf to be paid for doing it. I'm glad they didn't get away with it.

There's no way they were going to get all that done for £14k. They should have just done a good quality renovation with the floor plan as it was, made the garden beautiful and dressed the hell out of it. They would had a lot more interest and some profit.

Leaving it dirty for the viewings is really short sighted. People will wonder what else they haven't bothered to do if they can't even bother to clean up some dust.

Such a frustrating show to watch!

lynsey91 · 19/10/2020 20:42

I really did not like the woman on today's show. She was determined that there would be an extension. The guy did not want it, Simon did not think it was a good idea and it was just not needed.

To then think her boyfriend was entitled to £7,000! What a cheeky cow. I think that was her way of trying to ensure she, at least, made some profit

thelastmullercorner · 19/10/2020 21:42

I can't get over the cheek of the girl on this evening's episode! Insisting on an extension, and then trying to get 7k out when it looked like it wasn't going to make any money (most likely because she tried to do an extension and renovate a house for 14k).

I felt so sorry for Noam, I think by the end when it was all dusty etc he'd given up. He did a great job just to get it on the market, and I thought it was really good of Simon to send his mate to help.

I've just read this back and I think I'm too invested Blush

I love it.

Hi fellow addict. I can see it until Friday 30th on my TV. Nine more episodes Grin
TweeBree · 20/10/2020 12:02

LagneyandCasey Wahoo! Hopefully they're airing them from best pairing to worst. Grin

I'm catching up on yesterday. Can't believe the cheek of that girl asking for her boyfriend to get paid!!

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 20/10/2020 12:45

I honestly don't know where they find the contestants on this show, most of them were so lazy and can't be arsed. One of the couples that did really well ended up with hardly anything in the end after the sale sell fell through, really felt for them after all their hard work. Will obviously still watch the program though!

ArsenicNLace · 20/10/2020 13:16

I do wonder, when the contestants at the beginning say they have no practical skills (apart from painting), but then say they know loads of people in the trades who will be happy to help, if they've actually had that conversation with these tradesmen.

There does seem to be an assumption that because your half cousin twice removed is a plasterer they will be quite happy to come and plaster their house for free on what is presumably their day off thereby enabling the contestant to make a profit. I do think a lot of these contestants assume they'll get free help but are told 'no' when they ask. There's been quite a few who have boasted of tradesmen connections who have never delivered said trades people.

Having said all that the woman yesterday was completely out of order. She'd clearly realised that they were going to struggle to make a profit and thought she'd benefit by getting her boyfriend to charge retrospectively for his labour. Shock

LagneyandCasey · 20/10/2020 13:21

Blessed I don't think they actually realise what they're getting into.

They often seem genuinely shocked by the state of the houses, shocked again by the budget amount and shocked again when they realise it will take up all their spare time to turn a profit.

Once it becomes clear they've made plans that are too ambitious, too expensive and too time consuming they give up. Usually one gives up before the other causing the conflict.

It's such a shame because with a realistic plan, common sense with the budget (saving kitchens and bathrooms where they can or buying second hand etc) and a lot of hard work they should all have made some profit.

But it's good tele Wink

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 20/10/2020 16:18

Today's looks really interesting, can't wait to see what they do with the place.

loobylou10 · 20/10/2020 16:27

Wow these 2 are idiots. It's shocking that they've been let loose on this beautiful place.

LagneyandCasey · 20/10/2020 16:31

30k to convert a chapel Shock. If they manage it they could get a huge profit.

loobylou10 · 20/10/2020 16:35

I'm Predicting they won't manage it!

LagneyandCasey · 20/10/2020 16:59

That was good. A bit of profit and the benefit of experience. A shame we don't get to see it finished as it was a lovely place.

I hope Craig David is very happy there Grin
