Old thread full, so here we go again.

Going back to the last point on the old thread, I agree that they’re writing well for Tracy now. She’s still got her hard side, but they’ve made her caring in a straight talking way, rather than just a full-on bitch.

I certainly can't be arsed with watching Todd, Billy and Paul having the same conversation over and over again, until Billy inevitably gives into biblical temptation with Todd at Xmas and reveals the glory of his lord shining all around on Eileen's hearth rug.

eggandonion · 22/10/2020 16:23

Aw go on, watch. I've been watching since about 1970, my mother was a fan of Jerry Booth who worked with Len. I probably watch out of habit, and a need to have a bit of a sit down.

desperatehousewife21 · 22/10/2020 16:27

I don’t get David selling the house, but then wanting to rent it off the buyer? Just don’t sell it? Confused

JamieLeeCurtains · 22/10/2020 16:32

@eggandonion, I suppose I'll have to watch it a bit to stay on this thread!

@desperatehousewife21 Don't even get me going on David and Shona and the sell-to-rent story. Yeah, let's all unlock the equity in our sinkholes.

eggandonion · 22/10/2020 16:53

I have to keep watching to find out what the sinkhole is all about.

Roussette · 22/10/2020 17:04

i watched as a child with Albert Tatlock, Minnie Caldwell, and Ena in the 'snug' all in black and white. I'm old

Our pub has a snug!

eddiemairswife · 22/10/2020 17:18

I still don't understand how someone can make a sinkhole.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 22/10/2020 17:34

Or how, when David phoned the water board for help, he got through to Ray’s lackey.

@frewer I have watched since those days too, but I gave up watching regularly this year. I did get rehooked on the Yasmeen/Geoff storyline but since they’ve dropped it again, I have dropped Corrie. I feel cleansed. Grin

I lurk on these threads to see if the Yasmeen story is back and as soon as I see “Gemma” “Leanne” I’m reassured I’m not missing anything.

eggandonion · 22/10/2020 18:30

I think it is possible to dig a big hole, but Sinkholes are a whole other hole. I need to know how this has happened in case anyone would creep around into my back garden and do this. Nightmare scenario.

😂😂😂

As for Dev's shite acting, he's Oscar winning standard compared to Ed Bailey!

JamieLeeCurtains · 22/10/2020 18:50

The famous Mancunian Way sinkhole took a year and £6 million to resolve.

I'm not entirely convinced the writers have quite thought this one through. An actual sinkhole in Greater Manchester is a civic emergency, it's in the Big Fecking Handbook of Emergency Planning, and the fact that Sally 'Former Councillor and Mayor' Metcalfe isn't remotely interested in her home now being uninsurable and worthless - which she would know from the interminable briefings she will have been subjected to, along with the joys of 'local government finance' - is risible.

I mean, come on.

frewer · 22/10/2020 19:03

What happened to the earth that the invisible diggers dug out of that huge hole in David's garden when no one was looking?

Why was Mrs Bailey so excellent as Mrs Tembe in Doctors and so terrible in Corrie?

Why did all the women fancy Paul when he first appeared?

And the strangest one of all, why have the Baileys still got a temporary bannister?

woodhill · 22/10/2020 19:06

Why does Billy never do any church work, write sermons or shepherd his flock?

Remember the Marcus storyline

PoloNeckKnickers · 22/10/2020 19:16

I think Emily spent more time at church than Billy does Hmm

Deadringer · 22/10/2020 19:27

I reckon there are enough crap actors on the street to fill up that sinkhole. (With a few to spare)

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 22/10/2020 20:01

I’m hanging onto the hope that the temporary bannister is a sign that the Corrie bosses are not going to invest any more money on a set of a family who are not going to stay on the street........🙏 and yes frewer she was so good as Mrs Tembe but just so bad in Corrie but then she had far better storylines in Doctors so could really get into the role (how bad is it that a daytime soap is so much better than a prime time one), she has never done much at all in the street on an individual basis, no actual storyline for her, she is just the backdrop to the rest of the family, generally just stirring a pot in the kitchen or fluffing the occasional sofa cushion whilst shouting up the banisterless stairs.........

StillCoughingandLaughing · 22/10/2020 20:01

Why was Mrs Bailey so excellent as Mrs Tembe in Doctors and so terrible in Corrie?

Lorna Laidlaw said herself that she struggled with the accent at first, having spent six years being Nigerian (and being a Brummie in real life).

eggandonion · 22/10/2020 20:20

I rarely saw Doctors, but it seemed excellent! Is it still on?
I fear the temporary bannister is a potential deathtrap. I fell badly on stairs and have a bunion as a result. That would be a good storyline.
Emily was a lovely, gentle character. Not shouty.

Clawdy · 22/10/2020 20:25

Why is Toyah wearing so much makeup at the moment? Her cheeks looked so red.

eggandonion · 22/10/2020 20:33

Maybe she felt th make up department made her look pale and miserable. If they are let loose to do their own, they go crazy?

BaconAndAvocado · 22/10/2020 20:34

Clawdy I thought that too re Toyah's make up.

I'm loving Natasha's hair though.

Mollypolly2610 · 22/10/2020 20:57

I thought that Toyah looked like Una Stubbs in Wurzel Gummidge (Aunt Sally). Far too much make up.

thenightsky · 23/10/2020 19:42

What was Gary making a face for when Todd was mentioned? Do they have history I've forgotten?

PhoebeSnow · 23/10/2020 19:43

Sarah had a baby boy called Billy with Todd before he came out
