So bad and full of cliches but SO addictive, I'm half way through the 10 episodes and can't stop watching. Lily Collins is memorising.

I finished it last night and it was so good. Felt like I was in dreamland Confused even though apparently Paris is nothing like that

paintmywholehousepink · 04/10/2020 09:19

Which channel is it on?

baremineral · 04/10/2020 09:20

It's on Netflix. It's next on my list to watch.

hopeishere · 04/10/2020 09:25

Binged the whole thing yesterday. Paris is stunning in this. The streets are hilariously empty!!

It's predictable and cliched. Lots in handsome men. Accents slipping all over the place. The main male lead is SO good looking. Haughty French women. Ridiculous clothes.

It's from the creator of Sex and the City.

Loved it!!

ParadiseLaundry · 04/10/2020 09:36

Ah it's amazing. Beautiful, mindless fluff! Hope they make a second series!

Ulysses · 04/10/2020 10:49

I gulped it up, despite alarm bells with the cliches and the dubious morality of the romantic storylines.

Loved the clothes and impractical heels and the sitting outside cafe's drinking wine (even though I am tee total).

I've been to Paris a couple of times and it's a city where the locals slightly terrify me.

OneToThree · 04/10/2020 11:54

On episode 2. Easy, beautiful viewing.

Mooserp · 04/10/2020 11:59

I'm only a few episodes in but I wonder what the French make of it? Apart from showing (most of) them as very stylish and attractive, there's all the smoking, rudeness, treating affairs as commonplace...

Singingrain1223 · 04/10/2020 12:15

@Mooserp , there is lots of feedback on Twitter and much of it in French, I would love to know what they think!

I loved it!!!

I worked in a French office (I'm British) many times in Paris and so many of the clichés are genuinely true. It was of course all silly but rom coms are!

Wish there was another series.

SavageBeauty73 · 05/10/2020 21:46

I really enjoyed it and loved the silliness and cliches. A welcome respite from rid shit storm of 2020. Hopefully there's a second series.

longhaulstress · 05/10/2020 21:53

Only on episode 3 but I'm loving it.
Yes it feels a bit cliched but it's exactly what I fancy watching at the moment a lovely bit of escapism!

Pumpertrumper · 05/10/2020 21:57

I’m addicted!

It’s kinda like a nice Blair Warldorf moves to Paris and lives an early 20’s sex in the city life.

Have noticed the accent slips though.

supercee · 06/10/2020 11:12

I loved it too and makes me want to move to Paris immediately. I love Paris anyway but this has been great escapism, silly or not.

I noticed the accent slips but I went on IMDB and the actors are French?!

hopeishere · 06/10/2020 11:23

I did that too @supercee and saw they were French! It's weird.

LilOldMe · 06/10/2020 11:25

I love it. It's as easy to watch as the equally cliched The Bold Type on Amazon Prime.

Mooserp · 06/10/2020 16:47

It is very nice to watch. I wish Paris really was like that! So quiet and clean and no traffic.

Moanranger · 07/10/2020 22:59

I am enjoying it. Re the accents, I think the French actors English has various origins. Emily’s boss sounds like she learned her English in US, so it sound different to some of the others. Gabriel has a strange nasal accent.
The weirdest is the Chinese friend. An obvious Chinese-American, but her role is a wealthy Chinese girl who studied & worked in France- but accent completely wrong.
Good writing, and truth in some of the cliches.

Rae36 · 07/10/2020 23:04

I want to love it, it's the sort of glamorous escapism I usually really like but there is something quite annoying about Emily for me. I don't know what it is. I want to like her cute innocence and charm and bubbly personality but she just irritates me, like a stone in your shoe. So I'm giving up. I think I'm on episode 5. I really don't care what happens to her next.

Hiccupiscal · 07/10/2020 23:07

I saw this advertised, and as an old school SATC fan, I was curious if its along the same lines as SATC?! I would love and up to date version of SATC and would love to give this a binge watch on a rainy autumn day!

MistyMinge2 · 07/10/2020 23:07

I'm really loving it. It reminds me of when I was a twenty something in a flat share and we'd watch sex and the city together. Totally clichéd etc etc, but so easy to watch and leaves me with a smile on my face. Just what 2020 needed imo.

I'm half french and lived in Paris for 4 years and Nantes for 4 years. Hopefully I'll qualify to say what I make of it Grin

I love this programme.

Its made me laugh, even at the cliches, because I've seen them (and dare I say, done some of them myself)

The only thing I'll say is Paris is beautiful. But like all capital cities, it is busy and sometimes dirty. They have put a "tv" glow on the city. But that's fine.

happilybemused · 08/10/2020 17:11

A guilty pleasure. The fact that it is abroad in these travel restricted times is enough to make me love it. Mind you, I also loved the new Dynasty. Lockdown has a lot to answer for

I agree. I watched the whole thing and I found Emily totally annoying and shallow; all these really brilliant ideas for social media and constantly selfie-ing and posting on SM. But I guess that's what the whole thing is about and I guess I'm just too old and don't get it.

It's a nice time-waster though and addictive and I WILL watch a second series.

Paris is gorgeous as usual. I lived there for a year in my youth, so a bit nostalgic for me

byvirtue · 10/10/2020 11:45

Paris was the star of the show for me. It was one giant cliche but a welcome distraction given the current real life we are “living”.
