So bad and full of cliches but SO addictive, I'm half way through the 10 episodes and can't stop watching. Lily Collins is memorising.

Utterly needed and loved it. What a stunner, very Audrey h in 1⃣ scene.

Amazing please do series 2!! How ever definitely not a 12 with the sex references!! My goodness!!

Literallynoidea · 26/10/2020 10:12

I loved it, although found Emily very annoying and unsexy and American and also FAR too thin.

Am I sounding middle-aged enough?

I also lived in Paris and loved the streetscape - although agree with PPs that it's filthy and they do not show that!

Also how hot is Gabriel OMG

notafanoftheman · 29/10/2020 08:15

FFS at all the MNers claiming to be experts on France after spending a year as a teaching assistant. The clichés are all nonsense, people work hard and don't generally think affairs are a good thing. A lot of French people are hating on the show and I can really see why, it's quite offensive in its stereotyping. I'm only sticking with it for the hot men.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 29/10/2020 13:03

All I know is that I'm desperate for the perfect omelette and I'm off to make one right now. Thanks Emily's chef neighbour!

I never expected to like this but then I didn't know it was a SATC for younguns.

lightyearsahead · 29/10/2020 13:13

Loved it. Emily is annoying and has questionable fashion sense but I love her (Phil Collin's daughter do you know). Loved the French cliché's, loved the sanitized Paris. Cringed, laughed and chocked on my croissant. Sylvie is my favourite.
Not really a fan of SATC but loved this.
Also loved Call My Agent also on Netflx.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 29/10/2020 14:21

@lightyearsahead - I think Sylvie speaks to a lot of us.

jambeforeclottedcream · 29/10/2020 14:35

So bad it was amazing

Can't remember the last time I saw something with so many cliches and stereotypes

Have a major crush on Gabriel

CheetasOnFajitas · 05/11/2020 15:57

@Moanranger

I am enjoying it. Re the accents, I think the French actors English has various origins. Emily’s boss sounds like she learned her English in US, so it sound different to some of the others. Gabriel has a strange nasal accent. The weirdest is the Chinese friend. An obvious Chinese-American, but her role is a wealthy Chinese girl who studied & worked in France- but accent completely wrong. Good writing, and truth in some of the cliches.
The character said that she went to high school in Minnesota.

Just watched it and enjoyed. I love anything set in Paris.

Wow I didn’t know she is Phil Collins’ daughter. And she’s 31 but looks about 19.

happilybemused · 14/11/2020 07:01

There is going to be a second series.

Good news 🗞

blueskywhy · 16/11/2020 13:05

I understand some of the criticisms, but regardless I really enjoyed it. Paris looked wonderful, the clothes were amazing.

It's also a bit of a change to see a show dealing with sex without explicit visuals (my sister referred to it as "Paris in Emily" since she got to know so many beautiful guys so quickly!)

goldielockdown2 · 16/11/2020 17:35

Another series? Yay!

teaandcustardcreamsx · 16/11/2020 17:46

Recently seen they’ve also upped the rating to a 15

happilybemused · 17/11/2020 17:38

TakeUsHome · 20/11/2020 13:01

I really enjoyed it. Paris looked great. I wonder when they filmed it? I've been in Paris when it was way too crowed, way too hot, way too cold, but they seem to have picked a perfect time.

@blueskywhy re "Paris in Emily", the chef was from Normandy, the teenager from Champagne, and only the snob academic from Paris. While, she came three times (go Emily!!) , we don't know how :) Again, the lack of explicit sex scenes was interesting!

Hope the next series is as enjoyable!

TheLuckiest · 16/01/2021 12:50

Just finished this last night.

What a load of glossy, cliched, ridiculous fluff.

LOVED it. Perfect escapist rubbish.

I actually yelled 'NOOOOO!' at the end of the last episode as I thought there were 2 more eps to go. Grin

They set it up perfectly for Season 2.

CarryOnPlainHunting · 22/01/2021 07:06

For those missing Emily in Paris I strongly recommend Call My Agent, I started watching yesterday and am loving it so far. Very funny and lots of gorgeous Paris scenes.
