So bad and full of cliches but SO addictive, I'm half way through the 10 episodes and can't stop watching. Lily Collins is memorising.

Is it appropriate for quite a grown up 12 year old? We love going to Paris and have happy memories of last half term there be nice to relive

Binge watched this series and loved it! Pure escapism and makes me want to run away to Paris...

@Mooserp I'm only a few episodes in but I wonder what the French make of it? Apart from showing (most of) them as very stylish and attractive, there's all the smoking, rudeness, treating affairs as commonplace.

There's no graphic sex but a LOT of sex talk, men coming on strong and making inappropriate comments, Emily having noisy sex with men she doesn't know at all who turn out to be jerks.

I wouldn't allow a 12 year old to watch it. But then I'm an old prude! ;)

Hmmm I would probably say it's okay, there is some sex in it but nothing overly graphic, and the content beside that isn't shocking or anything. Maybe watch it first and judge?

I really enjoyed it, yes there were many clichés (including Emily as a sterotypical American), but actually it has made me really want to go back to Paris, despite knowing it's not actually anything like it's shown really. I didn't watch it and think pah the French seem terrible or anything, I found it easy watching but weirdly addictive. Loved the clothes too, and though LC was great.

I’m enjoying it as a guilty pleasure. Emily is annoying but I’m overlooking that.

I studied in Lyon so recognise the rudeness of the French (you get used to it) and the fact they are barely ever at work. The long lunches over bottles of wine. They have the right idea! And yes the affairs!

I watched it all in two days.

I've just finished watching it today. I'm a massive SATC fan and I did enjoy EIP but it was very candy floss and I never truly got to know any of the characters.
However still hoping there will be a second season because Paris is the major star!

I tried one episode but hated it. I especially hated Emily. How annoying can anyone be? All I wanted her to do was to fall over on those ridiculous heels and break a skinny leg. I guess she's supposed to be kooky and naïve yet attractive, like so many USA characters (New Girl, anyone?). Isn't there a trope for this like Fantasy Pixie Girl?
And what does she actually DO? Beyond think up stupid catchlines? Is that a job now (one that pays enough for that lifestyle)?
I am obviously not the right demographic.

I started watching it last night, and I’m loving it. Yes Emily is SO annoying. But not enough to put me off.

It’s reminding me of a previous life, not living in Paris but travelling lots with work and the freedom and spontaneity to do whatever you wanted. Wonderful times

And loving the outfits. It’s making me miss getting dressed up for work

Emily was so annoying! It was rather fluffy and fun although I found it better as background noise while writing tbh

For me, this was a programme purely for American audiences. Anybody who has spent any time in Paris knows they only showed the pretty bits and not the filthy shithole bits. I love Paris and have spent a lot of time there but it is without doubt one of the dirtiest cities in the western world, EIP definitely showed the airbrushed version.

It seemed to me a vehicle for the creators to say ‘they do this in Europe, how annoying is this?!’ such as our date configuration, storeys of buildings having a ‘ground floor’ etc.

I binged in all in two days and sustained a grade 2 eye-roll injury.

@supercee french DP watched a few episodes with me and claims that when french actors make shows for English audiences they all speak really unnaturally and over enunciate. So I would guess the accent slips are related to that?

Also in my own experience with DP- his accent goes all over the place depending on who he is speaking to. He hardly has any french accent when speaking with me but when speaking English to french people he sounds very french.

I enjoyed it, easy escapism but they all spoke way too much English.

MsTSwift Camille, the blonde woman really reminds me of someone famous and I've been racking my brains to think of who it could be! Yes Obama, but there's someone else, another actress. Anyone have any ideas?

Yup, it's absolute garbage but I loved every second of it. Can't wait for season 2

Her desperation and relentless naive bubblyness are irritating, but for some reason I'm still watching 😂
It does make Paris look amazing, the soundtrack and fashion are good and some interesting characters!
