Are there any shows/series or documentaries that you wish you could watch again?

I'd love to see the A Boy Called Alex documentaries again but they don't seem to be online. Also Faking It, if anyone remembers that from about twenty years ago.

What programmes do you wish were available again?

I absolutely loved BBC's Castaway set on Taransay in the Outer Hebridies. It made me want to move to a remote Scottish island! Wish they would put in on iplayer.

Does anyone remember Wish Me Luck?
It would have been on in the 80s, and I was allowed to stay up and watch it.
It was about female wireless dropped into France to work undercover.
And ever since I’ve quite fancied being a spy!

Livingthecovidaloca · 20/09/2020 10:02

That should say wireless operators!

I remember watching an American TV drama as a teen (so in the 80s) about the US civil war, with Patrick Swayze as a soldier fighting for the South and his good friend who he met at West Point fighting for the North. I remember being absolutely enthralled by it (well, Patrick Swayze in uniform!) and would love to see how well/badly it's aged.

D'oh! Forgot to say that it was called North and South 😂

Quite a few of these series have been shown on channels like ITV4 and Drama. Wish Me Luck and the House of Elliott have been shown. Quantum Leap was also shown on the SciFi channel. Typically none of them on at the minute though!

Ambulance Australia. I've watched them all and I'm really sad about it!

@JonasKahnwald
Yes, Chimera! And the Enchanted Castle. I never knew if it was real or just a dream I had about children climbing into a stone dinosaur. I must have been very young when I watched it.

@user1471464218 Marchlands is in BritBox and I can’t find who mentioned a Liverpool One but I watched it quite recently on Prime

One Summer with David Morrisey, c1984. I've often thought of it, full of teenage emotion, totally resonated with younger me.

JaneJeffer · 21/09/2020 10:54

Northern Exposure

JonasKahnwald · 21/09/2020 15:45

@RomanMum oh it was the Enchanted Castle thankyou! Must see if I can find d it anywhere.

anuffername · 21/09/2020 16:25

Thirtysomething.

I read recently (possibly on here) that they are making a new series with the same cast - hope they re-run the original series first.

We don't have access to any of the usual "catch-up" options as we are not in the UK Sad

TinyMetalBirds · 21/09/2020 16:31

@RomanMum

No Angels.

From childhood: Knightmare and Captain Zep Space Detective. DH is convinced I'm making that one up but I remember it well

I remember Captain Zep, i thought it was brilliant, a bit like a Choose Your Own Adventure book - there was a mystery on a spaceship and the kids in the audience had to help solve it - as far as remember. I think they had buttons to do voting with but may have made that up.

I would like to see the Adventure Game - some of them are on Youtube but I believe some are lost forever. And Archers Goon - I didn't watch it at the time but I have read the book to the kids and we liked it - again it is on Youtube but not great quality. Also Box of Delights, but I am sure that is available on DVD.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 21/09/2020 16:32

I was just thinking about Cracker the other day and how engrossed I was with it at the time. I suspect it would be very dated now.

I have Northern Exposure on DVD and watched it again a couple of years ago, it's still really good. I'm a lot more bothered by the age difference between Shelly and Holling now I'm in my 50s than I was when I was in my 20s.

TinyMetalBirds · 21/09/2020 16:35

Chimera. I think it had Charles Dance in it.

The Charles Dance one was called First Born, but having Googled it looks like there was a series called Chimera as well with what seems a very similar story!

Sarahandduck18 · 21/09/2020 16:59

Honey we’re killing the kids
The very first season of wife swap
The very first big brother and the real world in USA
7up and the ones in different countries
There was an awful documentary about FGM years ago- can’t remember the title but it opened my eyes to the horror of it
Hardcore- the c4 documentary ‘enlightened’ me as to the true nature of the porn industry- I wouldnt watch it again but I’d want to be able to direct people to a version of it.
