I'd love to see the A Boy Called Alex documentaries again but they don't seem to be online. Also Faking It, if anyone remembers that from about twenty years ago.

What programmes do you wish were available again?

Quantum leap too - with that excitement of a new episode every week, none of that binge watchingGrin
Also early Casualty

I'd love to see a follow-up to Honey We're Killing The Kids, to see whether the kids really did end up like either of their computer-generated images of the future. There were only ever two possible outcomes:

Fat - sulking, greasy hair, dressed in a dirty T-shirt
Slim - smiling, beautiful teeth/hair, dressed in a formal suit

In fact I'd like to see follow-ups to lots of lifestyle programmes, especially ones involving cooking/diet/exercise!

Loved Eerie Indiana - I can vaugley remember an episode where twins were kept forever young by sleeping in human sized tupperware containers, they were put to bed and lids burped at night Grin

There was a comedy series in the 80's called all Clear on the Preston Front... I think about a group of friends in the T.A I can rember the whole family being in stitches, I wonder if its as funny now?
Another one - Putting on The Ritz.

I'd like to re-watch Veronica Mars that I binge watched whilst night feeding... seems a lifetime ago now.

Criminal Justice and it was the one where Maxine Peake was married to a man that was a QC, played by Joe McFadden, and he was so very controlling, and he anally raped her most nights, checked up on her all day and she wasn’t ‘allowed’ to go anywhere except supermarket, garden and places for the family, he checked how many miles had been driven that day in the car and kept a note of it, she eventually killed him and the courts had to decide was it in self defence or premeditated, she didn’t even seem to know herself that she was most definitely an abused woman.

It’s the only think I seen Maxine Peake in after Shameless, and it was a part a world away from the character of Veronica, it was brilliant and it was in 2008/09.

Happy Valley and the writer of this has said that there will be a season 3 as more stories would come from the grandson of Cat, being a teenager, yet it’s not in production yet, that was one amazing program and it had great British actors in it.

I would also love Shameless UK to come back but only with Fiona, Steve, Veronica and Kev, plus the whole Gallagher clan and the Maguires, I’m currently watching it all over again on Netflix and it’s made me realise just how fantastic this show was, though I think it was James McAvoy and Annemaries Duff’s breakout roles (played Fiona & Steve)and they went on to better, why can’t some actors just stick with British TV and not always want to crack the US? I’m being selfish but still.Confused

The Crow Road which was on in the 90s. I don't think it's been repeated.

And yes to the pp who said Maggie.

woodhill · 19/09/2020 16:46

Sea of souls - really good series

Penmaric

JonasKahnwald · 19/09/2020 21:06

Chimera. I think it had Charles Dance in it.
Also Maelstrom as other posters have suggested. Oh and The Enchanted Garden i think it was called. A children's programme and the kids in it climbed inside dinosaur statues in the garden. Or something 🤔

GetRid · 19/09/2020 21:12

ITV's The World At War, narrated by Lawrence Olivier.

Honestly, it should be shown in schools, especially the first episode which begins with the French village that was massacred by the Nazis.

Rowanberries · 19/09/2020 21:14

I really want to sit and ogle the mountie binge watch Due South. It's on Sony channel on weekdays but I can't watch it every day so I have missed loads of it. bloody work

BoneAppleTeeth · 19/09/2020 21:15

Child Of Our Time right from the beginning, I'd love to binge watch all the series together but they never seem to be repeated or shown anymore.

Inmyownlittlecorner · 19/09/2020 21:24

@SantanaBinLorry, I used to love All Quiet On The Preston Front too!
I’d love to watch Sex, Chips & Rock & Roll again. It was a late 90’s tv series set in the 1950’s.
Also Fringe, Malcolm in the Middle, Up the garden path & 2.4 children.
I have really fond memories of watching The Holiday Programme & Wish you Were Here in the evening with my parents. They also used to record the (usually BBC) made for TV movies & I’d love to see a few of them again. The ones whose titles I can (semi) remember are:
Ball Trap on The Cote Savage with Zoë Wanamaker
Happy Feet with Phylis Logan
Over Here with Samuel West.

kerkyra · 19/09/2020 21:32

It was a programme hosted by Lisa Tarbuck years ago. You had to decide who out of a range of different characters and their circumstances deserved to 'win' a large sum of money.
Off to Google it as it was great.

London's burning and soldier soldier- the TV of my childhood. New tricks and a ITV drama about a house over 3 times, march something? From about 2010.

Also looked recently for fat friends/ the syndicate/ in the club and couldn't find any Kay mellor dramas on Freeview or Amazon prime...I don't have Netflix.

user1471464218 · 19/09/2020 21:37

No angels was on C4 during lockdown. It hasn't aged well imo. But I still watched them all!!!

IKEA888 · 19/09/2020 21:45

Oh I loved Maggie

Tutti frutti and The crow road have been repeated on the bbc scotland channel.

I loved Faking It! Do you remember the very quiet posh young gay man from the country who was learning to be a bouncer somewhere in East London? I remember finding it really moving how much confidence he gained - he ended up coming out to his friends and family, and moving to Australia with his partner.

stella47 · 19/09/2020 21:51

Yes, I just started watching No Angels on More 4 - remember watching with my sisters back in the day.

bellinisurge · 19/09/2020 21:55

The Wire

stella47 · 19/09/2020 22:05

Does anyone remember "Wings"? It was on in the days when there were only three channels! It was set on an English air base, during wartime. It was all about the airmen. One was injured and lost his legs. I remember it mainly because of it being the first programme where I proper fancied one of the characters! I'd love to see it again, but have never found any trace of it.

JMG1234 · 19/09/2020 22:14

At last, other people that saw Maelstrom... The memory of it still terrifies me thirty odd years later. The dolls in the summer house place crying...aagh!

Guilty pleasure but Howard's Way. I loved Charles Frere and the theme tune.

squashyhat · 19/09/2020 22:17

Alias Smith and Jones. A 70s western about two Robin Hood type outlaws who would be given amnesty by the state governor if they could stay out of trouble for a period of time. Which of course they couldn't but there was always a reason. It starred Ben Murphy and Pete Duel (who committed suicide tragically young and was replaced by another actor but was never as good). As a kid me and my friends loved it and dissected every episode like we did Top of The Pops.

"And in all the trains and banks they robbed they never shot anyone. Which made them very popular with everyone but the railroads and the banks". Grin

Palavah · 19/09/2020 22:33

@Inappropriatefemale I really enjoyed it. 2 series, plus a radio spin-off
