I have been so impressed by Vika lately,

Ruud has started well in the second set. A lot of the younger players have really played well this tournament.

PrivateSpidey · 19/09/2020 13:09

Rafa-esque forehand from Ruud there!

He's good isn't he?? I've never really watched any of his matches before...

Raahh · 19/09/2020 13:16

He's my favourite Norwegian, Private Wink

Working at Rafa's academy is definitey good for him, it seems.

Raahh · 19/09/2020 14:46

So I am sitting in the cafe at Tesco, score watching, whilst I wait to hear from the groomer. Buying a simple coffee has got super complicated!

Fizzywinegum · 19/09/2020 15:51

Koepfer is a good player as well - I was impressed with him the other day. He took Djok to three sets but unfortunately Djok won.

Mama1980 · 19/09/2020 15:58

Looks like Vika is in trouble in the second set.......
I'm checking the scores in between watching/ trying to stop my daredevil ds2 crashing on the BMX track.

Raahh · 19/09/2020 16:01

I was glad to see he took him to 3 sets- hopefully rattled Djok a bit.
Koepfer is definitely one to watch - he certainly doesn't seem phased by playing the big names- which is always a good sign.

If they can all stay healthy, and injury free, it is looking pretty good long term for the men's game, players wise.

Raahh · 19/09/2020 16:02

Yes, they are both having issues with the court. It sounds like it was over watered, and both have struggled to get going this set. It seems to have thrown Vika off a bit.

Fizzywinegum · 19/09/2020 17:04

Did anyone see Azarenka complaining about the height of her bench? I just saw it at the end of the match - her legs were dangling even though she’s quite tall! The ball boy brought her a block of wood to put her feet on Grin Unfortunately it didn’t help her

Raahh · 19/09/2020 17:29

I saw that- very funny- my legs probably wouldn't have made it past the seat Grin. I can't reach the floor, ever. (apart from when I visit dd2's primary school- the kids chairs are just about right). I regularly end up with pins and needles in my feet from the dangling Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 19/09/2020 18:05

I did think of you Raahh when she was saying that she was quite tall and her legs were still dangling Grin

I am also not very tall and always struggle to get on those high bar stools!

Raahh · 19/09/2020 18:07

My dc make me sit on high stools just so they can laugh at me trying to get down again.

Evil Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 19/09/2020 18:15

That is mean Grin

Raahh · 19/09/2020 19:45

At this rate, Rafa will be playing at 10pm. And will have to play tomorrow.

Why does Djok keep getting the day matches? In the heat? Hmm

Raahh · 19/09/2020 20:14

Looks like Pliskova has got a hold on the third set in that match now, so maybe I will still be awake for Rafa Grin

PrivateSpidey · 19/09/2020 20:16

This Dimitrov match is good. Is Rafa on after this then?

I'm another one who does not like those high bar stools!!

Raahh · 19/09/2020 20:34

Rafa is about to start now- his match was due on after the Pliskova match on Centrale.

They have already had the 'Diminutive Diego' conversation.

Raahh · 19/09/2020 20:35

So, if Vika can't reach the floor on the benches- what chance does Diego have? Grin

Fizzywinegum · 19/09/2020 20:43

Poor Diego Grin. Greg said that the benches seemed high because they had to use cushions as the benches were so uncomfortable - the benches talk is catching!

It is a bit late for Rafa to be on - it’s not as if they have to consider the crowds when they’re scheduling matches

Raahh · 19/09/2020 20:46

It probably is due to the fact usually there are spectators, and tv coverage, I suppose.

Still late though, for a European match. (More normal in the US/ Aussie matches).

Raahh · 19/09/2020 21:03

I have a feeling this is going to be a stressful match.

Raahh · 19/09/2020 21:17

VAMOS Rafa.

This is not going well.

PrivateSpidey · 19/09/2020 21:22

When Delpo played Djok in Rome and had match point last year, that went on really late. I'm sure I remember watching that while everyone else here was asleep!!

I'm not able to watch Rafa as DS is watching something on Disney Plus, which demands all of the poor saggy bandwidth Grin

Maybe I should upgrade to super fast or whatever it's called.

PrivateSpidey · 19/09/2020 21:23

At least RG is on standard telly and I won't need to stream it.

Anyway, how's Rafa getting on?

Raahh · 19/09/2020 21:25

My Prime has gone off.

Given the score, I'm not as bothered as I would be.

I knew this would be tricky. And if he gets through, Shaggy is next, and he did well against Grigor.
