Not what I would normally watch but I'm hooked. Dh made me watch The Karate Kid to fully appreciate it.
Ralph Macchio hasn't aged well but the guy who plays Johnny Lawrence is lovely. It's fabulously cheesy.

We binged the cringe and now have an embarrassing habit of shouting Bonsai at odd moments. Sad I know.

We watched the original film (rewatch after many years for me, first time for my girls) before we started, watched KK2 this week after we'd finished binging series 2 and were bereft. Watched S1E1 with one daughter again tonight while the other one was out! Still laughed at all the same terrible lines

This has been a real family settle-down-In-front-of-the-tv habit. We binged on 2-3 episodes whenever we could. My DS is 13 and watched all the movies and knew the stories and characters. My DH is also obsessed and wants a Cobra Kai t-shirt - logo and motto “no mercy”. Can’t wait for the next series.

The actor playing Johnny Lawrence is a really good actor and Daniel-san (might be the new face) really isn’t.

Love how they have updated it and poke fun at 21st century “wokeness”, spoilt teenagers and middle-aged men who can’t grow up. But yet looks at dysfunctional families, lack of parental authority figures, male and female, race and just how everyone should be nice to one another. It’s really relevant to kids watching it today.

Did you know Will Smith and John Lassiter are executive producers? The writing team must have fun putting the script together and the cast can’t believe their luck - they get to do it all over again.

And apparently Elizabeth shue makes an appearance in series 3.

We were so excited to see that Ally had accepted the friend request - can't wait for Elisabeth Shue to be in it!
