The Mackenzie - Richie storyline is becoming cringey.

Clawdy · 26/11/2020 18:47

And I wish Richie would get rid of that teeny little man-bun! Doesn't suit him.

Samcro · 26/11/2020 18:55

I just can't understand why the makers of the show, think anyone would be interested in that plot.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/11/2020 19:42

Also
"Do you want to have sex some time?"
"Yeah i think so"
3 hours later ...
"So it's lunch time, shall we go to yours and have a really quick shag"

I don't think it's cringey, I know MN hates transgender, but that aside, it's good to see it being communicated between two characters and discussing if the other is comfortable. Sure, the writing is clunky, but the intent is good. And I loved the discussion with Roxy and her saying 'I dress for me'.

Less cringey than Dipi and Pierce!

Clawdy · 26/11/2020 21:28

I certainly don't hate transgender, but a scene where Mackenzie announces loudly "Richie wants to have sex!" is cringey when it's on in the afternoon and you're watching with a four year old. Wouldn't matter who was saying it, it's not great, and very typical of Neighbours at the moment.

Stellaris22 · 26/11/2020 21:50

Oh, the announcement bit was weird and just clunkily written. But I like the intent of discussing it with each other in a mature fashion. Plus Roxy was lovely.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/11/2020 22:07

I don't think it's cringey it isn't cringey because she's transgender, it's cringey because teenagers discussing whether to have sex and how about now in our free period IS cringey. It was cringey when we were teens talking about it and their writing hasn't helped. So i agree it's important and Roxy is definitely the star of the message - listen to Mama Rox kids!! But yes, i could barely watch for awks

Teens on Neighbours always announce the intention of moving things to 'the next level' to all and sundry, and it is always cringey.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 26/11/2020 23:28

I dislike Mackenzie’s character intensely - she is so sanctimonious.

Samcro · 27/11/2020 09:57

ffs its not to do with hating trans(which I don't) its about a boring character and stupid story line.

MiddleClassProblem · 27/11/2020 15:09

I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say necklace almost like it’s two separate words before...

Agreed - I cannot abide her character.

That was hilarious! I actually rewound it cos I couldn't believe my ears...

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 28/11/2020 16:11

I came on just to say I almost threw my shoe at the telly when they kept saying neck lace lol

DahliaMacNamara · 28/11/2020 16:14

I'd forgotten the neck lace. I was wondering how come I've never heard anyone say it like that before?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/11/2020 16:14

Yes - the words neck and lace do not need to socially distance!

MiddleClassProblem · 28/11/2020 16:31

😂

MiddleClassProblem · 28/11/2020 16:32

I got flashbacks to Paul pronouncing memo meemo

Clawdy · 01/12/2020 08:58

Not remotely sorry for either Dipi or Pierce. Hope Paul gets a bit of comeuppance too, though. And I really hope Chloe ends up hating horrible Nicolette!

MiddleClassProblem · 01/12/2020 09:56

I find Shane too irritating to feel sorry for him either. He’s a completely different character to a year ago.

When I’m having a depression episode, I can’t process ideas very well but I don’t have a glazed human Labrador smile either. And the way he talked to Toadie about the outdoor space the other day, what a twat.

Couldn’t give a shit if they stay together or not.

I don’t like Nicolette but I am quite enjoying her manipulative behaviour. It’s more interesting than Hendrix being a muppet or even Paul’s dick swinging. So many characters who come in to stir the pot are one dimensional.

Samcro · 01/12/2020 09:58

i am so glad the cat is out of the bag.
I hope Shane tells dipi what a hypocrite she is.

SleepingStandingUp · 01/12/2020 10:50

Agree re Nic.
She looked genuinely upset about the affair, it wasn't her sly smile, she just wanted C to know he's a dick. And now she's realising she's screwed it up. Yes she wants to be with C but I genuinely think her first motivation was just uncovering his duplicity.

I think she's a good face actor - you can tell a lot from her face whereas some actors don't have that subtlety

You had a miscarriage and didn't deal with it how I wanted and talked to your friends, of COURSE I had to shag another woman. What else could I do to assert my masculinity??
I think this odious Pierce works better with the new Pierce, I'm sad he's going

I actually really like the actress who plays Nicolette. The character is genuinely interesting and I'd like to keep learning more about her. There's a lot to her.

I also thought she seemed genuine in being upset for Chloe. She wanted to show her what Pierce was up to out of friendship and caring.

But it'll be interesting to see how it develops now.
