The Fall: Gillian Anderson.......is this normal?

So, watching this after a recommendation here

(though I say watching I am actually fast forwarding loads as there is a lot of sexual violence towards women so I skip all that)....

but this is the first time I have ever watched Gillian Anderson in anything....is this how she talks the whole time?.....in a whisper.....so slowly....

I am trying to imagine her as a coper on the beat...(as her character must have been once).... and thinking she wouldn't last 5 minutes out on the street.....now on Series 3 and it seems to be getting worse......

is this what she is always like or is it just The Fall?

Yes she's pretty much like this the whole way through.
Ive just finished watching the fall and really like it but if you're skipping all of the bits with violence towards women I'd honestly say just stop watching now.
It doesn't get any better....

I'm on Series 3 so feel like I have to finish now.......but do you know if that is how she talks in other shows, or is it just this one....?

@areallthenamesusedup she's also in Sex Education on Netflix which is much more lighthearted and fun to watch and she is brilliant in it with the same whispery voice Smile

Oh yes. Her clothes are fab in this show.

Why you are skipping the sexual violence seems odd. That's the whole point of the programme.

Having watched the whole series, I have to say that the pacing is soo slow, especially in S3.
Its like they only had plot for 2 episodes and than stretched it out.
I found myself fast forwarding and getting bored. Half way through I just wanted it to end.

I love the number of strong, capable female characters just as much as the shirts.

Agree, she looks fab in this and no she acts differently in different shows. It’s basically how she is portraying thr character in this one, sort of calm and unshakeable.

Also not sure why you’re fast forwarding any violence, that is what the show is all about.

Bit of a difference Anderson plays a detective superintendent so is plain clothes and can wear what she wishes when she wishes, Cressida dick is the commissioner of the met.

And sorry but I find it a bit sexist to comment on her heels like that. Any woman can wear what they wish.

Fair point, bluntness. I wobble on anything over 1/2 inch so am always incredulous at any person male or female who can do anything more.Smile

Urgh DH is watching this and it’s so creepy and horrible. He’s one series 3 now and I’m trying not to watch but I can’t get over the idea of leaving a serial killer who preys on young, pretty, dark haired women to be looked after by a young, pretty, dark haired nurse one her own, in a private room with no police presence outside or inside the room just a few feet from one of his victims 🤨

I think I read a book once that said soft speaking, just above a whisper was the most appealing to men 🙄 she's supposed to be ridiculously attractive to men in this series so I think that's why they have her talk like that.
