I really enjoyed Australian dramas The Slap, and The secrets she keeps.
Can anyone recommend any other series based in Australia please? The accent is cheering me up and transports me to a sunny place in lieau of a summer holiday Blush

SleepingStandingUp · 14/07/2020 21:07

The Cry? Had Coleman in it, the one who was in Dr who. Really good A

cheesycrisps · 14/07/2020 21:08

Offspring is great

TheGirlWhoLived · 14/07/2020 21:13

Please don’t do the Kettering incident. It was quite good but finishes on a cliffhanger and they never commissioned a new series after that one ended in 2017!

Can't remember the name of this light aussie drama - house ? - about 5 different housemates, stories told from their perspective. Watched it early in lockdown. Think it may have been BBC afternoon Mon to Fri originally.

It was ok. Light drama I think it could be called.

Apologies. It said it hadn't posted.

Frayed is hilarious! It's a comedy, Sky I think, with a few British faces in.

supercatlady · 14/07/2020 21:35

Seven Types of Ambiguity was good

supercatlady · 14/07/2020 21:36

Top of the Lake too - series one in NZ, series 2 Sydney

Offspring was great.

600/800 ? Words was great too

Livingthecovidaloca · 14/07/2020 21:37

I was going to say Wentworth, but definitely not sunny!

Cloudstreet

There’s quite a few on Netflix.

Stateless is brilliant. I enjoyed the Code as well.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 14/07/2020 21:45

Offspring is bloody fantastic. I've watched it through (all 6 I think wonderful seasons) one and a half times (the second half. When you watch it you'll see why Wink) during lockdown. I am in love with Asher Kedde and found myself yesterday wondering which curtains would Nina Proudman pick? I think may be turning into Nina Proudman. And would not might that one bit 😁

At the moment I'm watching Stateless. 3 actors from Offspring in it. Australian TV always used to be a bit like that remember!! There seemed so few actors they'd be in everything. (I wasa huge fan of Prisoner Cell Block H!)

I used to love The Secret Life of Us on channel 4, but i don’t think they ever showed the last series and now i can’t find it anywhere on UK streaming. I would love to watch it again - as you said, there was something so cheering about the accents and the sunshine.

Darkestseasonofall · 14/07/2020 21:49

Wow, I wasn't really expecting any responses, so thanks!
I'll definitely have a look at all these.
@SleepingStandingUp I saw the Cry, forgot to mention it, bloody brilliant it was!

Offspring is great. As was Siblings (or was it sisters?). The Let Down was also enjoyable. Secret Life of Us was great but never saw the third series either.

LizzieMacQueen · 14/07/2020 22:05

There are two versions of The Slap aren't there ? Because I'm sure i watched one (ch4?) then the one (on bbc perhaps?), it had different actors.

Comedies: The Letdown, No Activity (original, not the American remake) The Moodys

Drama: Wanted, Mystery Road / Goldstone

No idea if any of these are still available.

ProseccoLimoncello · 14/07/2020 22:14

I loved A Place to Call Home. It’s being repeated on the Drama channel I think
