Or just more wheelie bin challenges?

Grin Jane I saw that the other day and it made me laugh Grin

DH isn’t aware that he’s known as His Lordship - I sometimes worry that I’ll get drunk one day and tell him the whole story and he’ll look at me as if I’m mad Grin

In the parallel tennis universe I’m married to Hugh Bonneville Grin

Fizzywinegum · 08/08/2020 16:53

Also how has anyone managed to lose weight during lockdown? Shock

Raahh · 08/08/2020 16:57

Fizzy I wondered thatGrin

Grin that article made me laugh, saying he'd previously been eating too much food made by Mrs Patmore - like that was reality Grin

Too many alternative universes - or should I say multiverse.

I've definitely put on weight during lockdown - and at the same time also managed to become sick of all food/meal options Hmm but still eating too much! Arghhh! I need His Lordship's secrets!!

Fizzywinegum · 08/08/2020 18:33

He seems to have done something weird to his eyebrows Grin

Julie from Gogglebox (the Manchester family with the dogs) has also lost quite a bit of weight - I need to know their secret Hmm

Fizzywinegum · 08/08/2020 20:19

Battle of the Sexes film about the BJK and Bobby Riggs match is on C4 at 9pm tonight. I’ve seen it before and it’s quite good - Emma Stone plays BJK

PrivateSpidey · 08/08/2020 20:25

Ah thanks Fizzy.

I'm setting it to record - doubt I will get the TV to myself at 9! Grin

Raahh · 08/08/2020 20:37

Oh, thank you Fizzy- I have been meaning to watch that since it cam out, and never got around to it.

Obviously I will have to record it, given my lack of 'staying awake' stamina. Grin.

JaneJeffer · 09/08/2020 14:15

Thanks Fizzy I enjoyed that. The tennis was much more realistic than the Borg v McEnroe film. Marilyn Barnett is a great name for a hairdresser Grin

Raahh · 09/08/2020 16:05

Jane I only watched the first 20 minutes, before I realised i would not stay awake for all of it. Will watch later.

I didn't twig at 'barnett' Grin.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 09/08/2020 18:35

Barnett is definitely a good name for a hairdresser Grin

I enjoyed the BJK film more than the Borg/McEnroe film - I couldn’t be doing with Shia Laboef as Mac!

Raahh · 09/08/2020 20:18

When my sister was about 17, she went out with a trainee plumber, with the surname Faucet.

Ok, so it was most likely spelt Fawcett, but it still made me laugh at the time .Grin.

My Barnett is going to have its first cut since February at 9am. SO excited. SO hot - did not sleep well.

Fizzywinegum · 10/08/2020 10:18

Good luck with the barnet appointment magi

I’ve been for my swim - it was good and really well organised - I definitely need to work on my fitness levels though!

Raahh · 11/08/2020 11:07

I am in a bad mood. DD2 has toothache. We have known since February that she needs at least 2 fillings (medication has destroyed her teeth, just to add to her problems)- couldn't get an appointment til April. Then that was cancelled. A few days ago, she started to complain one of her teeth hurt, so yesterday I rang the dentist, gave all the details (that they already have).

Told a dentist would call me this morning at 9.30 to triage. (why? it's not my bloody tooth, and they have all the details, plus half a dozen letters from the dental hospital).

It's 11 o'clock. No phone call. I just want someone to look at her tooth and say it will be ok until treatment can be done. Or not. All this Covid stuff is getting farcical- she can go back to school in a month with other kids -in her (non distanced) class- with a teacher who doesn't need a mask. Because children are safe and all that. But a fully kitted out dentist won't see her unless we can prove it's an absolute emergency. Which it will be, when her tooth is that rotten it needs removing.

I'm cross. I got no sleep. And I'm too hot.

Sorry for the non tennis related rant Grin.

Raahh · 11/08/2020 11:16

Well, my rant worked Grin

I am taking her tomorrow to be looked at- can't get her in or treatment, but it's a start!

JaneJeffer · 11/08/2020 13:18

Poor DD. There's nothing worse than toothache. Hope they do something for her.

Raahh · 11/08/2020 14:50

Jane thank you . Me too. At least they will have a look. I have been so worried at how long it has been since she was last seen. Her teeth are a constant worry, and the knock on effect of everything having shut down, means once they pick up again- she will probably end up needing loads of time of school. Having had loads of time off. Hmm.

I need to stop worrying about things I can't do anything about!

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 11/08/2020 17:10

Hope that your DD gets sorted out tomorrow Raahh - it’s scary how so many things have been put on the back burner due to Covid.

It’s so hot here - I may have fallen asleep on the settee earlier - the window cleaner woke me up Blush

Fizzywinegum · 11/08/2020 17:14

I was also reading that Jo Konta had heart palpitations in her last match which sounds quite worrying.

Apparently now she’s in the US she’s going to drive to all of her tournaments to avoid getting on an aeroplane - some of the journeys will be hundreds of miles - not sure that’s the best way to prepare for a Grand Slam but I can understand it from a safety point of view.

Still no news from Djok?

magimedi · 11/08/2020 17:22

So hope things can get sorted for your DD, Raahh.

So hot here I've lain on my bed & had a nap after lunch the last two days.

I love good weather but am getting sick of this level of heat, with no respite at night.

Raahh · 11/08/2020 17:26

Didn't Murray do the cross US driving thing- for his carbon footprint? I'm not sure being cooped up in a car is a great idea, and heart palpitations don't sound good. What's the weather like over there- must be getting quite warm in parts- it's usually pretty hot around the time of the Open.

I'm beginning to think there are a few sports people who are not really that bright, and would rather risk health/injury in order to play, than miss out. And then there's good old sensible Nick Kyrgios. Grin.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 11/08/2020 17:37

Barbora has said she won't be travelling to the US. She doesn't want to put her team at risk.

I'm loving the hot weather although I had sweat running into my eyes when I was hoovering Grin

Raahh · 11/08/2020 17:44

I've just been reading that 10 out the top 20 mens players (including Thiem, Zverev and Berrettini) are down to play in Kitzbühel, Austria. Which starts on the 8th of September, I think (half way through the US Open).

So, either this means these players are showing intent that they aren't going to the US, or are hedging their bets, and trying to do both (if they lose early early enough, and quarnatine laws allow- they will make it to Austria?).

This is what the ATP site article says-

'To be eligible to compete in the 28-player Kitzbühel singles main draw, Top 10 players (as of 3 August 2020) must have competed and lost at the US Open — singles or doubles — by the start of the qualifying competition or by 7 September, whichever is earlier. All other players who are still playing at the Grand Slam championship will be withdrawn at this deadline. The doubles field will include 16 teams.'

Bit of a headache, again, for whoever is in charge.

Raahh · 11/08/2020 17:45

Jane another reason not to hoover.
