Or just more wheelie bin challenges?

If you can get on the red button Private the last match is just about to start and whoever wins it wins the whole thing.

JaneJeffer · 02/08/2020 19:28

Dan will have put on a stone by the time this finishes! I wonder who did the baking.

Fizzywinegum · 02/08/2020 19:37

They all seem to be munching - I wonder if Jo Konta did the baking (if she’s forgiven Andy!)

DS1 said that Dan Evans was wearing his mask round his chin so could eat pretzels Grin

Raahh · 02/08/2020 19:50

Private it just goes to show that Tiger Tim's Wimbledon's 'pandemic' insurance was a very shrewd move.

But hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I have finally got control of my tv back.

I have just got the red button/channel 991 (for viewers on VirginGrin) to work.

I like Joe Salisbury. I think he has been very overlooked the last year or so. He was the only Brit to qualify for London (in doubles). Seems not being a 'Murray' in the British media means no one is fussed.

Ok- so the whispering into their elbows/wrists is already annoying me Grin .No-one will hear you - if you just talk into your ears.

OP posts:
Raahh · 02/08/2020 19:58

They really should bring on the Wheelie Bin challenge.

And I need to do something about the tune that my new washing machine plays.

It goes on for ages.

It is like being at the medal ceremony at the Olympics for a small country no-one has ever heard of.

And it is really loud!

JaneJeffer · 02/08/2020 20:35

It would be good to have something like this again but I don't know where they would fit it in if the schedule returns to normal.

Joe doesn't like the heckling Grin

Raahh · 02/08/2020 20:40

Jane I agree- It's great that they have filled a gap - but I don't see that an event like this can fit in the calendar- without being a 'Laver Cup' type event, which much as I enjoyed it, it is an invitational thing between a few players. It's an exhibition between top player.

I can't see Jamie having Roger's budget!

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 02/08/2020 22:59

Well, I enjoyed that, even though I wanted the Union Jacks to win.
Can't believe the BBC took it off the red button before the presentation ceremony, especially as it was to put the snooker back on. The same snooker that was already on BBC2 Angry

Had to scrabble around to get the iplayer on the laptop again.
Liked Andy's speech, telling everyone to thank his brother for organising the event but adding it was a shame he had a shocker of a match to lose Grin
Even funnier was Liam Broady taking a life size cardboard cutout of Konta with him up to the presentation and then laughing when it fell over Grin
I don't think he thought much of her no show (again) and (apparent) complete lack of team camaraderie. Hmm

JaneJeffer · 02/08/2020 23:38

It came to a very abrupt end on the red button! I wonder how Jo will explain her absence.

Raahh · 03/08/2020 10:39

That's funny about the Jo cutoutGrin.

I wonder if she has fallen out with someone. Her lack of team spirit has certainly been noted!

I have just been out with the dog and am totally drenched. It was pointless washing my hair this morning Grin.

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 03/08/2020 16:11

According to the DM's Mike Dickson, this is Konta's reasoning Hmm
Considering she is obviously short of match practice and she lost the first match against a much lower ranked junior, you would have thought she'd welcome a couple more matches, even if it was just doubles? Also, I'm not sure she'll wear herself out sitting on the bench, supporting her teammates Hmm

JaneJeffer · 03/08/2020 16:35

If only she had a sofa to sit on she could nod off for a while like me.

Raahh · 03/08/2020 16:45

Hmmno, I'm not buying that excuse from Jo either. Not when she needs as much practice as she can get.

After getting drenched this morning, my walk this afternoon was hot.

Stupid weather.Grin

I am heading into town this morning, with the girls, on the train. It is like a military operation.
I feel like all spontaneity has gone out of the window, and even a simple trip to the shops has become a massive headache.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 04/08/2020 10:54

Good luck with the shopping trip Raahh - I know what you mean about military operation - having to make sure I’ve got mask, handgel etc before I can leave the house - nothing is spontaneous any more.

It’s raining here - I did some washing earlier as rain wasn’t forecast so my washing machine has been beeping at me - I wish it would play a nice tune Grin

I agree kazza - Jo Konta needs all the match practice she can get - they still seem to be convinced that the US Open will be going ahead Hmm

I’ve got to go into the office tomorrow for the first time in 5 months Shock. I’m not sure if any of my work clothes fit! I think I’ve forgotten how to behave in normal society!

Raahh · 04/08/2020 19:48

Good luck with going back to the office Fizzy !

I did not enjoy the trip. I felt uncomfortable and had a headache before I even left the house. Wearing the masks was not too bad, but it made me realise how difficult if must be for ds wearing one all day.

We got barely anything from the shops Grin.

I came home and went to bed.

Rafa:

Raahh · 04/08/2020 20:28
Sad

I expected it but, but still very Sad.

And I don't blame him. I wish USTA would do the decent thing and cancel.

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 04/08/2020 20:54

Oh no Sad I expected it too but it's so rubbish he won't get to defend his title. But fair enough as a decision.

So Madrid is cancelled but Rome is still supposed to be going ahead AFAIK?

Raahh · 04/08/2020 21:02

It is pants. I know rankings are the least important thing right now- but Rafa seems to be the player who is the most affected. Madrid was the only event he could gain points under the new rules- because is defending the US, Rome and RG. I'm assuming, if he is not playing the US, he is not playing Cincy/NY either?

OP posts:
Raahh · 04/08/2020 21:04

It annoys me that history will mark is as another title he did not defend. And the nay sayers like to bring that up. Even when it's something out of his control. Sad

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 04/08/2020 21:09

Yes definitely - naysayers gonna naysay Grin. It's so annoying as they are genuine reasons, not like he just couldn't be bothered or something!

Yes I presume he's not playing the Cincy tournament either even though I don't think he specified?

I saw a tweet saying that Stan was not in the entry list for NY, and Stan replied with a shrug emoji Grin very cryptic!!
