Or just more wheelie bin challenges?

That's the problem with masks. People touch their face way more than if they weren't wearing one.

Dan won.

JaneJeffer · 28/07/2020 19:42

The umpire is very casual "no sit down mate". It's a far cry from Mrs. Lloyd, etc. Grin

Fizzywinegum · 28/07/2020 20:23

I thought the umpire looked very young (but I think that about most people these days Grin)

kazzaD66 · 28/07/2020 20:45

Can't believe Andy lost that match by whacking a ball into his partner!

As I said earlier, the mask situation is ridiculous. They are being tested every day and are social distancing OUTSIDE and yet are wearing masks (on the whole) but are touching them all the time, moving them up and down. It's bloody ridiculous. Especially as no one wore a mask when they played indoors yesterday Confused

JaneJeffer · 29/07/2020 14:50

I've just tuned in to Evans v Norrie. It's very lively!

kazzaD66 · 29/07/2020 16:18

It was a good match Jane
Shame about the score, the Union Jacks need the points!
I like trying to hear what is being said at the changeovers. I also thought it was funny when Andy made his mum swap seats with him because he was getting too hot in the sun and she "had been hogging the shade", I think was the quote! He'll be asking her to put sun cream on him next Grin

Liam Broady is one of the biggest protagonists and never misses a chance to wind up Evans, in particular.

The match last night between Dan and Kyle was very bad tempered at the end. Kyle didn't tap his racket to Dan's at the net, more like smashed into it Hmm Needless to say, Dan wasn't very happy Grin

I like the way some of the more junior members of the teams have now morphed into ball boys and girls Grin

JaneJeffer · 29/07/2020 16:40

I'm surprised they leave the mic on so close to the players, especially Dan Grin

Naomi Brody is very good and well matched with Lloyd Glasspool. I am envious of her long legs.

PrivateSpidey · 29/07/2020 20:37

I saw the racquet tap controversy Grin What was all that about?!

I missed all of this afternoon. I was trying to watch the doubles but iPlayer kept freezing so I gave up.

I see the "Cincy" entry list is out. Rafa and Djok are on it as is Kyrgios. Amongst others (obviously I just mentioned our three favourites Grin) Well most players who would normally be there (by ranking I mean) seem to be on it. I guess unless anyone decides not to play, and that presumably wouldn't be until nearer the time.

Also I suppose there'll be no tour of the vase factory this year Sad

Raahh · 29/07/2020 20:47

Evening!

Yes, I've seen that the Cincy (though I think it is actually being played in NY, or did I dream that?) list is out.

I was surprised to see Rafa on it- I am still expecting everything to be scrapped, to be honest.

And no, there will be tour of factory Sad.

I'm sad that the Rogers Cup is postponed this year- was that the one one with dj, and the themed songs (or did we make our own list up? Grin).

I still don't see how players can play in the US- and then get to Europe. The fact Rafa is even on the list, baffles me.

Grigor was interviewed saying, a month or so on, he is still feeling the effects of Covid.

But I bet Djok is ok.

'favourites'

I am desperate for some proper tennis- but it is not going to be anything like normal for ages.

I do wonder how players - like Kyrgios, who rely heavily on the crowds- will be affected by playing with no supporter. No point doing an under arm serve , if there's no reaction?

No you wouldn't think so!!
Grin

Yes I was thinking of it as a sort of "provisional" list all being well, but even then the overlap (or almost overlap) of the dates with Madrid surely makes it impossible to do well in NYC and then play in Spain??

I know Halep decided not to play in Italy recently (not sure if an upcoming tour tournament or an exhibition, I think a "proper" tournament) and I think that's fair enough if players make those decisions. I suppose the tournaments just have to wait and see. But yes I agree, it's going to be weird for a while yet.

I saw Grigor's interview, he sounded like he'd had a tough time of it tbh.

JaneJeffer · 29/07/2020 21:22

He'll have to do what Dominic Inglot did today, cheer himself on!

PrivateSpidey · 30/07/2020 08:20

I see Ash Barty has pulled out of the US Open (and the Cincinnati event), she said she will make a decision on RG soon. It's going to be so weird isn't it, if the US Open does go ahead, and it sounds like it's going to - I wonder what the field of players will end up being like??

Raahh · 30/07/2020 09:34

Private I keep waiting for the organisers to say it's all off!

kazzaD66 · 30/07/2020 17:12

Enjoyed watching Andy and Glasspool beat Inglot and Gray.

Judy's secret weapon today is a Union Jack face mask for Dan Evans and, if all else fails, water bombs Grin

JaneJeffer · 30/07/2020 20:45

I put it on and then fell asleep! I haven't been feeling great the last few days with IBS and I feel very run down and having to force myself to get stuff done. The crappy weather isn't helping.

PrivateSpidey · 30/07/2020 21:45

Ugh sorry to hear that Jane. Hope you feel better soon.

I've been feeling quite flat/lacking in energy lately. I've been trying to force myself to go out for a walk early each morning (quite out of character for me - the early bit anyway Grin). I was hoping it would make me more energetic but it doesn't seem to be working Hmm

I haven't seen any tennis today either. My iPlayer doesn't seem to be working and I can't find it on the red button. Hopeless.

I see Kyrgios has pulled out of Cincinnati.

Raahh · 30/07/2020 22:01

My washing machine has died. Which is rubbish, as we are using is quite a bit, as ds's job means he needs clean uniform for every shift.

I am very fed up today- it feels like everything is going wrong. Just when I am not in a place to deal with it.

Not surprised Nick has pulled out. Since he is the Voice of Reason Grin. It's probably the most sensible thing he has done.

Ugh. And lockdown thingies are happening again in Greater Manchester. Just as my mum had finally organised my gran's 90th birthday party (which had been a big headache for months).

Dh gleefully announced this. he doesn't think the party should go ahead I told him that his football would be called off. (half his matches are in the Rochdale/Oldham/Bury area).

I'm feeling petty and pissed off.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 30/07/2020 22:26

I hope you get a new machine faster than I did Raahh!

Sorry everyone else has the blahs as well.

Raahh · 30/07/2020 22:31

Jane it's all just rubbish.

And I had a MASSIVE spot on my chin, that I picked . And now I have a really scabby, icky. shiny chin.

Not a problem, when covered with a mask Grin

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 30/07/2020 22:31

Oh that's annoying Raahh.

JaneJeffer · 30/07/2020 22:32

The party I meant but also the spotty chin Grin

Raahh · 30/07/2020 22:35
Grin

The chin is a bugger. I'm 48 ffs. I should not be picking spots.
