I have had quite a bit of the Aldi Fake Pimms this week, won't be as nice when it's rainingGrin.

I think that was the last time Mac played in the main singles draw. And Connors too, that year. Another 'transition' year.

So Mac was hypocrite- he is all over the shot clock, and took 4 minutes between ends in his match with Pat when he played? Hmm.

Bins!!

Sue is not happy that Tim is head of the wheelie bin challenge. Grin

Only seen bits of this because football has intervened Hmm

Managed to see the vase presentation though Grin. I bet the players were thinking wtf - I’ve just been playing tennis for 3 days and you’re giving me a vase!

Ooh Rafa is on tomorrow - should be fun!

Raahh · 01/07/2020 21:00
Hmm

It's a Nadal match tomorrow. That can't be good.

Grin

It is weird seeing ‘old’ and ‘new’ players playing each other

Raahh · 01/07/2020 21:02

Fizzy I think we are on second round matches, so I am going with 'Rafa loses to Dustin Brown'.

I want to be wrong. Grin.

Celebrity Masterchef!

I don't think Judy is on it yet.

Raahh · 01/07/2020 21:13

I fear I might be right. The Wimbledon site is featuring the Nadal/Brown match tomorrow.

FFS. They have already done the Darcis one.

Where is the Stakhovsky/Fed match?? That was a second round one.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 01/07/2020 21:26

Oh I got all excited because I thought they were going to interview Rafa Sad. At least Dustin Brown is nice to look at - he was another one that went on to lose easily in the next round.

Raahh · 01/07/2020 21:27

Yep - can always rely on them to lose next round!

OP posts:
Raahh · 01/07/2020 21:28

I would love them to interview Rafa, over zoom. He would get it all wrong. Grin.

Do they have wheelie bins in Mallorca?

OP posts:
Raahh · 01/07/2020 21:31

I hope they do interview Rafa though.
It would be amazing.

Sue probably won't be calling up Novak for chat. She had mentioned the Adria tour, and been very scathing, a few times this week.

Fizzywinegum · 01/07/2020 22:00

I think Rafa would nail the wheelie bin challenge Grin. I think the bins in Mallorca are quite wide so that would help him as well.

Everything’s gone a bit quiet on the Djokovic front - I think he’s probably keeping his head down for a while

Raahh · 01/07/2020 22:07

It has gone a bit too quiet. I expect our new favourite Wink Dick to dig up some dirt on him soon.

I mean, at the very least, he should have stepped down from the player council.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 01/07/2020 22:11

Hmm I don’t think he’ll resign from the player council unless he’s forced to and that would be quite a political thing with possibly fellow players voting against him? No wonder Rafa prefers to be on his jetski!

JaneJeffer · 01/07/2020 22:16

Maybe Dick should be head of the council Grin

Fizzywinegum · 01/07/2020 22:23

That would be funny Jane in his new role as the voice of reason - he’d probably fire everyone (especially Rafa!) Grin

JaneJeffer · 01/07/2020 22:24

Imagine how cross he'd get at meetings Grin

Raahh · 02/07/2020 10:40

So, continuing the theme of upsets in the early rounds- Wimbledon are featuring Peter Doohan when he beat Becker, and of course Dustin beating Rafa. Hmm.

But not the Stakhovsky match, oh no. Grin.

Grin @ Dick the Voice of Reason, sacking the Atp player council.
Grin.

Miserable and wet here, the dog is waiting for me to take him out. I am stalling. I am extremely bored.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 02/07/2020 11:22

It’s cold and rainy here as well Raahh - not very July like Hmm

Yes you would think that Roger had never lost a match at Wimbledon!

This afternoon on the BBC it’s Boris and Steffi - Boris will look very young (he was!) tomorrow it’s Lendl v Pat Cash so we can have a look at Lendl’s strange shorts Grin

I’m also listening to the Tennis Podcast Wimbledon Relived so getting a bit confused with all the different matches - they did Boris the other day!

PrivateSpidey · 02/07/2020 11:37

I just listened to that Fizzy - Kevin Curren sounds like such a lovely guy doesn't he, I was half wishing he'd won after I listened to it. Also he beat Connors, Mac and Edberg on the way to the final Shock - I knew he'd beaten Mac but I didn't know about the others. Pretty good going!

Yes why aren't the Beeb showing the Stakhovsky match? Fine example of serve and volley tennis right there!

I thought Sue sounded a bit apologetic yesterday about showing all the big names being beaten Grin she said not to worry, they'd be showing them at their best in the later rounds or something!

Raahh · 02/07/2020 12:02

I saw Kevin Curran in two finals at Didsbury - both to Edberg. (he lost Grin)- he was lovely . Though, in 87, iirc, it rained a lot. The tournament nearly didn't finish.

I saw him being filmed there, for the 'Mystery guest' spot on 'Question of Sport'.

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 02/07/2020 13:01

Ah that's brilliant - love it!!

JaneJeffer · 02/07/2020 13:35

"a sensitive, nervy kind of person" Grin

Raahh · 02/07/2020 13:41

And here we are, still in an era of short shorts Grin.
