New thread for season finale.

OP posts:
TDogsInHats · 10/08/2020 16:52

I thought it might've been the temp receptionist, her from Emmerdale.

Raahh · 10/08/2020 17:01

Tennis should have re-started this week in the US, in Washington. That tournament has been scrapped, due to travel issues.

But the 2 tournaments in New York, (including the US Open) are due to start from the 22nd- with a number of players choosing not to take part. I am really missing the tennis- but part of me still thinks everything should be stopped til January, at the earliest.

In May, there was a tournament that had no social distancing or anything in place (in Serbia). About half a dozen players became ill, including the world number 1 Djokovic (who is a bit bonkers, anti vax, has a 'guru' who gets him to hug trees). It was crackers.

Tanya was pretty forgettable Grin despite being in it a while. I've forgotten who thingy from Emmerdale was playing- but I quite liked her character.

TDogsInHats · 10/08/2020 17:36

Thanks Raahh. I always thought Djokovic was a bit strange but hadn't realised he's an anti vaxxer. I must admit how perplexed I am by the latest conspiracy theories being peddled. Hmm

Raahh · 10/08/2020 17:55

Oh Djok is very into conspiracies. His wife got in trouble for quoting all sorts of stuff about 5G on either instagram or twitter.

From about 18.30 minutes - on set.

Thingy from Emmerdale still there, I liked her. Daniel doing his own make-up. I'd forgotten about Tanya too.

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/08/2020 22:32

I'm going to be a traitor now. I'm not looking forward to the new series. Ruhma and Gobby will both continue to be really annoying.

I am enjoying The Heights Blush

EasilyDelighted · 17/08/2020 22:55

I still haven't seen The Heights, I've given up on daytime TV.

You never know with the annoying characters, I absolutely hated Val when she first joined but she has really grown on me. Gobby went the other way (blame that on the bumped head memory loss saga). Ruhma though, she could be a good character (I like the actress who plays her). And it's thanks to her that we have Shak. But instead she is played as the midwife with no professional boundaries.

Raahh · 18/08/2020 13:25

I'm enjoying 'The Heights' - during this time when I have forgotten what day it is, it has become the only 'routine' I have Grin.

I am looking forward to Doctors returning, but I wonder if it will do what Holby has done, and return for a bit, and then disappear again.

Raahh · 18/08/2020 13:28

Easily I hate what they have done to Gobby's character on Doctors. They have turned her from comedic to plain nasty at times. I don't know it is because Val is the 'comedy' turn now, but I don't like it. Even Rob has been turned into a far caring character than he was- they are not convincing at all as foster carers.

Raahh · 03/09/2020 14:56

Just bumping this.

The Heights got very sad today. I cried Blush.

Hope everyone is ok. It has been a very strange time- my dds are finally back in school tomorrow- a Friday!

ageingdisgracefully · 03/09/2020 16:26

How many episodes of The Heights will there be? Will it end abruptly when Doctors resumes?

(I've realised I don't really miss Doctors; it's more like a bad habit than anything else.).

Raahh · 03/09/2020 16:33

I think- and this is based only the fact I have seen other things advertised in the 1.45pm slot- tomorrow might be the last episode! Repeats of 'Land girls' seem to be coming back from next week, if I saw the the right adGrin. (I am often wrong!|).

Raahh · 03/09/2020 16:38

I have missed Doctors- but I know what you mean. The storylines have not been great recently. The Jimmi in prison one (although I suppose the way it actually was all connected to a previous storyline was quite clever) was too drawn out and dull. There are too many characters that I don't like.

Whereas, watching the Heights has been quite refreshing, as I got quite interested in all the characters.
I think there will be a few loose ends though- so I hope there will be a 3rd series.

ageingdisgracefully · 03/09/2020 18:23

I'm enjoying the Heights too. Today's episode was unexpectedly sad.

I think you may be right - I seem to recall seeing Land Girls being advertised.

Raahh · 03/09/2020 18:25

It was a bit of a shock, today's episode. It was well done though.

Raahh · 03/09/2020 18:26

I liked 'Land Girls' - but they have been repeated a few times now, I'm not sure I really need to watch them again. But I will- just as I watched 'Father Brown' all over again. Grin.

EasilyDeleted · 03/09/2020 18:29

I miss this thread more than I miss Doctors Blush but haven't started watching anything in its place.

Redshoeblueshoe · 04/09/2020 13:28

I was shocked by Ryan's death.
I don't know if I can cope with any more of Ruhma and Gobby.
They should do more Al & Val.
Anyone know when the surgery will reopen ?

Raahh · 04/09/2020 13:42

Red I'm not sure.

A number of other soaps seem to be re-starting next week.

I do hope it is soon- and agree, we need more Al (happy, best mates with Jimmi Al, not the miserable one they keep trying to foist on us).

The Heights has been really good, but I was not expecting the Ryan shock.

Raahh · 04/09/2020 13:48

It's a bit strange- the first series of the Heights started with a wake, and it looks like this will end with one.

MadisonAvenue · 04/09/2020 17:31

I’ve been bingeing Selling Sunset Shock

Just looked back and it was Aug 10th when Midlands Today did the feature about filming restarting so they’ve been back for almost 4 weeks. The BBC centre in the Mailbox has a big cast picture in the window for the 20th anniversary.

TDogsInHats · 04/09/2020 17:51

Hello all. Fuzzy was prescient with the Letherbridge has its own seasons.
I've seen somewhere that Doctors won't be back on our screens til November.
Seeing that they were filming during the August heatwave, it'll be truly wtfGrin

Raahh · 04/09/2020 17:59
Grin

Oh that's good. Doctors never disappoints with the out of sync weather, so that's as it should be .

About the only 'normal' thing to happen all year Grin.

TDogsInHats · 05/09/2020 08:56

Hello Raahh
I'm watching classic Corrie and it only struck me last night that the character who plays Judy Mallett's mum is the actress who played Vivian March in Doctors.
Wow what a talented actress, Anita Carey. I had no idea until I saw her name in the credits.

Raahh · 05/09/2020 09:07

Morning! TDog I think I must have been a more regular watcher when she was in it.

I really haven't watched Corrie much for about 20 years! Only in fits and starts, now I don't watch at all.
