New thread...

Will Yasmeen get her freedom or will she languish in the jail (where so many have before her!) by the end of this thread?

I really hope we don't have to go through the demise of Oliver. Life has been shit recently and we need light relief of tele, not misery.

Roussette · 09/07/2020 07:46

To be fair to Leanna (I'm not usually!) I think she acted quite well last night. I just hope she realises how horrible she is being, it's a start with Si.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 09/07/2020 08:48

@Kinneddar

I cant imagine that any scenes are new. Theyve only been back filming about a week or so.
I don't know for sure tbh, I'm only guessing judging by angles and distances between people and their hair and such.

In the scene with Leanne, Nick and Imran it looked like they were all unnaturally distanced, nicks hair was also totally grey.
When Leanne shouted at Toyah and broke the car, they were on either sides of the room and Leanne put the car down, Toyah picked it up off screen. Etc etc.

ajandjjmum · 09/07/2020 10:19

And when Leanne was obviously distraught, Nick didn't go and give her a hug!

Honeyroar · 09/07/2020 10:35

Yes I thought there have definitely been Covid scenes in the last couple of episodes. But they were quite cleverly done.

Dieu · 09/07/2020 11:18

Earlier in the thread, some of you were discussing real life Corrie actors. Over on AIBU, there have been several 'horrible celebrity' type threads over the years. Sean from Corrie always comes up on those! He is really not known to be very nice in real life!

Deadringer · 09/07/2020 12:00

Yes i noticed that with Nick and Leanne, under normal circumstances he would have given her a hug. And Evelyn was on her own in the house, deciding whether to ring, Arthur is it? Geoff was alone too, so presume they were both covid scenes. Roy was practically on top of Evelyn in the Rovers, so that one must have been pre covid.

eggandonion · 09/07/2020 12:42

I don't like covid Corrie, I want it to be old normal there.
I wonder would you expect a Corrie person to be the same in real life? So if someone seems awful or lovely in real life would you be projecting characteristics onto them?
That would be a great thesis topic.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 09/07/2020 13:36

Some people struggle with this I think. Back when EastEnders did a baby story, Sam Janus got death threats as I recall. Even recently, a voice actress from a video game has had death threats because people didn't like what her character did.

But I think some actors in soaps are basically just them reading writers lines and going home. In interviews they're very similar in manerisms and voice and stuff. Then some are totally different in interviews. The 'dumb' Dingle in Emmerdale is very articulate and different in interviews for example.

Redglitter · 09/07/2020 13:42

And Evelyn was on her own in the house, deciding whether to ring, Arthur

I think that was just a coincidence. None of the older actors are returning at the moment. She was probably alone because she'd never have phoned if everyone else had been home

PennyRoyal · 09/07/2020 14:53

None of the older actors are back at work. Maureen Lipman (Evelyn) has been quite vocal in the press about "not forgetting the oldies" on screen.

Writers are looking at creative ways of keeping them in, video calls to family, Zoom quizzes etc. I think Covid may be mentioned to explain their 'absence' but hopefully won't become a major part of any storylines.

I don't know so much - when the episode gets boring, guessing when it was filmed is quite a distraction! Grin

Years ago there was another soap - Crossroads - which was filmed in Birmingham. One of the actors (Sandy Richardson for those as old as me!) was in a wheelchair in the drama, but not in real life. He was standing at a counter in Rackhams, Birmingham, when a woman knelt on the floor and started feeling his legs to see if they were real!

desperatehousewife21 · 09/07/2020 16:19

Also think Nick suits grey hair!

Re weird sound- Evelyn whisking that egg was louder than her and Roy talking!

PoloNeckKnickers · 09/07/2020 16:41

ajandjjmum I remember seeing the Sandy actor being interviewed on Mudlands Today. He was hilarious! My mom also met the actree who played his sister Jill and apparently she was very sweet. I used to have a crush on David Hunter Confused

ajandjjmum · 09/07/2020 16:50

Jill was a minor celebrity in the Midlands for years after the programme stopped - I think she was married to a property developer.

David Hunter was a rather lovely older man at the time - and Noele Gordon - my friend worked for her for a while. It was a great series while it lasted!

EachandEveryone · 09/07/2020 17:47

Maureen is quite posh in real life and has beautiful posture. She easily slips back into her Hull accent thpugh😃

RedRec · 09/07/2020 18:15

Bit behind the curve here but just watched last night's Corrie. Evelyn struggling to say the word 'apologise' was hilarious. Hated her character at first but now she brings much hilarity and I love her.

Deadringer · 09/07/2020 19:29

Oh i didn't know the older actors weren't back. Set your phasers to snooze people, if its just going to be the young 'uns.

eggandonion · 09/07/2020 20:53

They should have kept the retirement village and locked the older actors there.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 09/07/2020 21:04

My mom also met the actress who played his sister Jill and apparently she was very sweet.

Funny - my parents also met her and said she was a right old lush Grin She was at a party saying ‘Who do you have to fuck to get a drink around here?’ very loudly!

Roussette · 10/07/2020 07:45

ajandjjmum
Crossroads was a classic! Sometimes the walls which weren't walls but plyboard, started wobbling. And then there was Benny with the woolly hat!

Dieu · 10/07/2020 09:59

Definitely wouldn't expect Corrie characters to be the same in real life. It was a bit of gossip and nothing more Grin
I can't take to Evelyn. In reality, I'm not sure Arthur would bother. She's a total battleaxe, and speaks to people appallingly!
I agree about the weird sounds. The swishing of Evelyn's clothes was something else!

Dieu · 10/07/2020 10:00

Blanche on the other hand was magnificent! Grin
