New thread...

Will Yasmeen get her freedom or will she languish in the jail (where so many have before her!) by the end of this thread?

I think dull elina dearly loves Emma! I had never noticed Emma and Oliver having a special bond.

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 30/06/2020 00:59

I reckon they have shoe horned in the fostering storyline so we have a constant stream of moody teenagers, there are enough of them already scriptwriters. Shona’s awful acting makes me cringe, where has that manic laugh come from?

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/06/2020 01:07

The fostering thing is just weird.
It doesn't make any sense.Confused

PoloNeckKnickers · 30/06/2020 05:22

Would a foster child be placed in the care of a couple who flatshare with another couple? Confused
I thought Steve was very good in this episode.

Roussette · 30/06/2020 08:09

Leanne was awful. Treating NHS staff like dirt, shouting at everyone, being sarcastic and nasty. I know they are trying to show what it's like to receive news like this but it was totally OTT.

I didn't know Toyah and Imran were even considering fostering, where did that pop up from. If she goes ahead with the meeting, Toyah will probably murder her.

YouDirtyMare · 30/06/2020 08:09

They are ramming too many story lines in and racing through them . The characters have no depth.
Years ago you'd be on the edge of your seat waiting for the next episode, they should make the most of only having 3 episodes a week

Clawdy · 30/06/2020 08:27

To be fair, they didn't know it would become three episodes a week, all this was filmed before lock down, and would have been six a week as usual. But I agree there are far too many confusing stories going on. It's sad that Leanne is being so annoying when we should be desperately sorry for her. The best bit last night was Tyrone doing the Jack Duckworth "pigeons" line!

StillCoughingandLaughing · 30/06/2020 09:44

Why does nobody in soap own summer clothes - or any seasonal clothes other than a big winter coat? I know it’s filmed in advance so they can’t predict the exact weather, but it’s not like a hot June is an unprecedented event. In real life most people dress for summer unless it’s a particularly wet day. In soapland, they’re all in long sleeves or even hoodies - the same ones they wear in October - while the real world is in vests and shorts.

PennyRoyal · 30/06/2020 10:07

As soon as the scene with Tyrone opened, I said to DP "reminds me of Jack". And then they referred to him & Fizz being like Jack and Vera!

The fostering story is most odd. I think it's been slotted in so Toyah and Leanne fall out and Leanne has no support when/if Oliver dies. I don't think they will be foster parents and in the end Toyah will have to accept she's not having children (until she has a one nigh stand with someone (Steve super sperm) and miraculously falls pregnant!).
Anyway, doesn't Billy hold the current fostering cap & badge?

Seems as if Ryan lives with Aliya in the flat share so the number of bedrooms there has increased. What about the Victoria court flat? Craig mentioned he could move back home - not seen Beth for a while. Dancing on Ice was January so she still can't be on a rink somewhere surely!

Honeyroar · 30/06/2020 10:56

Surely the social workers would not be telling a couple that want to foster that they’re perfect when they live in a pokey flat with other people and no spare bedroom, he never bothers to see his own children and she tried to steal her friend’s baby etc etc?

I’m laughing that Emma still had the vase stuck on her hand (presuming that should’ve been an 8.30 episode and it’s all meant to be the same day).

I wish we could get appointments with specialists at our local hospital so quickly!

Honeyroar · 30/06/2020 10:57

It would work if Toyah and Imran got a house then Seb could move in with Craig.

Roussette · 30/06/2020 11:08

Yikes, just re-read what I put! I meant presumably Leanne... not Toyah

Haha... that's three days she had that vase stuck on her hand! I presume she showered with it, slept with it etc Grin

Smallsteps88 · 30/06/2020 11:33

Someone needs to tell toyah there are fabrics other than floral polyester. She looks drab as fuck.

Smallsteps88 · 30/06/2020 11:35

Does toyah work? Imran has a pretty full on job. They’d need toyah to be at home FT to be able to foster wouldn’t they?

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 30/06/2020 11:36

I love the idea that Emma spent an entire weekend with her hand stuck in a vase Grin

Honeyroar · 30/06/2020 11:42

I joked that they should leave the vase on her hand Phoenix Nights Style last week, it was just funny that the way they split episodes meant that she had had the vase on for a few days.🤣

No I don’t think Toyah does work at the moment, does she?

Smallsteps88 · 30/06/2020 11:49

I know she was applying for a job but Nina? Talked her out of it as the company had a bad reputation. Not sure if she has found anything since then. Is that why she’s decided to foster?? Because she’s no job? I suppose everyone needs a hobby Confused

Iwantacampervan · 30/06/2020 12:20

I haven't watched much lately but have noticed, and liked, the references to Jack & Vera as well as the discussion about Betty marrying Billy Williams. The story lines are very odd and I don't think that can be blamed on stretching the episodes out.

Smallsteps88 · 30/06/2020 12:29

They’re referencing the current storylines in the classic Corrie episodes as they know lots of viewers are watching that as well.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 30/06/2020 12:49

I wonder if there were some half-finished episodes and we’re now getting filler material filmed more recently. Fiz and Tyrone seemed to be unnaturally far apart when they were talking about turning into Jack and Vera, no one else from the household was present, and it’s the sort of material that could easily be cut if necessary.

desperatehousewife21 · 30/06/2020 13:19

So the news they got about Oliver, it’s a life long disease but does it mean he’ll die prematurely? Is that what Steve meant when he said ‘weeks? Months?’

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 30/06/2020 13:44

Its life limiting not life long (although it's also life long)
So yes afaik that means he's on borrowed time. :(

desperatehousewife21 · 30/06/2020 13:57

Oh I see Sad thanks for explaining.

Anyone watch the road to coronation street the other night? Drama based on the life of Tony Warren how he got Corrie to the screen. I wasn’t actually expecting it to be a drama, thought it was going to be a documentary!

Honeyroar · 30/06/2020 13:59

No. I meant to but forgot. Was it worth watching?

desperatehousewife21 · 30/06/2020 14:28

I liked it. I know it’s a drama and not a docu but it is interesting to see how it all came together and like to think they kept it true to life.
