Hopefully not before the end of this thread! Sad

How the hell dont Geoff’s neighbours heat some of his ranting through the wall? Aren’t they sandwiched between Gail and Sally?
And poor Yasmeen looks like a shadow of her former self, surely one of her friends would have noticed. Bless her at least the story seems as though it’s about to get resolved soon. It was weird when they were referring to Easter tonight.

CoolCarrie · 27/04/2020 22:39

Good acting from Yasmeen, Geoff and Asha tonight. I remember the actress who plays Yasmeen saying that she and the actor who plays Geoff are good friends and they trust each other.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 27/04/2020 22:40

Her friends haven’t noticed because she never sees them any more. He’s completely isolated her. Although Cathy did say the other night that Yasmeen has changed and not for the better. Also Geoff’s “cover story” that she is an alcoholic probably has them believing that is why she looks so awful and is behaving differently. And in normal life people wouldn’t come straight out with “you aren’t yourself” if they believed it was due to alcohol abuse. People would tiptoe around it. Unless its my mum who has no back doors in her Grin

If Ken does not pay for the new boiler (as it's his house still) then he needs to leave. This is the leverage/deal breaker to get him out IMO. Oh, it was nice to see Peter smile for the first time in years (brother and sister banter between him and Tracey.)

Are Gary and Maria still together ? I hope she had the good sense to ditch him.

Dev has been rehabilitated. Smart hair cut, fashionable (for his age) clothes and he's speaking properly for the first time in years.

I remember how nice he was.

Where's Mary ? Where's Rita ?

Did Emily get a pay off when Norris sold her old house because he owned it ? (Life interest, how did they get around that ?)

Haven't seen much of Roy in the café lately, either.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 27/04/2020 23:04

Did we find out how Johnny knows the lodger he’s running away to France to get away from?

ID040171 · 27/04/2020 23:15

When I was a kid I had a weirdly astute moment when I noticed that the Spiderman cartoon my brother was watching had reused a monster and scenario from a Tarzan cartoon a few years older.

Would anyone notice if they spliced Emmerdale Farm inside Corrie credits and CGI'd a couple of faces?

Re-dub Brookside with Cockernee bantz and you've got a decade's worth of fresh Eastender misery.

This will all work out fine, see?

I really enjoyed tonight's episode, it didn't feel like filler for the first time in a while.

I cannot stand the Geoff character, although I think it's clever how they've filmed the storyline. I really feel for Yasmeen.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 27/04/2020 23:43

I’m liking the Asha storyline too. Although the other night one of the girls, maybe Amy or Asha, said something like “it’s happened to loads of girls” and none of the adults picked up on that profound statement. No-one thought “woah! What? This is a thing boys are doing to girls? This needs addressed beyond what is happening to Asha” it was just completely ignored as if it’s perfectly normal. If Evelyn or Rita had been mugged walking home from bingo and one of them said “it happens to loads of elderly people” dev or whoever would have said “well that’s insane- we need to do something” if Alf Roberts we’re still alive they’ve get him to speak to his council buddies about extra policing. I know dev has gone to the police about Asha specifically, and it’s good they are raising awareness about this horrible abuse but I think they should actually address the fact it’s not just a bad situation Asha got into but rather a whole big thing that boys and men are doing to girls and other boys.

Roussette · 28/04/2020 07:55

Agree Asha is a fantastic young actress, she'll go far Grin

I found it touching with her upstairs, head in hands, and the same with Dev downstairs.

As for Geoff and Yasmeen. I do think it's slowly dawning on her that Geoff is lying and knowing that her ex's partner has never had an STI has made her really think. She has been a brilliant actress. But why she can't put two and two together more... escorts/prostitutes/STI.... I don't know.

I thought she was going to hear Geoff on the phone to the escort agency, that would've sealed it.

FeltCarrot · 28/04/2020 08:28

Where is Emily these days? She came back from Peru to look after Freda in Scotland but more Freda and Norris are living at Stagnant Waters?

WaterIsWide · 28/04/2020 08:48

I love, 'Goth Girl's apron. It looks frilly and old fashioned until you look a little closer and see the skull pattern. (Sewing Bee should make an apron like that.)

You don't really see anyone cooking the food to be served in the café.

Carla just appears behind the counter at the café pretty much at will. What's that about ? She really should have her hair tied back if she's cooking or serving food.

I really do not like the new factory either, or the office. Stephen and who ever else is running it this week look like they are sitting in the hall.

Thesearmsofmine · 28/04/2020 09:36

What is Carla’s job these days? How does she make money?

Geoff turns my stomach, it’s making me nervous that he is becoming more obviously horrible, I can’t help but think what is he going to do next?

I think the Asha storyline is good and it’s nice to see Dev a bit more, he can be a bit irritating. I would have liked to see Mary involved as she is has been so close to them and she was brilliant with Bethany when she was with Nathan.

eddiemairswife · 28/04/2020 09:44

I'd forgotten all about Emily going to Freda's, and it looks as if the writers and producers have forgotten her too.

scaryreading · 28/04/2020 10:57

Do you think Geoff May end up another Trevor Jordache situation.?

Hopefully Tim and Sally May step up or Faye. Does she never see her grandfather?

Honeyroar · 28/04/2020 11:06

I’d really hoped that Yasmeen had overheard the phone call too.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 28/04/2020 11:21

But why she can't put two and two together more... escorts/prostitutes/STI.... I don't know.

I think she has worked it out but can’t say it outwardly. She’s terrified of him. He won’t take a confrontation like that well.

eggandonion · 28/04/2020 11:24

He's robbed her of her 'self' hasn't he. He's horrible.
Trevor Jordache was the stuff of nightmares too.

Spam88 · 28/04/2020 12:31

I was hoping when she made that phone call that she was calling the police for help. God knows what he's going to do now she's basically come out and accused him of cheating.

Optimist1 · 28/04/2020 12:37

She's showing some signs of strength - to have phoned Sharif's ex, to have told Geoff that she's done that. Hopefully she'll build on that ...

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 28/04/2020 12:42

When she made the call and then he came back abusing her I expected Cathy to be sitting upstairs listening to it. I thought Yasmeen had called her to come and witness it so she had the confirmation she needed that he was abusive. And also someone there to protect her if he kicked off.

She should call Ryan. He already knows the story. He’d definitely believe her. Also has Aliyah come back from the wedding yet? That was only supposed to be a couple of days in Spain.

Roussette · 28/04/2020 13:00

Yes, she is terrified him... the way she jumps when he comes in the door, or she flinches when he makes a sudden movement.

Yasmeen is playing the part really well.

Does anyone listen to the Archers. It reminds me of Rob & Helen... that was just a scary abuse storyling, similar in that Rob gaslighted Helen like Geoff is doing, and the abuse was creeping and insidious... made all the worse by being a radio show, and having no visuals made my imagination run riot.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 28/04/2020 13:07

What is Carla’s job these days? How does she make money

Also what is Peter’s job? Is he a cabbie? Suppose they live rent free with Roy/Tracey and now in the pub so don’t need much cash!

WaterIsWide · 28/04/2020 13:17

I'm guessing they will be paid for standing in at the pub ?

SymphonyofShadows · 28/04/2020 13:26

I watched it for the first time in weeks last night. I was really shocked at how the Geoff and Yasmin storyline had escalated, with him telling her she stinks etc. It does seem to be getting towards a conclusion though
