Okay, yer man with his monologue is just dreadful.
I thought Kev was good in representing "typical bloke down the pub".

Aggie? Ange? Is also awful, just awful.
Good message wish someone else could have done it.

Spam88 · 22/05/2020 22:44

The racism storyline was a bit rushed wasn't it Confused even with lockdown scheduling. The editing of the episode had the feel of a big episode, but u was very confused because I guess the big thing was supposed to be the racism monologue, but it had had no build up at all.

Housewife2010 · 22/05/2020 23:13

I resented so much of the episode being taken up by a family I have no interest in.

Clawdy · 22/05/2020 23:23

I actually thought the monologue was pretty good for that actor, not keen on his booming voice usually, but I thought he did well tonight.

Cheeeeislifenow · 22/05/2020 23:38

Also the bistro looks the same, hope the refurb didn't cost that much!

sweetkitty · 22/05/2020 23:46

Totally agree with everyone else bring back Geoff and Yasmeen couldn’t care less about racism family every time eldest son opens his mouth it’s like nails down a blackboard. Their acting is rubbish and I don’t really care for the characters.

I can’t get involved in the baby Oliver storyline as Leanne is my most hated character, she has no nice qualities whatsoever, she doesn’t smile at all she does is screech at Steve and Nick.

Roussette · 23/05/2020 07:28

Also the bistro looks the same, hope the refurb didn't cost that much!

I'll have you know it costs a lot to walk round with a screwdriver and some panelling whilst your son makes pretend noises with a hammer on the floor Grin

WobblingMyWigglyBits · 23/05/2020 08:02

Last night's corrie was the worst episode I have ever seen. The script was just awful
Who the bloody hell wrote that ?
It was like the actors were embarrassed to say their lines

Rhinosaurus · 23/05/2020 08:12

It was so bad I wondered if it was cobbled together from outtakes to make up an extra episode. And it hasn’t gone unnoticed that Aggie has gone from being the rubbish cook at Roy’s to suddenly being everywhere in paediatric A&E and on the wards as super omnipresent nurse. Also Oliver was ventilated on the good old Corrie ventilator that comes out every time one of them is in hospital, but apparently he seemed to be conscious as well!!

As for the sick child, it’s not that long since we had Jack in hospital with meningitis.

The ridiculous Chesney and Gemma storyline - as she sits gormless with her mouth hanging open, or eating with her mouth wide open and food going around like a washing machine. How are they going to extricate themselves from the quads storyline I wonder? I just hope it’s soon.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 23/05/2020 08:22

*How are they going to extricate themselves from the quads storyline I wonder?

My guess is that they'll just stop being on screen, always upstairs. Then they'll stop being mentioned regularly, just a once a month reference. Then they'll cease to exist and vanish like all The Children of Corrie... That is, of course, until Gemma actress quits the show and takes them all to Birmingham in a cab. 👍

Roussette · 23/05/2020 09:39

Corrie has a bermuda triangle for children.

Yes hang on... have just realised from Rhino's post that Aggie cooks in Roy's, but she is a nurse too? Forgotten that!

PorpentiaScamander · 23/05/2020 10:03

Last nights episode was so odd. Like they tried to cram an entire storyline into 1 episode with a random 2 min section about Oliver. I can only assume it's some kind of lockdown editing thats leading to the oddness.

And we say "if you pay peanuts you get monkeys" all the time in our family. Never really considered that its racist Blush

Cheeeeislifenow · 23/05/2020 10:51

@ monkey,

You have just reminded me of fizz roaring up the stairs, "girl's, brush them teeth right now"

Shudder.

Clawdy · 23/05/2020 11:02

The peanuts and monkeys phrase may not be racist, but it certainly is when said about a group of black workmen.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 23/05/2020 11:57

The speech older son did to his baby in the pushchair was so cringeworthy! And the baby’s mum standing there listening to it, apparently getting all agitated and upset to the point that she then had to kiss her ex who she’s has been nothing but spiteful too every time we’ve seen her. Confused it was a very weird, and poorly acted scene.

Honeyroar · 23/05/2020 11:58

It isn’t a racist comment generally but it was meant to be racist on that episode though, along with all the other comments he made.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 23/05/2020 12:25

It was a very strange episode. Agree it seemed like it was a few episodes crammed into one with very bad acting by the main characters. The family just haven't been around enough to care about them and the dad getting bothered about racism but is perfectly happy to be a homophobe himself really grated on me. I wanted his son to scream at him to look in the mirror!

eggandonion · 23/05/2020 12:40

I think we are lucky it's still on, in a way, but it was odd. I loved the arty edit from working clothes to glad rags, I'm sure someone is delighted by their skill in that! maybe elder son and baby's mammy could move in together and live happily ever after in a city far away with no transport links?
Is nasty bistro owner going to sack racist manager, will nice gay manager return? I thought Dev was also good, he's going to be a wise elderly man soon.

PorpentiaScamander · 23/05/2020 12:48

Yes I can see how it would be racist when said to a black person.

Oh the speech to the baby was so cringe!

Queenoftheashes · 23/05/2020 12:53

Omg I came here to see if anyone else thought that racism episode was awful. As if Corrie is spewing out this horrendous contrived crap all superior as it finally got a black family in. And the speeches! My god! They’re not meant to be drama students wtf. That American who took over has a lot to answer for.

Rhinosaurus · 23/05/2020 13:22

@Rousette

I think Aggie was a nurse previously, there have been allusions that she left because of some unknown incident (which undoubtedly will be regurgitated soon) then she decided she wanted to leave Roy’s Rolls and go back to nursing, applied for a job and here we are - in a matter of days back to work as a nurse, no return to practice studying, no induction or period of supervision considering she hasn’t nursed for years, and then she’s in paediatric A&E when Oliver was admitted and then all of a sudden she’s working on paediatric ITU/HDU - she must be very talented!

PoloNeckKnickers · 23/05/2020 14:21

Didn't Aggie show her true nursing credentials and expertise when Robert was lying on the floor, having been shot and she prodded him a bit and said some soothing words? I liked the arty farty directing. Why is Nick always wearing that heavy black overcoat? Surely he'd just put on an anorak for brooding jealously in hospital car parks.

woodhill · 23/05/2020 14:29

Nick - Like Mike Baldwin - business tycoon look😊

Rhinosaurus · 23/05/2020 15:02

@woodhill

Surely business tycoon look is camel coat - not black?! Grin

Roussette · 23/05/2020 15:11

Rhino you're making me laugh!

Yep! If only it were that easy to return to nursing, she managed it in half a day flat!
And isn't it lucky she just happened to be the nurse on duty in the right ward at the right time at the right hospital when Oliver was admitted!
