We have been discussing Our Girl from the first series back in 2014 and are now on thread 55!

I cannot believe I have just uttered the words 'finger buffet'. Am I turning into Judy from OG2? I laughed as I said it but fortinately the person I was speaking to didn't understand the significance!

Decisions, decisions...

eejittwo · 21/05/2020 13:27

What are you doing even thinking of finger buffets during lockdown?

Ilovelblue · 21/05/2020 16:51

Ah that's eady eejit. I'd practised a new recipe and said how nice it would be to serve to friends (after lockdown of course) as part of a finger buffet. I then had visions of Judy and her cardigan in OG2 and started to laugh!

Hi. Everyone just thought I'd pop on here to say I am looking forward to following along when you start your watchalongs OG series 1 and 2.

I have been watching all sorts of older series of various things mainly on BBC I player. Great selection. Now much like with Soldier Soldier have been spotting actors in varying roles and thinking where have I seen him/her before. At the moment it is Silent Witness and lo and behold along comes an episode with an actor as a detective and I kept thinking oh for goodness sake where have I seen him before and after a while it clicked. It was Molly's Dad from series 1. Then couldn't believe my eyes when into the next series of Silent Witness (there are lots!) and sure enough another detective I knew from somewhere this time it was Georgie's Dad. I am so glad my recall was good enough to remember before starting to watch OG again at least.

I did laugh about your finger buffet moment iLove. OG certainly leaves its mark on we devotees as all sorts of sayings and phrases remind us.

Ilovelblue · 23/05/2020 23:56

I think you have plenty of choice on older tv series at the moment magi!!

Have we made our decision on which series to watch next of Our Girl? I initially said 1 then 2 but I wonder if it might be a good idea to do series 2 first because we could see Georgie's first encounters with Two Section and see how she has changed through the episodes to what we saw at the end of series 4.

Really not bothered though as they are both great series.

I think series 2, but then I am biased!😬

eejittwo · 26/05/2020 10:37

So what are we doing tonight? If we are doing Series 2, we’ll need to do the ten minute prequel too.

Ilovelblue · 26/05/2020 12:46

I'm happy with that and was going to ask if we're in agreement too. Rhu are you with us?

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 26/05/2020 13:08

Yes, ok with me plus the prequel. Ooh looking forward to an Elvis AND CJ fest Grin

Ilovelblue · 26/05/2020 13:32

I'd never heard of LP prior to OG2 and when I first watched that prequel, he sparked my interest from the very beginning!

9pm it is ladies. Bye for now.

OP posts:
eejittwo · 26/05/2020 13:59

ilove, have you caught up with him in Musketeers yet? He’s gorgeous in leather as D’Artagnan.😬

eejittwo · 26/05/2020 18:40

So we start with the prequel at 9pm and then move on to ep1?

Ilovelblue · 26/05/2020 18:55

Yep suits me

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 26/05/2020 19:32

I shall queue up the prequel for 9pm. Then we will need a minute or two to reset for the start of series 1.

I quite like the different title sequence to this series. It's funny how they changed it yet again for the next parts (Nepal etc) and again for the latest series. They really didn't seem to know what to do with it. It's quite a strange thing to change the theme tunes so many times.

Once we're done with the watchalong today, I'm going to catch up with 'A House through Time'. It's localish to me and was featured on our local news earlier. I watched the last one in Newcastle and it was really good. If you like a bit of social history, then I recommend it. From what I remember of the last series, it certainly made you grateful for the lives we lead now.

Rhubarb01 · 26/05/2020 19:32

I meant series 2 doh!!

Rhubarb01 · 26/05/2020 19:34

Oh Rhu - get it straight! What I meant was there have been three different theme tunes in total (Molly's - Georgie's series 2 & Georgie's for all the later ones) - that's still strange though.

Ilovelblue · 26/05/2020 20:59

I'm ready and waiting.

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 26/05/2020 21:00

Well, here I am ready to start with the prequel....

Rhubarb01 · 26/05/2020 21:00

Here we are on a mission. This looks tense....

Ilovelblue · 26/05/2020 21:01

Yep, just pressed play.

Well, let it be said I would never have turned Elvis down!

Mind you, despite her reservations, Georgie didn't turn him down for too long.

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 26/05/2020 21:02

Georgie is on her way home. Elvis is trying his charms out on Georgie.

Elvis is already taken it appears. Now poor Debs is about to get chucked by text.

Ilovelblue · 26/05/2020 21:02

Pretty sh*tty trick to try and get Georgie to press send when Elvis dumped Debbie.

Not sure his ego could take being turned down.

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 26/05/2020 21:03

I've been in one of those 4 seater planes. A very strange experience.

What a massive extended family Elvis has.

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 26/05/2020 21:03

So, Elvis is free now. Georgie says she won't settle down ever...prophetic words.

However, 4 weeks later. A whirlwind romance. He's taking her on a flight to meet his Italian family. How come he doesn't have an Italian surname?
