Sorry OP, I couldn't sleep and was in a foul mood. I haven't seen it for a while and got a fair few episodes backed up to watch, so it's the idiosyncratic way we watch telly these days, not your fault. But when I saw no spoilers I thought oh fab an eastenders thread to read and then after the first few lines panicked 😄 Like you I hate knowing what's coming, can never understand why people would want to. In the shops I deliberately look away from the TV mag covers! 😂 Anyway, apologies again, hope I didn't offend you 💐

That last episode was bloody bonkers, I felt like I was on mood-altering drugs watching it and trying to care make sense of it.

Whitney really is thick

Not only she doesn’t throw something against the window to smash it and call for help whole left alone in the room

She also doesn’t use her Burner phone. So she forgot she had it but it was still charged and rang

I'm glad it's not just me. I'm finding it almost a chore to keep up with some of the storylines. No idea what any of the Panesars are called and can only recall one bit of information about each of them. Most of them. The not-turban, not-plump one, I can't think of anything memorable about him. The mother is a nasty piece of work, right enough, but we don't know or care why.
Thickney I would happily throttle myself if it brought her persecution to a close. I dunno. I might be lockdowned out.

They're trying to do the Hollyoaks thing of having one massively dramatic event after another, often all at the same time.
It's really not working.

Do we know when it will stop being shown? Can't be many more episodes left?

I haven't seen this weeks (might get hold of the TV once DH finishes his Binge Watching )

Has there been any more news about the Panesaar Dad? There were a few references to him. I'm guessing he isn't being missed by them Grin

I can sort of imagine Philth running the Funeral Parlour , but not sure about Stuart behind the bar of The Vic.

I really want Sharon'n'Phil at The Queen Vic but maybe there are too many memories for her there ?

How did Grey know where Whitney was? I’ve been busy mumsnetting and not paying attention properly Blush

He had an address for michaela from when she was previously arrested for harassing Whitney (said last episode). Is jean not taking her meds now? Will this be the return of Stacey I wonder?

That was a really strange episode. It had the claustrophobic feel of the classic EastEnders 2-hander, but with four of them instead of I've - Phil and Linda, Whitney and Leo's mum, Chantelle and Kheerat, and Sheree and Isaac. It was really strange, there was even a mini one with Peter and Jay.
So many secrets either revealed or about to be.

Something about the way Denise said "Have the BEST time," to Patrick and Sheree made me feel that Patrick's not coming back alive, leaving Isaac with the angst of never getting to know him as his dad.

It was just an odd episode. And then there was the hint at Jean getting into again, with her calling Whit Stacey.

Agree @Chienloup - the tinkly piano in the background at odd points was weird too

I liked the tinkly piano Blush I was hoping Chantelle was going to confess to keerat (?) about Grey

Probably barking up the wrong tree , but it felt to me that it was almost a corona virus filmed episode . Only 2 people at a time , not that close to each other , quite budget filming, and also got rid of the eldest cast member by sending him off to the sunset .

Is Whit really so thick/damaged that she is mooning over Gray, who 'rescued' her? The ongoing portrayal of her as a helpless victim by the writers is relentless and misogynistic. Sadistic even.

I thought that about it looking like it was filmed with social distancing. I like the episodes they do with just a couple of characters.

I think if lock-down goes on much longer it might be the end of EastEnders. Having the only 2 episodes on Mon and Tues, instead of spread out more, means I've forgotten what's happened. The Bobby cliff-hanger was lost on me. I certainly wasn't tuning in to find out what happened.

I like two-handers, but not 5? 6? in the same episode. They never get the chance to say more than half a dozen lines before the camera switches to another couple having a deep conversation and then another...

It looks as if the scriptwriters are trying to write another Peaky Blinders, with random music and fancy camera angles. As if writing for a soap is beneath them.

Report
SoupDragon · 05/05/2020 16:39

I liked the idea that all those conversations were happening at once.

I really enjoyed Mondays episode. First one in ages but I really can't bear most of the teens/young adults (Dotty Peter Lola Bobby Tiff Keegan Witless) Liked new head Bobby at first but not now and Keegan was becoming OK but irritates me now!
Loved Phil and L
