I just watched both episodes and tbh I wish I hadn't watched tonights. I am shaking after watching the bath scene. Is it going to get a lot worse?

That was grim. This chantelle and gray storyline has gone on too long now. It's getting too dark for a 7.30 programme.
I'm loving EE being back though. I honestly didn't think I'd miss it, but I really did.

It was very dark for 730 but then murder and everything I guess isn’t exactly suitable for a 9y old. It wasn’t explained at all either. I thought he was asking for some sort sexual act. I realise some sort of control/torture but never heard about being made to hold your breath in DV.

I suppose some abusers get very creative. Lockdown would have meant a lot of time for them together in that house so maybe he got bored with his original ways of abusing her.

Agree it was grim and very dark. Not sure it’s what we need to see in soap “entertainment” it was enough to know he was abusing her.

The bath scene was awful. Poor Chan.
He has done this before hasn't he? Threatened to take the children from her. Says he wants a divorce . Then she caves in to stop him and has to do as she's told. I hate Gray so much.
I didn't recognize the young DJ either. I thought it was a new actor!

The business with the divorce and needing money is a bit odd. Nothing can be done at great speed. She needs to get out of there fast. I hope she goes to Karen and Mitch for help. She has a really supportive family.
I am already over invested in this after 2 episodes!

Yeah they’ve ballsed up the divorce storyline from the start. For starters, She wouldn’t need money upfront. And secondly, as there is DV she would be entitled to legal aid.

@Akire yeah, i totally get that EE isn't all happy etc and has always been non-family-friendly, but when it is ongoing mental torture which even grown adults with no DV history are finding hard to watch, it's starting to go too far imo. We know he's being awful to her, we don't need it spelled out to us like that in every episode

SpanishFly I agree. It is horrific. I thought it was going to be a sexual act too. Not that that would be easier to watch but they wouldn’t show it. They did the same with the Bex bullying storyline. EE just goes too far. It is violent and if it was a weekly episode drama type programme, I would know it wasn’t my cup of tea and wouldn’t watch it at all.

On a lighter note, the men in EE look better than before. The actors look well rested. Kat’s hair is a different story!

Agreed, and if it was a weekly drama, it abs wouldn't be on at 7.30pm.

Re callum, it said on the insta photos posted that he was fast-tracked, but I have no idea if that's realistic or if it's a dramatic licence thing 😀

I think the divorce thing is quite realistic - she doesn’t have enough money to live with her kids on her own and she knows if she ran he’d find her. She believes he’s all powerful and she’s terrified. I imagine she thinks if she sorta it by law She’ll be safe and he will respect it?

It’s such a shame Mitch didn’t find out. I don’t want to say such a shame she wasn’t able to tell him, because that sounds really victim blamey. Mitch knows he’s a wrongun and that’s why Gray hates him so much!

gray and Mitch goes down for it. They shipped bailey off to ‘her aunts’ and he’s never had a serious storyline, does anyone care about the Karen billy Mitch triangle?

I thought the Istagram updates above really show who is important and not important. Like Kathy joined a Zumba class. Isaac did extra classes. They are just fillers.

Who will move into the Vic with Sharon? Ian is in financial trouble but Ian in the Vic? They need comings and goings. Will see rent out rooms to get new characters in?

Updates were really good. The one about the close friendship between honey and jay is a bit strange. He must be 15 years younger than her. I hope it doesn’t lead anywhere.

Another update was strange too - the one about Max growing closer to Denise? Sharon (understandably as they have both lost children), and Ian??? (knowing Ian this is a financial agreement only and Max thinks it’s a genuine friendship?) That doesn’t add up because Max is very shrewd and calculating like Ian himself. They can say prison changed him but we know that isn’t true from how he is treating Rainey.

Yeah I’d hate to see Honey and Jay together, that doesn’t ring true at all. I think if it was real life, Lola wouldn’t be pushing him away she’d realise what a good thing she has going. Jay is perfect because of Ben as well - one big happy family!

Do you think they used the opportunity to get rid of some storylines? The Denny/Ian/Dotty storyline was a bit of an anticlimax after all that Grin

Max is weird though isn’t he. Before lockdown he was getting very friendly with bobby, and Ian has lost at least one child too and has been nice to max on the face of it. Don’t forget Ian and Rainey aren’t exactly friends either!

Surely though, if max wants his money back, Ian can explain and then offer max his share of the business back and maybe even a share of the vic? I feel like max and Phil have a bad feeling history too but I can’t remember why...
