I loved this show last year and was very excited to see a trailer yesterday that seemed to show series 2 was coming soon and was located in the Americas? But Googling it has revealed absolutely nothing! I thought I'd start this thread so that fellow fans have a place to comment when we have more info.

If it is the Americas, it will stop the contestants just copying last year's journeys, although I must admit I think the Europe/Asia route will prove more interesting as there's such a great variation in cultures as you travel east. But I don't know much about South America so looking forward to being wrong, and I'm sure it will be just as exciting as the last series. It'll be the people that make it - loved Darron and Alex from last year and their changing relationship/bond!

Oh my god she reminds me of someone too!!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 15/03/2020 21:14

I want to say Helen Lederer from AbFab

NCTDN · 15/03/2020 21:16

I don't think they had enough money to even get to the next check Point

tigerwhocametoT · 15/03/2020 21:22

@OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny Penny from Big Bang theory?

lettingthedaysgoby · 15/03/2020 21:39

From the conversation - they were carrying on before they got to the checkpoint - I suspect they were pulled out (or persuaded to stop) for not having enough money to travel safely to the end of the next leg.

Duvetstay · 15/03/2020 21:59

Do you think the money was stolen? Not sure why they didn't say that as seemed most likely explanation?

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 15/03/2020 22:37

Realistically speaking, if they’d carried on, they’d have had to work for weeks extra and even if you ignore the fact that the jobs they do are heavily stage managed and designed for a maximum of 48 hours, the additional budget strain of keeping the film crew on the road for an extra month would be unsupportable.

SleepingStandingUp · 15/03/2020 22:59

I don't understand why Military Princess didn't go one more leg with the money they had. Pick up a job on way and they'd have made it with pennies to spare but they'd have got there. Seems a shame to quit one stop earlier than necessary.

Hoping Sibling Rivarly will chill out and bond at some point as their sibling squabbles are annoying.

Grumpy Married seriously need some therapy if they're going to get to the end still married. She really needs to chill. Screw winning, just fix your relationship

Mamma Boy def my favourite and think they have a lovely connection.

Lost Map are just a disaster. Honey hope the nephew steps up and shows the uncle he's capable of winning if he's in charge!!

MrsJamin · 16/03/2020 04:24

Loving the summaries and the team names, @SleepingStandingUp! I think the money must have been stolen, why would you have that much money in a place that was easy to nick. I wonder whether they tried to look back at video footage to determine what happened - surely there's a camera on them most of the time?
I'm hoping the nephew will step up in Lost Map and make some decisions. They have a lot less budget left than the three other teams.

NCTDN · 16/03/2020 06:51

Great names! I think he lifted money out to pay for the breakfast and it was stolen then.

HeronLanyon · 16/03/2020 07:03

Joe reminds me hugely of someone. For me it’s her mouth - a presenter or newsreader (??). Absolutely love her - seems chilled and skilled - socially confident and using language skills etc.
Task for today - to work out who her doppelgänger is.

HeronLanyon · 16/03/2020 07:18

Is it Lorraine Kelly ???

prampushingdownthehighst · 16/03/2020 08:13

What an interesting programme, I love the Mumma Boy, and yes she does remind me of Lorraine Kelly!
It's so funny seeing the relationships play out, may be the roles will have reversed by the end of the journey.
Next week's looks tense

theschoolonthehill · 16/03/2020 09:07

I don’t suppose they can’t say it was stolen when they have no proof he didn’t just drop it, even though it was obvious it was stolen.

Duvetstay · 16/03/2020 09:50

That's what I thought theschoolonthehill. It just made him look like a mug and gave military princess more ammunition against him!

Also I'd have thought that they could have looked through the footage. It just bothered me as it didn't seem fair!

LargeGinOnTap · 16/03/2020 10:04

The blonde wife (sorry haven't learnt names yet) reminds me of Rebecca addlington the swimmer

I think if they'd had got a couple of jobs along the way then that couple who left would limped on till the next check point

Cocolapew · 16/03/2020 10:08

She reminded me of Helen from Big Brother

theschoolonthehill · 16/03/2020 10:18

The woman who left seemed happy to leave really. I wonder though if the ppl who sign up ever did any sort of backpacking before. Things will always go wrong but it’s enthusiasm that keeps ppl going. I’m unsure if she had enough to begin with. They could have kept going a while longer and decided instead to enjoy being where they are with the money they have left instead of co to using to participate.

I like when she said at the end that they were going to live in London but they can live anywhere. It’s true, travel broadens the horizons.

IsabelleSE19 · 16/03/2020 10:44

Wonder if the withdrawal of that couple means that there won't be an elimination this series now? There was only one in the first series I think.

Enjoyed seeing the places again, although could have done with a little more 'touristy' stuff. I realised very quickly that I knew literally nothing about Panama City whatsoever - it looked nice. I always think how amazing it must feel when the teams reach the checkpoint hotels and get proper showers and beds to sleep on!

Mother and son definitely my favourites now – it's a beautiful thing watching them have the experience together.

I they won't replace them this date or would be lovely to replace them with last seasons drop outs

MrsJamin · 16/03/2020 11:37

I loved what the mum said about her adopted son, and then what he said about being chosen.
I wonder whose decision it was that they didn't continue - because until they were at the checkpoint they didn't mention at all the idea of not continuing. Perhaps they had a chat with the producers and decided altogether. Jamiul's reaction at being given their map was surprising, I think he is going to come into his own in the next few episodes.

theschoolonthehill · 16/03/2020 11:54

To give them credit, doing that trip without a map must have been really hard. I presume they depended entirely on people, who could just as easily have given them really poor directions. They had no option other than do what they did and get air con direct buses instead of local transport. Their budget is decreasing rapidly though.

The son with the mother is fairly immature. At some point his very lovely and very competent mother will have to step back and let him make decisions even if she knows they are not the best ones. He will learn more from making mistakes and rectifying them instead of just being his mum’s travel companion. He is 20 or 21 and about to move out of home when they return after their trip?

I smiled when she gave him some money to buy crisps and told him not to spend too much. She really really has to start treating him as an adult.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 16/03/2020 12:04

Cocolapew yes she does look like Helen from Big Brother.

That, crossed with Helen Lederer (who someone else suggested)

twilightcafe · 16/03/2020 12:06

YES! Jen does remind me of Helen from Big Brother.

Standrewsschool · 16/03/2020 12:10

Loving the names!
