I loved this show last year and was very excited to see a trailer yesterday that seemed to show series 2 was coming soon and was located in the Americas? But Googling it has revealed absolutely nothing! I thought I'd start this thread so that fellow fans have a place to comment when we have more info.

If it is the Americas, it will stop the contestants just copying last year's journeys, although I must admit I think the Europe/Asia route will prove more interesting as there's such a great variation in cultures as you travel east. But I don't know much about South America so looking forward to being wrong, and I'm sure it will be just as exciting as the last series. It'll be the people that make it - loved Darron and Alex from last year and their changing relationship/bond!

My now 10 year old loved the first series. There was nothing in it that I was uncomfortable about her watching at all (that I can remember!!). She was so excited that it was back on.

I caught this last night but missed the first fifteen minutes or so, never saw the first series but looking forward to this.

I'm also watching the couples in Alaska, but I've only seen the first three but loving that as well.

ellenanora5 · 11/03/2020 12:25

"Win the Wilderness" sorry couldn't think of the name.

Sorry wrong thread I'll report it!

Last time there was an elimination at checkpoint 1. It was the most expensive leg of the journey so eating into the budget for speed affected what they were left with for the rest of the time.

The substitution was very early on with the replacement couple being placed at the point where the couple had to retire off and carry on with what was left of the budget.

I'd assume there will be an elimination at some point to keep the contestants on their toes.

I like the level of competition in this series. It's mainly the relationships of the couples, with a bit of competition when they cross paths at checkpoints or waiting for connections. There's very little playing to the cameras.

MaggieFS · 11/03/2020 19:59

I've just watched the first episode of series one too, I'm hooked.

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 12/03/2020 07:28

The elimination at checkpoint 1 also stopped you from working double shifts at Pret A Manger Victoria for a week right at the beginning and earning enough to hire a limousine all the way across Central Asia.

hoxtonbabe · 12/03/2020 08:12

I was also wondering about the elimination like they did last year.

The military and princess are annoying me already, more so her, I mean now it is season 2 you know what you are in for and to behave as she does and signing up for this is beyond my comprehension. Im not into camping nor very outdoorsy, so I’d either not bother partake or do it and not complain as I know exactly what I’m letting myself into.

crapette · 12/03/2020 08:44

They had 2 of the couples on The One Show last night, but it was really odd as, obviously, they couldn't say anything which referenced the result.

peachypetite · 15/03/2020 10:27

Love this show! I’ve travelled across Central America and loved seeing them in Belize - brought back many memories for me.

Wolfcub · 15/03/2020 11:44

Looking forward to tonight's episode

IsabelleSE19 · 15/03/2020 11:47

Me too - amidst all this craziness it's going to be a lovely bit of escapism. I was relieved to think that the whole series is already in the can so that's one little thing that won't get ruined/cancelled. Unlike next weekend's trip to the Harry Potter studios Sad

Last year, they seemed to change the game plan. Initially, it seemed they were going to eliminate someone at every checkpoint, and then only did it once (although i May have remembered that wrong).

mnahmnah · 15/03/2020 12:27

Yes I seem to remember that there was only one elimination last series. Maybe two at a push. But definitely not at every checkpoint. The punishment for being last is just being later to set off again isn’t it? Which clearly can have a knock-on effect if they’re then last to the next checkpoint. But it was amazing last time how far behind some were, but made up the time and beat people way ahead of them.

MrsJamin · 15/03/2020 13:34

We love watching this with our boys (10& 12), the only iffy thing in season one was that one of the couples stayed at a hotel where there were prostitutes, but tbh I don't think it was hugely obvious to the DC.
Loved the first episode of this series. There was no one obviously unsuited to the adventure apart from perhaps the girlfriend of the army guy. In season one the couple that had to leave early had suitcases which was ridiculous, plus they did some nasty game-playing right at the beginning which wasn't cool. We were really glad they were replaced by the wonderful ex-teacher couple.

Wolfcub · 15/03/2020 20:16

The brother and sister are bloody annoying. I keep to my view that the brother is a dick

MaggieFS · 15/03/2020 20:30

@Wolfcub They're both annoying!

Can I comment on what's going on? Assume it won't be spoilers if I'm commenting on what's on the tele already?

I can't believe that bloke has lost a grand. Bloody hell. Whoever found that would be chuffed.

Wolfcub · 15/03/2020 20:31

I reckon he got robbed Maggie

peachypetite · 15/03/2020 20:33

I reckon it was stolen too.

Stellaris22 · 15/03/2020 20:33

I thought he got robbed too. I love the mum and son, they're absolutely lovely.

MaggieFS · 15/03/2020 20:34

Sorry, yes agree. I've just had a rant at DH about how you don't show off your money belt and keep your money for each day handy, with balance squirrelled away in money belt. Plus your emergency US$10 separate again.

LizzieBananas · 15/03/2020 20:45

Jo’s Spanish seems to be serving her well.

Only one elimination last series, in leg 2.

MaggieFS · 15/03/2020 21:01

Have they actually quit? I know they wouldn't win, but surely they could work and keep going? What about doing it for the experiences en route!

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 15/03/2020 21:04

Hoping that someone on this thread can tell me who Jen reminds me of please? It's driving me mad

I've got a feeling it could be a comedienne/comedy actress
