I loved this show last year and was very excited to see a trailer yesterday that seemed to show series 2 was coming soon and was located in the Americas? But Googling it has revealed absolutely nothing! I thought I'd start this thread so that fellow fans have a place to comment when we have more info.

If it is the Americas, it will stop the contestants just copying last year's journeys, although I must admit I think the Europe/Asia route will prove more interesting as there's such a great variation in cultures as you travel east. But I don't know much about South America so looking forward to being wrong, and I'm sure it will be just as exciting as the last series. It'll be the people that make it - loved Darron and Alex from last year and their changing relationship/bond!

thanks away and tweet, I was worried it was a health or injury issue. They were so sweet, I thought Jo was amazing with Sam, and he really seemed to be coping better with things as the series progressed.

Wolfcub · 26/04/2020 21:40

They donated 3/4 of their winnings according to the papers. £10k to street children in South American and £5k to Elon's family orphanage

purpleme12 · 26/04/2020 21:41

Oh lovely

Justmuddlingalong · 26/04/2020 21:44

I don't think the winners cheated. They all accepted the kindness of strangers. Dom and Lizzie tried to beg at one point. Unfortunately for them, it was lost in translation.

JacobReesMogadishu · 26/04/2020 21:56

Yeah, I did think that ultimately it was fitness which decided the winner and that seemed unfair.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/04/2020 22:04

But they cheated - they used their budget then sold their own belongings to travel?! nope, nothing in the rules else they'd have been stopped.

Surely they should let the first couple leave the hotel at a reasonable time it would be boring though if whoever got a head start day 1 could keep it up because they always left at the best time. This way its a great leveller. Imagine if Team A always left 30 minutes before the bus left, Team B 12 hours behind would them get the shit leaving time. So Team A would get a double advantage and at the next point they'd get the best leave time again.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/04/2020 22:07

Yeah, I did think that ultimately it was fitness which decided the winner and that seemed unfair. I don't think anyone thought it would end up that close tbf. It was just the final twist like having to pay to finish last yr

PurpleDaisies · 26/04/2020 22:09

I really enjoyed this series, even more so than last time which I loved. I was really pleased with the winners and them donating so much to charity made me cry.

CashewNut11 · 26/04/2020 22:23

Loved it, but did wonder if there might be a final ticket payment thingy at the end, like last year, which could have shaken it up a bit.

Thought Emon was so lovely with Jen at the end, very caring.

I'm so glad they won, and they were the only couple to sleep on the bus station floor! I just felt that in the end they were more resourceful.

I remember Emorn saying at the beginning he was very competitive but it didn't really show then, but he clearly became more driven!

Jen was also competitive but didn't really have the confidence to engage with locals, and when she kept saying she couldn't do it, at the end, it got a bit annoying.

I think all their language skills (for essential phrases) had really come on by the end.

And there is still next weekend's round up to look forward to Smile

Wrongdissection · 26/04/2020 22:25

Just caught up 😭

So pleased with the winners. What a lovely pair.

MaggieFS · 26/04/2020 22:27

I'm not sure it was cheating, but it made having to budget and work throughout irrelevant in the end. Whereas Jen and Rob who arguably followed the sprint of the race better, were denied at the final hurdle. Yes, it was initiative, but I'd be pissed off if I lost in that situation.

Poetryinaction · 26/04/2020 22:34

It wasn't cheating as there were no rules to say it wasn't allowed. I liked how they could ask anyone, use anyone else's smartphone, hitch, work anywhere, whatever... it showed who had initiative.
And the sprint at the end was fair enough too. Amazing it was so close, but no-one could've guessed that.
I watched the 1st series this week while waiting for the final if the second. Then I watched the first final straight after the 2nd final. I disagree that the first series was better. I preferred the couples on the 2nd, and thought it was more dramatic. I couldn't warm to some of the couples on series 1.
I want to take part in series 3!

purpleme12 · 26/04/2020 22:42

Yes Emon was really good with Jen at the end

peppermintcapsules · 26/04/2020 22:46

Jen was beyond annoying. I'm so glad the guys won. Didn't think it was unfair at all or that they cheated.

backdoormadness · 26/04/2020 23:14

@TweetUsOnFacebook I hate running and very unfit. If I had been travelling for 6 weeks on sweaty buses and to win 20k I’d be running up that bloody hill (I’m obviously not disabled but I’m sure bbc would have catered for that).

She’s been grating on me since episode one with her hissy fits and the way she speaks to her husband. The way she handled the final was disgusting and showed poor sportsmanship.

peppermintcapsules · 26/04/2020 23:27

I agree, backdoor. Really uncool to behave like that.

Justmuddlingalong · 26/04/2020 23:30

The only saving grace wrt Jen and Rob, was that she was the one trailing behind him at the very end. I think his future life would be hell if it'd been the other way around.

purpleme12 · 26/04/2020 23:32

I don't know they were so close and it looked like she really pushed herself at the end to get there so I can see why she was just crying immediately. That was just her immediate emotional reaction. I'm sure she calmed down after and congratulated them

RomeoLikedCapuletGirls · 26/04/2020 23:36

The way she spoke to her husband about his deafness really annoyed me. Going on about how he wasn’t the person that she married, as if it were his fault he’d changed.

I’m glad she didn’t win. Good on the lads for donating the money.

MrsJamin · 27/04/2020 07:09

You're being so harsh on Jen, you horrible lot. Can't you put yourself in her position and see how emotional it all was and how much she really wanted to win? I felt so sorry for her what with the others dumping their bags in the town, you could tell how frustrated she was, and so would all of you be! Her and Rob seemed so much more like a couple at the end, rather than sister and brother.
I'm glad emon and Jamiul won, the donations were a lovely touch. They all seemed so much closer to each other than last year's couples, I wonder why that was.

MrsWhites · 27/04/2020 08:10

Enjoyed the final, I did want Jen and Rob to win. I think people on here are being a bit unfair to her, of course she feels sad that her husband has changed, it’s obviously not his fault but it’s not her fault either, when something happens like that, it happens to the couple not just to the ‘Rob’ in the situation. Yes sometimes she snaps at him but he had a moan at her a few times too.

I thought the final sprint was a little unfair, almost like the producers realised half way through the final leg how close it was going to be so added that in, I mean it would have been rubbish if they’d just walked in to the hotel lobby pretty much together (although the ensuing fight over the welcome book might have been quite funny!). I wonder if ultimately they wanted the uncle and nephew to win?

Although I wanted Jen and Rob to win, I did shout at them through my tv a few times, they had so much money they didn’t need to work and if they hadn’t gone off course they would have won. This was the one leg of the race in which they knew the end destination, I don’t understand why they hadn’t planned their route earlier. It was also so close that Jen’s tantrum on the way to the hotel about leaving the bags could have cost them the win!

Stellaris22 · 27/04/2020 08:11

That's a shame. I was watching the episode thinking 'I bet MN are going to be horrible about Jen' and I was right 🙁

I would have definitely struggled with that last bit, anyone would. I don't understand why most people are so nasty about Jen and her response naw to being under stress.

Missyelliottsaysso · 27/04/2020 08:18

Absolutely love this show! The only program on tv I will sit and watch when it is scheduled.
I enjoyed series 1 but I felt more of an emotional connection with the groups in series 2 and felt quite emotional a few times, usually because of the kindness of strangers.
They were a lovely bunch, and to be fair, you are seeing people at their most stressed, anxious, tired and hungry. Missing their families back home and probably sleeping in some rough places.
I didn’t mind who won...but would have loved jo and Sam to win as I think she is such a kind and special person.
I’m not getting the attitude towards Jen either...she was bright, engaged in everything she did and was very polite to everyone she spoke to. We loved her in our house and thought she was a riot! I have two usually very critical teenage DD watching too.
Congratulations to the very humble winners and amazing they donated some of their winnings to charity.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 27/04/2020 08:23

I understood why Jen reacted the way she did - it was gut & frustration. Totally get that. Also the way she spoke about the winners afterwards was lovely.

When Dh & I married I wasn’t disabled, I’m sure their are times that he’s felt cheated as it wasn’t the life we planned for us or our children. And you don’t know what questions the producers asked to get those responses.

Bellini12 · 27/04/2020 08:29

Yes Jen and Rob must have finished with so much money in their pocket! I wonder if by spending some of that on a taxi when they were the first to leave (and found no buses were running yet). I would have been fed up to have lost my lead before I’d even got going!
