I loved this show last year and was very excited to see a trailer yesterday that seemed to show series 2 was coming soon and was located in the Americas? But Googling it has revealed absolutely nothing! I thought I'd start this thread so that fellow fans have a place to comment when we have more info.

If it is the Americas, it will stop the contestants just copying last year's journeys, although I must admit I think the Europe/Asia route will prove more interesting as there's such a great variation in cultures as you travel east. But I don't know much about South America so looking forward to being wrong, and I'm sure it will be just as exciting as the last series. It'll be the people that make it - loved Darron and Alex from last year and their changing relationship/bond!

Hmmm - or is the six hours an overall record for the whole trip, and there was only a one hour gap for that leg? Perhaps that's it!

awaynboilyurheid · 20/04/2020 09:41

Enjoyed last night, but yes could see the man at the bus stop thought the brother and sister wanted him to translate not to buy them tickets!, it’s anyone but Jen to win here shame as we like Rob but last nights “I really want to win and your not going to stop me “ to poor Rob was classic she just blames him for everything!
Really enjoyed seeing Jo get to do something for herself you could see she was loving her time with the horses and Sam appreciated it was her time to enjoy herself He also just got on with it when they needed to work on the bus, He is maturing throughout this journey I’m really worried for them as I feel they will not be able to go on and the series will be poorer for it.

SleepingStandingUp · 20/04/2020 10:48

@Whitney168 if team 1 gets there first then T2 5 hours later then t3 30 later that's literally how they leave. T1 then T2 5 his later then t3 30 hours later. Tough if that's 12 hours before transport arrives

ihatethecold · 20/04/2020 11:13

Rob and Jen have no romance showing on the program. They don't hold hands or kiss. They are like big sister and younger brother. He cant do anything right and if its not her plan or idea she doesn't half go on.

MrsJamin · 20/04/2020 11:33

I think considering the budgets left, it'll be Jen and Rob versus emon and Jamiul to win it. Shame that potentially not all couples will make it to the end, I wonder whether they didn't quite anticipate how expensive it would be in those countries. Perhaps the very last episode goes back to the participants in their home lives after the show?

thetoddleratemyhomework · 20/04/2020 11:48

@ihatethecold

I know them in real life. I think it is edited for good TV rather than a realistic representation of all hours of the day 😁. Also, if I had a camera crew following me all the time and hadn't brushed my teeth, I probably wouldn't be super romantic 😂

ihatethecold · 20/04/2020 12:12

So im wrong then Toddler? Smile

onlydigestivesinthetin · 20/04/2020 12:29

I think the narrator is making it increasingly clear that the brother and sister have been chosen because they are spoiled millennials who've never had to stand on their own two feet. In fact they've said that themselves. When things don't work out as planned they just stand around in the expectation that someone will rescue them. They both seem to have a pattern of starting things, deciding they don't like them and walking away safe in the knowledge that mum and dad will look after them. I find Lizzie very brittle. She seems committed to being hurt and offended. Anyone but these two to win.

BiggerBoat1 · 20/04/2020 14:54

Agreed the brother and sister are awful.

I really want the uncle/nephew pair to win. They have developed such a great relationship with each other and seem the most genuine.

I love the Mum and Son but they seem more bothered about the experience than the win and he has been such a passenger all the way along.

Still don't know any names!

theschoolonthehill · 20/04/2020 15:05

potentially not all couples will make it to the end, I wonder whether they didn't quite anticipate how expensive it would be in those countries.

If they all started with the sane amount of money, then the ones who won’t make it didn’t budget properly and made poor choices. Obviously excluding those who had money stolen). Jo allowed Sam to behave like a tourist. They didn’t just sightsee, they had ‘.experiences’’. In any country these cost far more than just sightseeing.

LolaDarkdestroyer · 20/04/2020 16:04

Honeyroar black couple? Really?

thetoddleratemyhomework · 20/04/2020 16:59

@ihatethecold

Dunno! I mean, I have ever seen them as an outlier in terms of affection, but then I have never spent a whole week in their company either, so who knows!

theschoolonthehill · 20/04/2020 18:27

LolaDarkdestroyer. They aren’t in it anymore. Half their money was stolen and they just gave up. The female in the couple didn’t appear have any real interest in it anyway. They wouldn’t have won but it’s a shame they didn’t continue just to take part and enjoy the challenge. I don’t know why she signed up really.

SleepingStandingUp · 20/04/2020 18:39

I think Princess thought it would be a bit easier and Army hoped it would be a bit rougher and that she'd step upm. I think the money being stolen have the excuse to pull out. I do wonder if they're still together.
Personally I'd have kept going til the pennies ran out, safe in the knowledge that they can't just abandon us in the middle of Uruguay.

megletthesecond · 20/04/2020 18:39

I was surprised he was targeted tbh. He was a tall bloke and ex army IIRC.
The market stall holder was definitely in on it if you ask me.

CashewNut11 · 20/04/2020 19:16

I read up on the next (final?) episode on the programme website and it alludes to three couples in the final, not four... but they would do that wouldn't they ... wouldn't they? I really hope Jo and Sam make it to the end, even if they are days behind.

My favourite bit so far was when the nephew and uncle worked out a short cut to a main highway so didn't have to double back to the main town. Loved it when the coach stopped for the shortest time and scooped them up!

I'm guessing that 'the rules' state you have to find somewhere to stay rather than saving money by sleeping rough or hanging out in all-night bars/cafes/street stalls...

theschoolonthehill · 20/04/2020 19:38

I thought they would sleep at the bus station too but it has to be against the rules. I guess if they said it is ok, they would also sleep rough and put themselves in danger which the producers obviously can’t allow.

mnahmnah · 20/04/2020 19:43

@theschoolonthehill

Lola’s point was regarding the use of ‘black couple’ rather than asking who they were, I think

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 20/04/2020 19:50

Rob & Jen are an odd couple- i just can't see them dtd in those luxury hotels. Like they'll say nah I'm knackered. Whereas normally surely if you don't do it in a lush hotel when will you?

I like the brother & sister yes the bus grovelling was cringe but I liked how they go what we are goin fb to hitchhike and go to a party with some locals.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 20/04/2020 20:00

🙄

AnnaNimmity · 20/04/2020 20:02

I thought Jo and Sam might drop out in the next episode - they are shown in the trailer for next week though. I want them to win, but I don't think they will.

I don't really like any of the other 3 couples, but it would be funny if Rob and Jen won!

Me and my dp are thinking of entering next year - we're trying to work out what our "story" would be....

AnnaNimmity · 20/04/2020 20:04

and I know Sam has additional needs, but it really annoys me how selfish he's been with his air con travel, constant eating, hair cuts etc. His mum is fab though.

HandfulOfFlowers · 20/04/2020 20:09

Love this programme but don't find the teams as likeable this series compared with the first. I really want Jo and Sam to win, or Emon and Jumil. I agree with other posters that Jen comes across as an awful person, but you never know how much is edited to create a "type".

IsabelleSE19 · 20/04/2020 20:17

I think Jo and Sam will be forced to drop out before the end - there was something about the snippet of voiceover they used in the Coming Next segment that sounded sort of accepting of the situation. I may be wrong though! I also think they had mentally prepared themselves for the fact they wouldn't finish, especially after Jo achieved her dream of working on the ranch.

OP posts:
SleepingStandingUp · 20/04/2020 20:42

Unless the family they're with pay them massively over the odds, I can't see there's any choice
