I loved this show last year and was very excited to see a trailer yesterday that seemed to show series 2 was coming soon and was located in the Americas? But Googling it has revealed absolutely nothing! I thought I'd start this thread so that fellow fans have a place to comment when we have more info.

If it is the Americas, it will stop the contestants just copying last year's journeys, although I must admit I think the Europe/Asia route will prove more interesting as there's such a great variation in cultures as you travel east. But I don't know much about South America so looking forward to being wrong, and I'm sure it will be just as exciting as the last series. It'll be the people that make it - loved Darron and Alex from last year and their changing relationship/bond!

thetoddleratemyhomework I agree! She seems perfectly normal to me too. I can understand why she talks so much when Rob isn’t a talker. Just filling the silence.

thetoddleratemyhomework · 14/04/2020 21:39

@theschoolonthehill

Yes, that's it - It's not that Rob is browbeaten, just that he is quite laid back and generally quite happy for someone else to do more of the talking. Actually, I suspect that's something he (mostly!) loves about Jen.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 14/04/2020 22:37

So pleased to read that Jen and Rob are happy (& are also decent people in real life!).

Why have they not been eliminating the last couple at each checkpoint this year? That made it more tense last year and much more like a proper race as they simply couldn't risk getting to the checkpoint last.

purpleme12 · 14/04/2020 23:04

They didn't eliminate at each checkpoint last year. They just did it at the first

theschoolonthehill · 14/04/2020 23:16

They only eliminated one couple last year. One couple had to leave due to personal reasons and they replaced them with a back up couple.

This year one couple decided to quit the race. They didn't have to eliminate a couple after that.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 14/04/2020 23:29

I thought they eliminated at least 2 couples last year for getting to the different checkpoints last.

IDefinitelyHaveFriends · 14/04/2020 23:41

Last year there was a problem with the relative cost of the countries they were visiting being heavily front loaded, so there would have been a lot of incentive to move very slowly through Europe to save money. Having a cut in Delphi kept them moving quickly through the earliest and least interesting stage.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 15/04/2020 19:29

I’ve backpacked through central & South America. Been to a few of the places they’ve visited. Absolutely the best experience I’ve ever had. Arriving in places after 24 hours on a coach & having to find somewhere to stay. Often at night. You learn a lot about yourself.

I love all the couples as they are learning about themselves & each other.

RedSocksRebel · 19/04/2020 20:03

Are we watching tonight?

Honeyroar · 19/04/2020 20:05

Yes. I’m finally up to date. We’ve binged it during lockdown until now.

Honeyroar · 19/04/2020 20:07

The American version eliminates a couple every checkpoint. I wondered why the black couple didn’t keep going until they ran out of money- just for the experience?

LIZS · 19/04/2020 20:13

Didn't take long for Jen to get going!

RedSocksRebel · 19/04/2020 20:20

What!!!? Begging!? Wtf

Whitney168 · 19/04/2020 20:23

What on Earth was that about, were they really expecting a random stranger to pay?! Had to rewind as I thought I’d misunderstood ...

prampushingdownthehighst · 19/04/2020 20:26

Absolutely staggering, the bloody cheek.of it!

Honeyroar · 19/04/2020 20:29

No and Sam are going to run out of money soon, surely. Argentina is no cheap.

RedSocksRebel · 19/04/2020 20:46

Lizzie is beautiful, whether dressed up for the party or slumming it.
And Jamuil is seriously handsome too and very nice with it.

Honeyroar · 19/04/2020 21:02

Jen’s delightful when she’s happy! Going on about how good they are together afterwards, while grumbling like heck when she’s worrying.

Stellaris22 · 19/04/2020 21:35

Warming to Jen more, I can understand why she gets stressed.

I found it very embarrassing watching the begging for bus tickets.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 19/04/2020 21:37

Me too @Stellaris22 I hope they're the winning couple!

SleepingStandingUp · 19/04/2020 22:06

I'm less annoying but I see something g of me and DH in Jen and Rob.

So sad for Jo and Sam
The subs begging was cringe.

Honeyroar · 19/04/2020 22:07

No. I still want the uncle/nephew to win. They’ve not shown a single bit of themselves that’s been annoying or false.

Re Jen, I’m sure I’d be even more annoying if they filmed myself and my husband travelling!

SleepingStandingUp · 19/04/2020 22:11

DH and I agree we'd not ever do it together lol We love each other but Jesus we'd kill each other. He'd be too laid back, I'm too competitive, and I'd cry if I didn't have fresh knickers in after every big sleep

Sarcelle · 19/04/2020 22:29

The mum is quite possibly the nicest and most patience person alive.

professorbean · 19/04/2020 22:39

I can't believe they tried to get a random person to buy them train tickets! I was cringing so hard!

I love jo, I just think she's one of those emotionally intuitive people who know what people need. I think she finds joy in seeing Sam flourish.
