I loved this show last year and was very excited to see a trailer yesterday that seemed to show series 2 was coming soon and was located in the Americas? But Googling it has revealed absolutely nothing! I thought I'd start this thread so that fellow fans have a place to comment when we have more info.

If it is the Americas, it will stop the contestants just copying last year's journeys, although I must admit I think the Europe/Asia route will prove more interesting as there's such a great variation in cultures as you travel east. But I don't know much about South America so looking forward to being wrong, and I'm sure it will be just as exciting as the last series. It'll be the people that make it - loved Darron and Alex from last year and their changing relationship/bond!

Dom reminds me of Spencer Pratt reality tv star
I can see why Lizzie is annoying but I prefer to Jen. I just think I'd get stroppy and need a break after being with my brother 24/7

purpleme12 · 12/04/2020 23:43

No I think it's just his hearing
I think he lost a lot of hearing from what I remember them saying
And it knocked his confidence
But yes he did cope well in the canoe I wear hearing aids I would struggle with that.

NCTDN · 13/04/2020 08:31

What does rob have for a hearing aid? Is it a permanent implant?
If so you'd have thought that the white wrapped around it could be a closer colour to his hair.

LIZS · 13/04/2020 08:43

Yes it does seem to be an implant. Jen is so annoying with her whingeing, all about herself and her comfort. I suppose he can turn down his hearing aid if needs be. I think the Oktoberfest really showed how different they had become, she was in her element in the limelight, him tolerant and liking to see her let go a bit but clearly less comfortable.

IsabelleSE19 · 13/04/2020 11:02

I really loved last night's episode - don't know if it's partly my emotional state but found it really moving. I'm glad Emon and Jamil won again – they seem like lovely blokes and are the best out of all the teams at talking to the locals wherever they are.

I'm warming to Jen too – she's quite annoying, but quite self-aware and I think is very 'real'. Really hoping she and Rob make it.

I do find Lizzie fairly annoying, but agree with a pp that spending that length of time with my brother would probably not bring out the best in me either! Her reaction to his seizure last week was shocking, just leaving him on the ground for strangers to deal with, but I've never had to deal with something like that so who knows. And that strop this week when they just needed to get going and try and make up some time was a bit Hmm

Hoping that the trip will give Jo and Sam confidence that she can step back and let him find his own way a bit more, and that she can have a new adventure just for herself. The bond between them is lovely though.

Really cannot stand Jen she just orders Robbie about! Last night she barked Robbie get me a banana! If he had shouted to her like that she would be having another meltdown! She is fiercely competitive and would never have shared a minivan as the other two couples did, I just cannot find any redeeming features in her at all. I don’t think Sam is selfish he just finds empathy hugely difficult as part of his condition and he is a teenager! but he genuinely loves his mum and Jo is such an amazing woman just happy to see her child happy.

ihatethecold · 13/04/2020 12:07

In all fairness, Sam does work hard on the days they do some manual labour.

SleepingStandingUp · 13/04/2020 12:12

I think the hard labour jobs have been Sam's salvation tbf, and he got a lot from the last two stops where he saw how people live. Emon giving that family his cards literally broke me.

I like jen in that there's no artifice but she is the friend who would drive you slightly potty and who you'd occasionally have to tell to back off

Bunnybigears · 13/04/2020 12:13

I like Sam's work ethic I have a brother with ADHD and he is very similar as long as he is doing something physical or eating something he is happy.

mnahmnah · 13/04/2020 12:45

I think the reason I’m not enjoying this series as much, is that I just don’t actually like any of them! Last series, plenty of them had faults and issues, but the were still likeable and I found myself rooting for them to do well. This lot just don’t do it for me!

IDefinitelyHaveFriends · 13/04/2020 12:51

Lizzie was stepping back to let the trained team medics deal with her brother to be fair, not some random strangers. Did we see the actual moment that the fit struck him?

purpleme12 · 13/04/2020 12:56

No they didn't film it for privacy

thetoddleratemyhomework · 13/04/2020 13:28

This thread is so funny and amazing. I know one of the pairs in real life, so it is funny to see how non-partial people would see them :).

Nixen · 13/04/2020 13:52

We live local to Rob and Jen and I wanted to track them down and be friends 😂 (after lockdown obv). The uncle and nephew have grown on me so much and the uncles actions when they saw the family was beautiful. Jo and Sam I like a lot, Jo is just such a lovely mum. The siblings are my least fave - just can’t click with them!

Stellaris22 · 13/04/2020 14:30

The nephew and uncle seemed incredibly genuine with their response to the family sleeping outside, they've massively grown on me.

megletthesecond · 13/04/2020 14:56

To be honest I don't mind all any of the couples. They would probably all drive me potty at certain times, but they all have their strengths.

DD now thinks we should install an indoor slide Hmm.

StCharlotte · 13/04/2020 15:33

What does rob have for a hearing aid? Is it a permanent implant? If so you'd have thought that the white wrapped around it could be a closer colour to his hair.

I got the impression it was wrapped in plastic to make it waterproof by the waterfalls. I expect I'm wrong.

There are 9 episodes. Honestly don't know who I want to win. I find Sam's behaviour and selfishness irritating because he's bright enough to be aware of it and seems to be almost proud of it. Jo is indeed a saint.

Did I hear the brother had also dropped out of uni?

I think Rob and Jen will be fine and I thought the nephew and uncle were adorable in that care home last night.

I really enjoyed the first series but was gutted at the smug winners.

purpleme12 · 13/04/2020 15:41

I think it's the sister who dropped out, not the brother

Bunnybigears · 13/04/2020 15:45

The brother said last night he had dropped out of Uni, It might just be me but they both come across as a bit spoilt, they hardly seem to have done any work compared to the others.

Cocolapew · 13/04/2020 15:46

Brother said he dropped out on last night's, sister has said in an earlier episode she had dropped out.

awaynboilyurheid · 13/04/2020 15:56

I think Jen would be a smug winner and it would all be about her! really hoping they don’t win even if I do like Rob Last night when she said she wasn’t like this at home and Rob rolled his eyes spoke volumes.

NCTDN · 13/04/2020 16:40

I too really took to the uncle and nephew in last night's episode.

SleepingStandingUp · 13/04/2020 17:23

I want happy with last years winner's.
Jamal and his uncle or Jo and Sam to win.
Sibs surely have no chance and agree Jen would be annoying.

theschoolonthehill · 13/04/2020 18:26

Both sister and brother dropped out.

I guessed Jo had been ill from the first episode when she spoke of it being her last opportunity to do/go places when she is only fifty four. Hard to hear her say it though. She has given everything to her children (Sam), sometimes I feel too much, as he needs to learn to make decisions too. I’d like to see them take a job that she would enjoy. She liked the bar role but he had such a strop about it, she couldn’t even continue it herself. I’d like to see her being genuinely happy in herself, not happy because she is watching Sam being happy. I really don’t care if he has ADHD, he has to just listen and put up with some things he isn’t mad about doing sometimes too and learn that if he can’t empathise with others, then he can at least learn to be a team player sometimes at least. Watching his mother tiptoe around him is uncomfortable.

MakeItThroughTheDay · 13/04/2020 18:33

Agree with above. It is uncomfortable, she really is so so so nice to him at all costs.

I didn't love last year's winners, I had really wanted Alex and his dad to win.

I quite like Dom and Lizzie, particularly him. She does play the persecuted role though and he falls for it - perhaps their parents give him a hard time too for being 'mean' to her.

I think Robbie is a people- pleaser or specifically a Jen- pleaser. He seems to thrive from seeing her thrive, a bit like No and Sam actually.

The positive uncle- nephew dynamic, where there's a clear pecking order based on seniority, is food for thought. It works well!
