Looking forward to it. Hope they do the story justice.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 09/02/2020 20:38

Oh exciting, I'd seen this advertised bu didn't know its on tonight. Thanks Unique

Arseit · 09/02/2020 20:43

Well let’s see if Sarah Phelps can actually stick to an Agatha Christie story or will go off piste again, which doesn’t always bode well.....

unique1986 · 09/02/2020 20:43

Only two episodes so it should be fast paced. Not dragged out anyway.

Puffinhead · 09/02/2020 20:45

I don’t think it will be remotely like the book judging from the trailer. IMO all the recent BBC Christie adaptations have been rubbish!

DrDreReturns · 09/02/2020 20:47

I've just read the book so will see how accurate the adaptation is!

StarbucksSmarterSister · 09/02/2020 20:51

At least it's got the gorgeous Rufus in it. From what I remember it's a bit of a strange one.

I shall watch it on I player since the lovely Endeavour is on now.

Puffinhead · 09/02/2020 20:52

Me too! They’ll probably make it too dark with menacing music too loud that you won’t be able to hear the dialogue. I’m not holding out much hope but there’s sod else on!

unique1986 · 09/02/2020 20:53

Well, it's not going to be like Miss Marple or Poirot.

OP posts:
ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 09/02/2020 20:55

I’ve seen the Geraldine Mcewan one - it’s a great story. A bit more dark and sinister than the usual miss marples I think.

Boireannachlaidir · 09/02/2020 20:57

It won't do the story justice. I don't know why she doesn't write her own stories instead of these terrible adaptations.

Puffinhead · 09/02/2020 20:58

@ShesGotBetteDavisEyes, it’s not a Marple story! She’s not in the book. It has Ariadne Oliver but I don’t think she appears in this version - we’ll see.

Puffinhead · 09/02/2020 20:59

@Boireannachlaidir, I am totally with you on that. I’m not even sure why I’m going to bother watching it - but I love a good moan!

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 09/02/2020 21:03

Well it was deffo done as a Miss Marple a few years back with Geraldine Mcewan! puffin Pauline Collins was in it too. I haven’t read the book though.

Puffinhead · 09/02/2020 21:04

Rubbish.

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 09/02/2020 21:05

Sorry it was Julia Mckenzie as MM not Geraldine Mcewan.

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 09/02/2020 21:05

Erm...just google it puffin !!

Puffinhead · 09/02/2020 21:06

Yes it was, I just meant she wasn’t in the book. Take no notice of me, I’m a bit of a purist when it comes to Agatha.

Screamqueenz · 09/02/2020 21:06

One of my favourite agatha christies. Shouldn't be judged on other (poor) tv versions.

Puffinhead · 09/02/2020 21:07

Sorry that rubbish was referring to this tv adaptation not you @ShesGotBetteDavisEyes. Sorry!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/02/2020 21:07

Julia McKenzie is a pretty good Miss Marple. Geraldine McKewan was rubbish. Far too arch. (Though I loved her as Lucia)

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 09/02/2020 21:10

Ah, don’t apologise puffin - I thought for a minute I was imagining things!

Toddlerteaplease · 09/02/2020 21:11

Joan Hickson was the only miss Marple.

DrDreReturns · 09/02/2020 21:19

They've messed the plot up already the priest who took the confession and got knocked off isn't in it!

Murrfect · 09/02/2020 21:19

Oh Rufus Sewell.... they can tap dance in the library if he’s in it
