I might be showing my age because I have a long standing hatred of voicemails because they used to use up your credit as a teenager. My friends still don't tend leave them, it's considered rude. Even though now, they're free and if they weren't we could afford the extra 10p. If I was a teenager on the lash and my mum phoned me screaming like that I wouldn't be rushing to phone back, even if I did by some miracle pick up the message. They're on bad terms so there's even less incentive.
