Action Man Jack is so condescending and antagonistic isn't he.

Shame he isn't more attractive shallow

TheTruthAboutLove · 25/01/2020 14:48

I think when he first came into the show Action Man Jack was okay, but it really is all about him now weirdly. Considering it’s been the Nikki show for years it was a total turnaround for SW.

Clarissa was also great at first, but it’s almost as if she’s in the show purely because of her disability. As she doesn’t do anything apart from complain when other wheelchair bound people enter the room or small bits of Action Man Jack’s dirty work. Even when there was an episode devoted to her backstory it was so poor.

What did make me laugh was in the second episode of this series when Action Man Jack just so happened to catch up with a moving van, with the door open, jump in the back, manage to wrestle control back of the van and crash and be fine. He’s been in the wars, shot at several times, falls, broken arms. He’s always in the middle of every dramatic scene when they figure out who the killer is!

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 25/01/2020 17:13

Ah I can't get too het up about Jack being quite literally Jack of all trades. Incidentally in forensics you'll have specialised roles so blood spatter, ballistics etc, rather than one fits all. You'd think they'd expand the cast to more than four to be a bit more plausible in that regard but eh.

He's still comedic for me. I've been watching back episodes and the whole thing is so wildly unbelievable it's laughable Grin

diddl · 25/01/2020 19:49

Well that was confusing/odd!

The whole thing with Thomas, Judge Smarmy & the guy who was Frank Churchill in the Emma with Kate Beckinsale.

So once they knew it was Tina then Donna's husband would be free & also Jade?

HeIenaDove · 25/01/2020 19:54

If there had been a part 3 its likely Donna would have ended up on Nikkis slab.

diddl · 26/01/2020 07:21

It wasn't made clear that Tina was being abused, but the daughters were having supervised visits weren't they?

Also when he appeared at the park that was threatening?

When the judge was telling her to tell the girls that it was OK for them to go I was hoping that she'd tell him to tell them himself!

Violetroselily · 26/01/2020 09:45

Just FYI every series from 6 onwards is now on Iplayer

TheTruthAboutLove · 26/01/2020 12:45

I just noticed! I watched two episodes from series six last night and it’s so different. Sam actually tells people it’s not her area and she can’t get involved and to contact the police!

Dennisreynoldsduster · 26/01/2020 15:03

Which episode do you think is the most ridiculous?
I think the Mexico one

SoupDragon · 26/01/2020 16:32

The thing is, it's a TV drama, not a documentary. Most dramas are far fetched and ridiculous really - they'd be really dull if they had to remain true to real life.

TheTruthAboutLove · 26/01/2020 16:54

@SoupDragon

Absolutely, but the way these dramas became so successful was by retaining a little bit of procedure in terms of what happens and how things are done. You can see the show develop from these series six episodes right the way through to now to become a fantasy drama where reality goes out of the window.
A place like that is too big for four people, look at CSI they had specialists in ballistics, DNA, audio and video and materials and many others - then we have to believe Action Man Jack can do everything forensically. I could get away with it when it was Harry as it wasn’t so obvious but it’s getting worse and worse.

The worst episode so far this series was the one about the missing boys. They’d have had zero to hold the haulage boss on if he hadn’t slit Andy from Bancrofts throat, so they had to do it to have something to question him on. And also the implausibility of Action Man Jack yet again saving the day and jumping into a moving vehicle. It’s always him who rescues people and solves the mystery. It would be so much better if they assisted the police instead of taking over as SIO on everything!

SoupDragon · 26/01/2020 17:01

Don't get me wrong - I spend a lot of time eye rolling :)

Dennisreynoldsduster · 26/01/2020 18:44

@SoupDragon that’s part of the fun 😁

longtompot · 27/01/2020 14:46

I thought the woman on the train track was killed by her husband.
I thought the woman who was going through the family courts to stop her husband was killing the violent partners of her friends in the refuge as a way of protecting them, and not just a killing spree. I felt she was desperate to protect her children, and felt the male judge etc were just not listening to her about what was going on.
I think the daughter of the woman killed and dumped on the track had seen both her mum and grandmother go through hell at the hands of someone who supposedly loved them, and was worried she would end up in the same situation.

SouthWestmom · 27/01/2020 21:13

Ok tonight! Wtf with the concrete? And the new hair? Do they have no budget for other staff?

SouthWestmom · 27/01/2020 22:13

Now what? None of this makes sense .

SoupDragon · 27/01/2020 22:19

What is it that doesn't make sense about the frozen dead girl also wandering about with a family of her own...?

lastqueenofscotland · 27/01/2020 22:37

This is possibly the most bizarre story to date

OP posts:
SouthWestmom · 27/01/2020 23:55

Soup it's been a long day, I'm just not following it closely 😂

Why if they can find no trace of the kid, don't they defrost her and do an autopsy or whatever? Rather than play along that she is Hope and referenze her?

MushroomTree · 28/01/2020 05:52

Haven't seen the latest but just caught up on the domestic abuse episodes.

Bloody hell! I work in DV and that really didn't help the narrative on abused women at all.

And so many inaccuracies about refuge.

Also, when Nikki was taking the daughter's DNA swab, why on earth was she questioning her about the abuse and who murdered her mother?!

SoupDragon · 28/01/2020 07:09

With the frozen girl, I imagine they want to make sure they have a reason to defrost her properly before actually taking that irreversible step.

Was she actually twins? I can't think of any other way there could be two of her. Although perhaps the dodgy fertility/cryogenic clinic also dabbles in cloning (which would be daft as well as scientifically impossible)

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 28/01/2020 13:21

I initially thought the girl claiming to be the daughter could be a 'saviour child'. How old do you think she's supposed to be?

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 28/01/2020 15:50

Oh man last nights episode was new levels of what the actual fuck. Cryogenic experiements? Why the hell not!

SoupDragon · 28/01/2020 16:18

To be fair, Cryonics is not fiction, there are companies that offer it.
