It’s back! Anyone else love this show?

I did but only because she’s a well known actress 😁

waterlego · 01/02/2020 09:47

I thought the timeline of Clarissa’s mum’s illness was unrealistic too. Assuming this was all happening over a fairly short space of time, the mum was already in the last stage of her illness when she was admitted to hospital, and I find it unlikely that she would have been offered chemo at all at that stage.

The guy who ran the cryogenic lab was a ridiculous character- such an obvious stereotype of an arrogant, money-obsessed American businessman in his pinstripe suit. Still, if it wasn’t that, they’d probably have gone for the ‘mad scientist’ trope!

TheTruthAboutLove · 01/02/2020 11:09

@cherrytree63

That is my favourite episode of all time too. It reminds me of watching new episodes of SW on the cold January evenings and the James Blake song at the end of the first part really gets me for some reason. The other ones I like are the ones about the Turkish community called Undertone and also Shadows (about the school/uni shooting) and The Lost Boy (about the paedophile ring and the boy that goes missing in the woods).

I think all the older episodes have much better storylines than the newer ones, I find myself watching those ones back rather than the past four or five series.

PatchworkElmer · 01/02/2020 18:48

The cryogenics episode was mental- I’m normally glued to SW but this one was a stretch, even for me.

lastqueenofscotland · 03/02/2020 21:39

Well this is SLIGHTLY less ridiculous than the cryogenics one

To be fair, the "accidental poisoning by nerve agent" did happen in Salisbury so it is actually possible!

They've stopped Action Man Jack running about being heroic this time and seem to be ditching Clarissa - did they read this thread and hurriedly re-shoot the episode?

WeHaveSnowdrops · 04/02/2020 07:21

So glad Clarissa is leaving.

I hate episodes when we get into the characters' private lives too deeply. It's always disappointing.

Hope Jack survives for the next series.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/02/2020 07:24

Is this the last story in the series then?

SoupDragon · 04/02/2020 07:38

I like Clarissa.

The tv Guide doesn't say this is the last in the series. Second episode is on Wednesday this week in case anyone missed the announcement.

WeHaveSnowdrops · 04/02/2020 07:40

It is the last - TV listings say last night's was 9/10. Looks like a good one to finish a rather disappointing series.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/02/2020 09:23

Is it just me or do the seasons seem shorter than they used to be?

Dennisreynoldsduster · 05/02/2020 02:39

Ah I’m quite sad Clarissa might be going. I like this team, I just think the writers have jumped the shark with the storylines.
I hope Jack survives - wonder if Clarissa “leaving” is actually misdirection and Jack is actually not going to make it...

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/02/2020 06:43

I watched a couple of the 'old's series (when Emilia Fox looked so very young!) yesterday evening. It's funny how there are some scenes/episodes that stay in one's mind and yet others that I have no memory of at all. One of the former being another one featuring Anastasia Hille (about the group of doctors who owned a racehorse).

Clarissa and Jack are a 'double act' in many ways, so I would have thought that if he doesn't make it she will go anyway.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/02/2020 13:19

I don't want Clarissa to go either - she is my favourite character, and her interactions with Jack are some of the best parts of the programmes.

MrsGolightyly · 05/02/2020 14:04

I like Clarissa. She's witty and sharp, pretty much the same in real life actually.

Dennisreynoldsduster · 05/02/2020 16:19

I’ve met Liz Carr in real life and she is fabulous so I may also be a bit biased.

whenskiesaregrey · 05/02/2020 21:34

Not great these two episodes. Jack also has bigger breasts than me.

lastqueenofscotland · 05/02/2020 22:08

I was also quite impressed by Jacks cleavage Grin

I wonder if they are killing off all the cast because they aren’t going to do another

lastqueenofscotland · 05/02/2020 22:28

Oh and to quote DP on Jacks tartan gilet... did the nerve agent go to his fashion sense.

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 05/02/2020 22:51

I am shook! Wasn’t expecting that.

They said at the end that the next two seasons are confirmed. Takes them up to S25!

I think I’m going to rewatch some of the oldies that are on iPlayer.

Squigean · 05/02/2020 22:56

The second episode isn't flipping record for me abs I can't access the iplayer

Noooooooo!!

ReadyForActionRyderSir · 05/02/2020 23:28

Thought that was a bit of a rubbish ending? The acting and the plot just seemed a bit far fetched?

JemimaTab · 06/02/2020 05:54

The ending seemed very rushed to me. Like they missed out some of the explanation.

WeHaveSnowdrops · 06/02/2020 06:31

Ending very rushed, agreed. Not enough explanations and nemesis.

Too much emphasis on personal lives this series. It isn't a soap.

Sorry to lose Tom but worth it if he takes Clarissa with him, who I'm sure is a lovely person in real life, just not a very good actor.
