Anyone tuning in tonight? I'm quite excited!

Ah I loved it!

I enjoyed it and will tune in tomorrow but agree with the 'overegging' comments - the CGI was very very obvious. Also found the Dutch nun quite annoying at times, and why did Mina look about 14 years old?

Nobody but Ken Russell should feature so many nuns in a film and he's dead. Presumably this is a ham fisted Gatiss homage. Bah.

I enjoyed it. I was genuinely scared at times (tho I'm a total shitbag) and it was also tongue in cheek funny. Sister Agatha is great.

I wasn't the only one checking out Claes Bang's (great name!) impressive physique during the lengthy convent gate scene.

Was I?

Great choice of actor for Dracula too. Christopher Lee-ish but a Christopher Lee you're allowed to quite fancy Wink

I liked that, loved that the Van Helsing nun was so funny right from the get go.

I can forgive the CGI, but what the hell was Mina's wig all about!?

The dead coming out of their coffins to attack Harker was v Hammer Horror-y but that was probably the intention. Nice twist making Van Helsing a nun and Dolly Wells was brilliant. Let's just hope she survived the episode!

Did anyone catch Agatha referring to a detective she knows in London who located Mina? Now I wonder who that might be...

I thought it was excellent. Jonathan was brilliant, and Dracula is witty and sexy all in one. Feisty nun with some funny one liners - shame the rest didn’t quite make it to the next episode though.
Love the SFX of Dracula climbing out of the werewolf thingy

Yes! I was pleased that there was some horrible SFX, that and the face pulling off at the end. I was a bit worried with it being the BBC that they would have it toned down.

I enjoyed this very much. They weren't kidding about disturbing scenes though! Fly. Nails. Aargh. An excellent re-working of the story. Agatha was brilliant.

It's going to be far too long. It should have been one hour each night, not one and a half. It can't seem to decide whether it wants to be funny or scary. Scary it's not, the effects are like an old Hammer Horror film.

But yes - Mina's wig is dire. Intentionally?

I loved it, very Buffy-esque with the witty one-liners, and even they did a Dracula homage 😜

I’ll be watching tomorrow. I watched The Sound Of Music earlier, so I was a bit disappointed the Dracula nuns didn’t sing. The heid bouquet was inspired Grin

They must have had great fun making this - all those nods to so many horror films and featuring every 'must have' Hammer moment.

Highly entertaining with flourishes of "frying tonight" too, due to a spectacularly camp Dracula.

Just finished watching this and although it's not a scene by scene dramatisation of the novel, I am finding it gripping so far.

I also caught the Sherlock reference, Queen.

Whoever was asking abou the actor who plays Jonathan, I recognise him as Mr Jaggers from Dickensian. I personally think he is a bit too old to play Jonathan, as I am sure he is meant to be in his early 20s. The actor is in his late 30s and looks his age.

Van Helsing as a woman has been done before but I still didn't see it coming and I liked that twist.

I loved it!

I lived the effects, it kept the Dracula 'ness' of previous dracula films by not having amazing realistic effects. It was ironic, funny and suspenseful.

Love the nun, hoping the sun comes out to save her so that her story carrys on.

I haven’t read it or seen any other versions but I thought it was great!

And “I have a detective friend in London” 😂

I wasn't keen on the effects, the opening of the boxes scene was a bit too much like the Thriller video, for some reason. I predicted baby zombie too.

Wonder if they can sustain this over three episodes though
