Just googled and Dulverton has a population of 1400. It's unsurprising she would make such ill judged comments as she clearly hasn't been out in the world for very long.

I didn't read the Ghandi comment as racist...I thought she was just teasing her comparing her to a paragon of virtue. Bit like when I tell my husband how to cook something and he says "shut up, Delia"

Yes, but she could have made any number of comparisons (Mother Theresa etc etc), but she went straight for the Indian angle. I think it was a racialised comment, and the people involved in the chat clearly did, as multiple complaints were made.

To be fair they both sound like passive aggressive bitches in that WhatsApp group. The ghandi comment was definitely racist and quite possibly subconscious on Lotties part.

I'm amazed no one called Lottie out at interviews over being a "librarian" at 19 with no Masters degree.
Did she ever refer to herself as that though? Or was it the producers who used that phrase?

It was funny when Carina was saying she wanted 5000 branches - even McDonalds only has around 1300!

I felt sorry for Lottie after reading her interview in the Mail. What she needs to do now is keep her head right down - she'll be a five-minute-wonder if only she can stay out of the limelight. She can reinvent herself later, hopefully having learned from all this. As long as she doesn't keep popping up everywhere, she'll soon be just 'that annoying one - what was her name? - thingy, you know, the posh one'.

Screaming, I tend to agree with you. There's something a bit unsavoury about a full internet pile-on, especially when the target of it is so young. Lottie hasn't done herself any favours, mind, and I don't condone her behaviour, but it's quite sad to think of her estranged from family support and made a pantomime villain on national television.

Delurking to say the cafe is apparently in Herne Hill, South London. I had no idea of its Apprentice links but the staff have seemed very lovely when I've popped in before, and I am pretty sure you get a little biscuit with a takeaway cappuccino...(not advertising!)
