Starks obviously Federer doesn't need the money! My point was that there are more important things to cry about than a cancelled tennis match. And I wouldn't class myself as a Rafa fan girl. I often run the gamut on here by rooting for Rafa's opponent, especially if it's Dan Evans

I like to think we all have our own views and favourites, a lot of the time they converge, sometimes they don't. But no one takes offence and it's not meant maliciously.

Starks as you said yourself, Fed has plenty of fans. I don't think he'll mind too much if some people prefer other players.

This year I sat on centre court and watched him play, against a super-talented player trying his absolute heart out (Nishikori), who received barely any appreciation from the crowd (apart from when they cheered his mistakes ), because 99.99% of them were for Roger. So I think people who follow tennis more widely might support other players because that kind of thing is annoying.

As for Nadal fan girls, sorry, but I've been following tennis for about 38 of my 44 years, and have enjoyed watching many many players during that time, even - gasp! - Roger Federer.

In any case, if I'm a fan girl of anyone it's Juan Martin del Potro (now that I'll happily admit ).

Tldr: It'd be boring if we all liked the same things.

I'm a Rafa fan.

But - knowing he won't he won't be around forever, I like a lot of other players.

I've never been a Fed fan though, and I don't really see why I have to make excuses for it. I don't like Murray either.

My tree is decorated but that's about it. DH decided he needed new clothes and dragged me out shopping with him. I just want to hibernate.

For anyone thinking of watching the Borg/McEnroe film - don’t bother. This is my Christmas present to you all - 2 hours of my life wasted so that you don’t need to. I’m a tennis fan but struggled to see the point of it

Fizzy thanks for the tip off about the film. I thought the actor playing Borg looked good but not sure about Mac. I only know of Shia LaBeouf from a voiceover in Teen Titans

I wasn't impressed with the film. It seemed pretty pointless because if you aren't a fan of either Mac or Borg you probably wouldn't bother watching it and if you are a fan then it just doesn't compare to the real thing!

I thought that Jane - I would have been better off watching a rerun of the actual match to at least see some good tennis.

It didn't help that the actors looked like they were going to a fancy dress party.

Oh dear Jane - as much as I like Mac I don’t find him bootylicious - it was all a bit wiggy - I did quite like Peter Fleming though
